About Branden House

Family Guidance Centers is an alcohol and drug rehab center for adults with several locations around Illinois. Branden House is their residential treatment facility located in Manteno, Illinois. Collectively, their programs include detoxification, inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment, medication assisted treatment and aftercare services. Dual diagnosis care is available for clients with co-occurring conditions.

Inpatient treatment is for those who need mental and physical stabilization. This is a highly structured and monitored style of treatment that often incorporates detoxification into the process. Once stabilization has been achieved, counseling, educational classes and behavioral approaches to treatment can begin. Common elements of inpatient include individual therapy, group therapy, and at times medication or trauma-informed counseling.

Branden House offers round the clock care for individuals who need intensive treatment. At this level, clients usually have serious substance use issues that are greatly impacting their quality of life. They’ll show you how to overcome those issues and teach you basic life skills. The goal is to help you live independently so you can eventually transition down to outpatient care. Some of the evidence based services they offer here include motivational interviewing, MAT and cognitive behavioral therapy.

I have spent time in several rehabs and detox facilities. I had been using for over 20 years and nothing was working. My time at Brandon House saved my life. The people that work there genuinely care and many of them are recovering addicts themselves. My life has changed completely. I will be forever grateful to this very special place.

Accepted Insurance

Branden House works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Specialized Assistance Services, residential treatment program “Branden House”, is a state of the art Level III.5 treatment facility with a service capacity of eighty beds. It provides treatment for male and female substance abusers, and services Cook, Will, Kankakee, Kane and Kendall counties. Residents remain in treatment as long as clinically indicated. Branden House is the only long-term residential treatment facility in the state of Illinois that provides methadone as an adjunct to the standard substance abuse treatment services.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs provide a full continuum of care for clients who are exiting inpatient treatment. Though outpatient care is often considered an element of drug rehab aftercare, services typically continue for the remainder of the clients' life and long after formal treatment is completed. Clients work with their case managers and care team to formulate a customized portfolio of medical, mental health, and social service resources designed to evolve as the client's needs change.
12-step icon12-Step
Participants in 12 step programs focus on emotional, psychological, and spiritual growth as the foundation for long-term sobriety. They engage in regular 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, and accessible day and night, year-round, in most communities. Participants also receive one-on-one mentoring from a self-selected sponsor. Though the 12 steps of recovery are based on spiritual principles, religious affiliation isn't required. Specialized formats are available, including programs for seniors, teens, and families.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Loved ones can utilize a drug intervention in Illinois to help with addressing a family member's problematic substance use. The goal of the intervention is to educate the individual about the negative effects of their substance use and encourage them to accept professional treatment. Intervention services can help families initiate this conversation and plan appropriate follow-up care, such as inpatient or outpatient rehab.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Illinois is designed to help people recover from addiction to a number of substances. The length of each program and its intensity tend to vary, and the plan of care is based on your individual needs.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

If I could give 0 stars I would!!! This place is nothing like a 28 day program!! Way understaffed and it s clearly for a reason. The place looks more like an institution than a place to get help with recovery. Clients barely complete the 28 days and reason why is because of the program manager mainly. This place should be shut down honestly!!! More clients need to leave reviews because if you really want help STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!!!

I went to Branden House this year of 2024 for about 2 weeks and I have to be honest if your looking for a decent recovery home to get your life back on track this is the place you want to be . Overall the staff go out of there way to help you in your recovery . The food is off the chain great !!! They feed you like a horse , The meetings are pretty deep and intense at times and they pretty much are on point with getting you medicated and on a decent road to recovery . They take walk ins people just putting that out there . So anyone who is sick and suffering looking to get there lives back on track again than I highly recommend you check this place out before going any place else ! Branden House I tip my hat off to all of you !!! Thank you for all your help and support I will never forget my experience with this place !!! Kudos !!!!

HorribleLowest professionalism we have ever seenthey accepted our brother then made him sleep in the entry until he saw a nurse. Then they called to say they would not take him and left him twisting in the wind. He is a vet in need of help and we cannot get it. Do not refer people to this place really horrible experience

It is overall a good inpatient rehab. The food is wonderful I'll say you'll never go hungry while in there, you'll put weight on! But I will say I had taylor as a counselor and I would NOT recommend her at all she is no good. The counselor Lori is by far WONDERFUL!! She took the time to help me with things when Taylor wasn't doing nothing! If you want the help to get clean then go there and do what's best for you! Good luck to everyone!

I was administratively discharged for defending myself I tried hard to not fight back but had to. Still should have figured out a better way to respond. I wish I could have finished the program but I'm still grateful for the experience and for people like Cassidy, Elijah, Lori, Paris, and my nurse who always wished us the best day ever. They deserve to be payed for their love and care. They made me feel like I mattered. I will succeed. As for the patient's it takes a lot of patience but always remember we are there for ourselves. We don't have to live in fear anymore there's power in saying no to our addiction. Love you guys always. Sam Dorado

I was here at Branden house back in the day, n the staff was WONDERFUL. Willie Hall, Joseph Thomas, and Natasha were the best. Ms. Love was the cook back then n let me tell u she can throw down on the cooking. They made u feel real special, with the things that they give u to do. The best place I have ever been to that helps you with ur substance abuse problem. I have read some of the reviews and all I can say is that everything ain't for everybody. But if u ready for change this is the place.

My stay there was was so so. The staff was pretty awful. Miss Janice was a racist and treated staff and clients awful. Dennis the cook was always high nodding out over the food. Only thing that made the place tolerable was miss Laurie and Heidi. Omg I can't say enough good things about the 2 of them they really care and it shows. Brandon house is extremely lucky to have them and I would hope they treat them as good as they should cause any other place would be lucky and honored to have them. They are the reason I gave it 5 stars and also the reason I speak highly of the place and suggest it to future clients.

I was afraid at first. But, my counselor Ms Laurie Knight got me through it. She was so helpful, knowledgeable and caring of all the counselors. Her groups were the most informative. She deserves much praise. Also Ms Heidi. The food was horrible.
