About Orlando Men’s Rehab

Teen Challenge - Men’s Center is a residential rehab for men in Sanford, Florida. That’s in the Orlando area. This rehab is part of the Teen Challenge network of rehab centers but this center is for adult men ages 18+. They mostly treat drug addiction and alcohol addiction but they can help with gambling addiction and other addictions and mental health issues.

This rehab center isn’t your typical rehab. The men are part of a year-long program that makes sure they have a solid foundation for sober life. Clients will have addiction counseling, group counseling, and classes in coping skills, relapse prevention, understanding addiction, parenting, and anger management. The rehab is Christian-based too so there’s a spiritual background to it all.

One factor that makes this rehab especially helpful is that they fully prepare clients for life after they leave. They give clients job training and preparation for jobs like woodworking, car detailing, and retail. To make the shift easier, they also have aftercare and transitional services like a sober living home on campus.

With everything they have to offer, Teen Challenge – Men’s Rehab helps men overcome their addictions and get a jumpstart on a new life to boot.

Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs encompass multiple levels of care to facilitate clients' progress through their recovery journey. Clients who are stepping down from inpatient treatment may require intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment, which involves more frequent and substantive therapeutic interventions than does standard outpatient care. Outpatient centers typically provide extensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Medication assisted treatment programs (MAT) and recovery-focused life skills training are also common in outpatient care.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

A sober living home in Florida often serves as a transitional residence for individuals coming out of inpatient rehab. This helps those in recovery avoid isolation that can sometimes happen after they return home from treatment. It offers a supportive environment where they can practice skills learned in rehab. Offering a combination of structure and freedom, men's or women's sober living is a good stepping stone to independent life in recovery.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

If a person with a substance use disorder continually denies their problem or refuses to get treatment, a drug intervention in Florida may be necessary. Intervention services can help mediate the intervention by providing an addiction expert. This professional can de-escalate situations and facilitate a healthier discussion between the individual and their loved ones. Specialists can also help families handle issues they don't know how to navigate on their own.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

The first step of the recovery process involves the removal of all drugs and alcohol from your system while under 24/7 medical supervision. Known as a medically assisted detox, you are closely monitored by medical staff who can provide medications, if necessary, to help alleviate any potential withdrawal symptoms. Medical detox is usually followed by a period of inpatient addiction treatment.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Therapists who apply cognitive behavioral therapy in Florida believe patient thoughts and behaviors are closely linked. They use this treatment method to help clients change their thought patterns so they can also change behaviors and break free from substance abuse.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

As a short term therapeutic method, motivational interviewing in Florida requires only a couple of sessions. During these sessions, you'll have the opportunity to talk about your circumstances and any discrepancies between your current situation and future goals. You'll then decide for yourself what changes you want to make.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy helps you work through the psychological impact that traumatic events have had on your life. Your therapist helps you identify the physical, emotional, and mental triggers and develop coping mechanisms. This helps rebuild a sense of safety and trust in yourself and others.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation. Teen Challenge provides a "Family Training Day" with the purpose of supporting and encouraging the student's family members.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition Therapy

Substance abuse creates biochemical imbalances in your body and brain. By implementing dietary changes, you can restore that balance. This is the goal of nutrition therapy in Florida. You'll gain an understanding of what nutrients your body needs and learn best self care practices.

recreational-therapy iconRecreational Therapy

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Your mind, body, and emotions interact in complex ways. Experiential therapy addresses all three of these aspects. Interactive and creative activities provide physical sensations and evoke emotional responses. These offer insight into how you interact with the world and any negative patterns you need to change.

