About Spark to Recovery

Spark to Recovery is a drug and alcohol rehab facility located in Sherman Oaks, California. They provide treatment for adults with substance use disorder. They offer medically assisted treatment as well as detox to their clients.

If you still have drugs in your system when you arrive, you will go through their detox program. They offer clean comfortable rooms and a 24 hour a day medically trained staff. They’ll monitor you regularly and they will provide medically assisted treatment for pain if you need it.

They give you an assessment that consists of a medical exam and many questions about your drug use history. They will also give you a psychological exam to see if you have a mental health condition in addition to addiction issues. They’ll customize a treatment plan that will consist of group and individual therapy.

I liked the variety of therapy methods they offered here. Like most rehabs, they use behavioral therapy which teaches you how to think differently so you can change behaviors that are hurting you. They also offer moral reconation therapy that is designed to improve your moral reasoning abilities. You’ll get to participate in art therapy and nutritional therapy. They offer meditation and sober outings as well. Having a creative outlet and a healthy lifestyle will help decrease your desire for substances.

Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Our Policy: Spark to Recovery works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact us to verify your specific insurance provider.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nutrition Therapy

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Spark to Recovery was a great rehab facility that helps someone in need during their recovery. The best part about this place is the outstanding staff (special shout out to Bethany, Jake, Jess, Jamie, and Latifeh) who go above and beyond everyday as well as bringing fun, laughter, and smiles to the program. Spark makes sure that we have a variety of food available throughout the week as well as snacks throughout the day. The wide variety of groups that Spark provides (led by staff as well as outside speakers/teachers) ensures that clients leave with numerous tools to help make sure their journey continues down the right path in the future. During my stay I was also fortunate to work with the great therapists Hayley & Rosa on site who helped me gain confidence in myself and my path forward. Finally, I was able to find a sense of community through Zoom, off site meetings, as well as with other clients at the facility. Overall, I am grateful to have spent time at Spark to Recovery, and even through minor inconveniences, the staff were always there to make sure myself as well as others got the most out of our stay.

Spark Recovery has made a huge impact In my life. They took me in after my relapse when I was at my lowest deep darkest depression. I had dug a dark hole in my life and did not know how to get myself out. Admissions was very helpful and there for me through the beginning steps to get myself into treatment. Throughout my entire recovery process the staff was amazing. They have made such a difference in my life, my recovery, my happiness,. I am laughing again and cannot stop smiling. The staff there are all amazing. They helped me with everything. Herschel especially was there for me every step of the way helping me with many different obstacles that I was uncovering throughout my journey there. The dream team ( Bethany and Jacob) were always making me laugh, smile and encouraged me so much to come out of my shell and were there for me especially when I was suffering the most. Travis was the first person I saw when j walked through these doors and his team of staff is what makes spark recovery such an amazing treatment center.. I am forever grateful for the help from. My Case manager Jessica for being there for me every step of the way. Latifka, Jamie and my therapist Haley played and integral park in my recovery process tbere. If you re looking for a good residential treatment center that has excellent groups, detox medication assistant program, and really loving and caring staff then Spark is the program for you. My experience at Spark to Recovery was 5 stars. I reluctantly went for a 7 day detox. I came with next to nothing, as I left all my belongings at a hospital in a drunken episode. Jesse, a tech there, went above and beyond to help me find my belongings as I didn't even remember where I was. With her help, I located my things. This relieved a lot of anxiety and allowed me to focus on what I was there for.The house is gorgeous and sooooooo clean. There is a tv in every room. They have a pool table, ping pong table, and many board games to keep you occupied during downtime. Bring your bathing suit they have a pool! The meals were good and they provided snacks all day and night. The staff was amazing. They treated me like a human being, not a dollar sign. Every one of them made me feel important, and they took every need I had seriously. Never was I made to feel like a burden. The groups were educational and even fun.If you are looking for a place to detox or go to treatment, I highly recommend Spark to Recovery. You won't be disappointed.

Spark to Recovery: A Life-Changing ExperienceThis was my third time in treatment, and Spark to Recovery was by far the best. Here's why:* Comfortable Facility: Unlike past experiences, Spark's comfortable environment allowed me to focus on recovery. It helped me step outside my comfort zone while still retaining the benefits of the program.* Exceptional Staff: The staff genuinely cared about my well-being and recovery. They enforced rules fairly to create a stable environment and treated us with respect. Their experience with addiction allowed them to guide us effectively.* Delicious Food: The homemade food and variety of cuisines were amazing, especially since I often struggled to eat in treatment before. The 24/7 snacks helped me relearn healthy eating habits.* Transformative Content: The program provided lifelong lessons that changed my perspective on addiction and recovery. I learned about my triggers, how to manage cravings, and the importance of mental health in recovery.* Lasting Results: I left Spark with the tools and mindset to stay sober. I'm excited to continue my recovery journey and live a positive, addiction-free life.Overall: Spark to Recovery exceeded my expectations. The entire team, including Hershel, Travis, Kayla, Jacob, Haley, and others, played a vital role in my success. They made the experience positive, fostering hope for the future.Highly Recommended: If you're considering treatment, don't hesitate to choose Spark, even if you're out of state. You won't regret it.Thank you, Spark!

Spark helped my son immensely. We flew 3000 miles to be part of this wonderful program. The music therapy as well as the MMA resonated with my son. He told me the staff was wonderful and worked hard to be sure you were cared for. Highly recommend Spark! God bless you for helping our son
