About Rise in Malibu

Rise in Malibu is a secluded drug and alcohol rehab program in Malibu, California. They deliver Joint Commission accredited detox, inpatient treatment, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and aftercare services to adult clients. Their campus boasts luxury amenities and a seaside view.

Detoxification at Rise Malibu takes place in its luxury residence. Clients complete this process in private rooms under the care of trained medical staff with the latest tools and methods. Staff help clients manage their symptoms so they can safely begin the next phase of substance abuse treatment.

The inpatient program helps clients with severe symptoms get away from their stressors and triggers by allowing them to stay at a private residence for treatment. Clients can enjoy the many amenities of the property and surrounding beach under the safekeeping of staff, who help tend to their needs and support their progress. Individualized treatment plans may include individual therapy, family therapy, case management services, community based recovery groups, specialized education groups (including men’s and women’s groups), yoga, acupuncture, massage therapy, experiential therapy, and dual diagnosis support.

Clients approved for MAT receive medication as part of their treatment plan. Typically, these medications help curb cravings. Medication use through this program is closely monitored.

Aftercare planning focuses on relapse prevention. Clients work with staff to develop a plan before they exit the program, which may include referrals to other programs, connecting to community resources, and sober housing plans.

Many major insurance plans, such as Aetna, Beacon, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, and Humana, cover some or all of addiction treatment costs. Clients must confirm coverage with their plan first, as out of network benefits may vary.

I ve never encountered such warmth, with strangers offering hugs upon arrival. Accepted Insurance

Rise in Malibu works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs offer clients in addiction recovery a robust continuum of care after clients have completed active treatment. These services address recovery as a life-long process and are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs. Clients may partner with their case managers and/or addiction recovery team to identify the rehab aftercare services that are right for them. They may receive career counseling, housing assistance, peer coaching, 12 step program induction, among many other services.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
During the first phase of recovery – detox – it is crucial to have 24-hour clinical care in California. This care provides constant monitoring in order to ensure your safely and comfort as you progress through the withdrawal process for drug or alcohol addiction. Licensed professionals prescribe medications to treat withdrawal symptoms and provide frequent monitoring to ensure your safely as addictive toxins leave your system.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
When addicted, quitting your drug of choice suddenly can be dangerous. That's why experts agree a medically assisted detox is the safest way to remove addictive substances from the body. Usually done in an inpatient setting, your vitals signs and overall well being are consistently monitored and rechecked in order to keep you safe and ensure the detox is successful.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

For clients who are struggling with ambivalence toward change, motivational interviewing in California can help strengthen their commitment to change. Using a conversational method, the therapist helps you explore your motivations and empowers you to make the changes you desire.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Substances can prevent the absorption of nutrients and cause damage to your body's systems. Nutrition therapy in California addresses the deficiencies in vitamins and minerals that are caused by substance abuse.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Rise in Malibu is a great facility for a few reasons.First off the accommodations are second to none. The Private ensuite rooms along with the majestic Ocean Views were special. The Private Chef and amenities were top notch. But most importantly the Treatment Team and Staff are not only Tops in their field, but they are also "Human".The Dr's and support staff know how to convey their knowledge in a way so it makes sense to you.The reasons why a person chooses to Self Medicate is complicated.Rise is able to make some sense of it all.If you're ready, then this is the place to be.

I am writing this review to share my experience with Rise. I spent time helping a close family member vet several rehab facilities to send him to, and I'm glad that they ended up at Rise.Rise in Malibu stood out to me for how they offer individualized treatment plans for eachclient versus all clients being forced into receiving the same exact treatment thateveryone else receives. They got "1 on 1" sessions withDoctoral level mental health professionals multiple times per week. They also received private sessions with a psychiatrist, and group treatment/programming that were facilitated by awide range of professionals with extensive amounts of experience and expertise.I also could not have found a more ideal setting, location and facility to send them to.They were happy being there! The facilities at Rise in Malibu were state-of-the-art.Private en-suite Rooms. They offered Massage Therapy, Reiki, a full gym, swimming, mindfulness/meditation and more. The food is also top notch The meals were made by a private chef.I will end this review by saying that I feel that it s unlikely to findanother treatment/rehab facility that offers all of these things under one umbrella.Rise is Definitely The "Real Deal"

After years of struggling with addiction, a friend of the family referred me to Rise in Malibu, for treatment. From the moment I arrived there, I knew I was right where I needed to be. The staff welcomed me and always treated me with dignity and respect. I felt very safe and soon realized that there could be a better way to live! I remember trying to justify my actions when I was using and realized what I was doing was not working for me . I needed help!

Rise is an amazing facility with even more amazing people working there. Ron s heart is in the right place and he takes pride in his facility and the staff he hires (the owner). Fantastic clinicians. The food is excellent and the views are spectacular. Unlike other treatment centers, what you see is, in fact, what you get. Cannot recommend enough.

Rise is more than just a retreat it's a haven where personal growth flourishes. For over two decades, I've had the privilege of knowing Patrick, the owner.Pat is the heart and soul behind this transformative space. His unwavering commitment to helping others navigate the complexities of recovery has touched countless lives, mine included!!His hands-on involvement ensures that every individual receives the care and attention they deserve. Having "walked the walk" himself, Patrick brings not only expertise but genuine empathy to his role, creating a safe space free from judgment, guilt, or shame. What also sets Rise apart is its intimate setting, where each detail, from the beautiful homes to the private en-suite rooms, is designed to nurture the body, mind, and spirit. From the incredible location to the delicious cuisine, every aspect of Rise speaks to comfort and luxury. Yet, it's the warmth of Patrick's caring and kindness that leaves the most lasting impression. His ability to impart knowledge with patience and empathy elevates the recovery journey, offering not just treatment but a roadmap to lasting transformation. At Rise, healing isn't just a destination it's a journey guided by compassion, wisdom, and the unwavering support of a true friend.