I was a student at TC Orlando for 1 year and5 days. During one of my first weeks in the program a lady at the car wash was kind enough to ask how we were doing that day and encouraged us by saying "remember there's no perfect program" and she was right. There's plusses and minuses to every aspect in life.I am not here to discuss what I thought was wrong with or right about TCO. I will say that many of the negative things I read in other Google reviews have been rectified and are no longer relevant. My aim in writing this review is that you will enter TCO eyes wide open and not be upset or surprised at what you do/don't find and will encounter God, graduate and maintain sobriety afterwards.Let me tell you what Teen Challenge Orlando has to offerProfessional Services-If you require doctors visits or dental work, TCO offers transportation to and from appointments.Mentors provide regular opportunities forstudents to open up and talk about personalstruggles.AmenitiesKitchen/Cafeteria- Top of the line as far as rehabs go.All the coffee you can drink during breakfast but don't over do it.Meals are protein heavy, diverse and have a good amount of vegetables, essential for the brain's recovery on a chemical level.Stear clear of the sodas and limit your dessert intake or you'll get what's known as the TC 30 in your first 30 days. If not more...Dorms- Always cold but just in the way that you want.Mattresses- Par for the course. However, bring a $10 foam topper and you'll sleep like a baby, guaranteed.Closets- Each student gets half plus ample shelving space. There is a shed outback for shoes so the rooms don't stink and floors stay clean, 5pair limit.Bathrooms- They are super clean and you'll never run out of hot water; plenty of sinks and showers. Usually no wait time for your morning shave. Remeber to be a gentleman and clean up after yourself. Your Mrs. or future Mrs. will appreciate this later.Laundry- They will have a couple of designated students assigned to laundry duty and your clothes will be washed and folded on a weekly basis.Gym- Outdoor, covered weight area with elliptical, free weights, multi-use lift machine, mat for stretching and a HUGE tire to flip around campus and compete with others for bragging rights!A half court for basketball and sandpit volleyball area.Sorry, no in-ground pool. This is rehab, nota resort.Need something?TCO has a massive thrift store. If you're lacking anything outside toiletries and socks/underwear all you have to do is fill out a slip and an intern or mentor will have you hooked up and "drippin" in a day or so.Library- Several hundred books ranging from addiction recovery strories to deep subjects of the Bible and personal growth. I read over 60 books during my time spent at TCO. The best part was a series of biographies about Christian heros of the faith. I read all of them. My one take away was this- Not a single one lived a boring, unfulfilled life once they fully surrendered It over to God and chose to walk in faith and obedience. The same can and WILL happen for you if you make that choice.Work DetailMonday 12-5, Tue, Thur, Fri, 9-5; Wed 9-4:30, Sat. 8-5Usually done a little early to make it back for dinner."What?! This sounds like a labor camp, not a rehab!!!"Well all your needs are provided for and "regular" people work 40 hrs a week. Think of it as a 12 months of retraining for when you get back out into the real world. You get to build up your work ethic without the pitfalls of spending a paycheck on drugs or alcohol.Furthermore Teen Challenge has over 1400 locations in 125 countries. Not all are financially self supporting. So the efforts put in here ensures that others receive help elsewhere. If you look at it from this perspective your outlook will be a lot more positive. Please see attached photos for complete review. Note- Reading in order 3, 2, 5, 4, 1

Jesus used Teen Challenge Orlando to deliver me from a decade long nightmare of drug addiction, severe mental health disorders, and a crisis of identity. I received restoration with my family and found my will to live again. I encountered a God who loves me and I experienced the fullness of His presence in my life. I owe my deepest gratitude to the staff and interns who helped me see the call God has on my life. If you're ready to forsake the past & renounce your life of sin, Teen Challenge Orlando will give you the space and place to pursue Jesus with all of your heart. It was here that I was enlightened to the power and person of the Holy Spirit. God restored my sanity and brought peace to my anxious heart. God answered my cry from that first night I arrived and I owe the foundation I now have to this place and the people who have committed their life to seeing others find freedom. If you're sick and tired of being sick and tired, this is the place for you.

Any system that places more value in performance or image than they do on empathy and love is not reflecting the true Gospel. When the power of the sword is used rather than the power of the Cross what you get is a bunch of broken men treating their outward symptoms of inner hurt just long enough to complete a program. The moment real adversity comes- so does the fall. They preach about a teen challenge bubble as if the power of Christ only exist within the confines of their defined parameters. Rather than empower the men to reach beyond their wildest dreams (like Ephesians 3:20 tells us-unless I m using a different Bible) they use fear to suggest that we can only be successful if we walk THEIR same walk. Literally the only time we hear about former students while we are in the program is when one relapses and needs prayer or when they pass away. That intentional filtering of information is used to instill fear. Interns are paid $50/week to work 50+ hours (btw this is a pay raise from the $25/week it was 6 months ago-you know, to keep up with inflation. Then they are promised staff positions and told trust the Lord s timing as every last drop of ambition is wrenched out of them. I pray every man encounters Christ, the true risen King-not the Wish version TC portrays in their weaponized single lines of scripture. Can I get an owner response?

After 25 years of gambling and drug addiction, and a life of hopelessness and despair, I entered Orlando Teen Challenge where my life was forever changed. Teen Challenge is an amazing program! I ve been affiliated with the program for years off and on through various churches and most recently in the past few years, having the opportunity to teach these men and help them with the deliverance and freedom that is so needed in today s world. Teen Challenge brings an excellent biblical approach to seeing people set free according to the Word of God. They are resolute in their mission and have an outstanding reputation for also impacting their local community through their service and faith in the Lord. I have highly recommended people in the past for the program and will continue to do so moving forward. They have a very good track record when it comes to rehabilitation from life controlling substances and addictions. Unlike many secular program they base their entire foundation and success on the Bible and their trust in God through Jesus Christ.
