RCA Devon was my fourth attempt at in-patient treatment. Had I gone there for my first attempt at rehabilitation I would have saved myself & those who love me 14 years of pain. I absolutely LOVED my time at RCA! Not only was this the first time I actually completed 30 days of treatment, it was the first time that I did not contemplate leaving early or AMA. My first morning at RCA I was welcomed into a group of lovely women. Women who sat without judgement, women who truly cared about one another & wanted the best for one another. And this was not a coincidence. The entire RCA staff, men & women alike, embodied & fostered an environment of support & kinship. My only negative experience was in my final days when trying to resolve the issue of my lost possessions. (During the admissions process hundreds of dollars of my cosmetics, toiletries & clothing were lost.) Just prior to my discharge, in a feeble attempt to appease me, some items were anonymously placed on my bed. Among them was my hair dryer(returned broken) & a pair of jeans which were not mine. When I tried to return the jeans to a staff member I was told "just keep them." When I told her "no" she asked "why? Don't they fit you?" I had to explain to her that whether the jeans fit me was irrelevant - - someone was missing a pair of jeans & perhaps we should try to find the owner. To that comment she replied "ha, good luck with that around here." My advice to anyone considering RCA? GO! It will change your life. Just be sure to label your items as best as you can. Should you experience the same misfortune as I, do NOT leave the premises until your items are returned to you or until you have a check of reimbursement in hand. Because once you are gone you are forgotten. I left there 11 months ago with possessions still missing. I have yet to even receive a return phone call let alone any reimbursement which I was assured of many a time.

Accepted Insurance

Recovery Centers of America at Devon works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Each patient receiving inpatient treatment works with their medical staff to develop a personalized plan of care. The drug and alcohol treatment center plan delivers a customized clinical treatment program based on an individual patient’s needs, under the guidance of an experienced clinician, medical director, and personal case manager. Their integrative approach treats the whole person, focusing on the primary addiction and all physical & mental health issues.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients receiving services from a rehab aftercare program are usually stable and in the maintenance phase of recovery, having completed detox and/or intensive inpatient treatment. Rehab aftercare services can vary widely based on clients' individual and evolving needs, but often include peer coaching, relapse prevention support, 12 step program induction, and medical, mental health, and social service referrals. Individual care plans are typically developed by the client in partnership with their case manager and care team.
12-step icon12-Step
The values of the 12-step program are omnipresent throughout their treatment plans. They help their patients replace negative people, places and things with positive people, places and things. They believe in every patient’s ability to learn and thrive with good treatment, and that a rigorous 12-step foundation enables patients to transition successfully into a life of recovery.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Detox programs are a critical part of a drug and alcohol treatment center program for many patients. Detoxification can pose serious health risks and must be carried out under medical supervision. Medications may be involved to ensure a safe withdrawal while helping to ease the pain and discomfort often associated with withdrawal symptoms. Patients undergoing detox are closely monitored 24 hours a day by physicians and other medical staff.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Pennsylvania is devoted to the treatment of addiction. Levels of care, treatment methods, and settings differ, but the aim of each program is to end drug dependency and empower participants to achieve long-term recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and dysfunctional eating patterns. Many psychologists and other mental health professionals consider eating disorders to be food addictions, meaning food is being used in an addictive way (similar to drug or alcohol addiction). Certain substance abuse treatment programs will have treatment for eating disorders as one of the services offered. An eating disorder may also present as a co-occuring disorder or dual diagnosis alongside drug and alcohol addiction.

Equine therapy, aka equine-assisted therapy (EAT), is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions and activities with horses. It does not necessarily involve riding horses, but all activities related to horses, such as feeding, grooming, haltering and leading them. A mental health professional frequently oversees the activities (often in conjunction with a horse professional), and helps patients process their thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns during and/or after the interaction.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

The nutritional specialists at their drug and alcohol treatment centers believe in the timeless adage that our body is a temple. They strive to help their residents build their bodies into strongholds that will weather the journey on the way to life re-imagined. Devon’s nutritional experts are also aware that there isn’t one diet that works for everyone. With this in mind, their approach is that each resident gets the proper guidance and nutrition to optimize their success.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Do not go for treatment

I was a patient at RCA in PA. I was treated very poorly. A staff member named Megan rss said to me “stop your bull shit” and I was told I was just one of 300 residents and my concerns were dismissed. I was scheduled to use my phone at 1:00 and the employee didn’t come ... Read More

I completed the GOP program at RCA. They charged my credit card for every session I attended even though my insurance paid for a majority of the treatment. I am owed $1800 which I still do not have over a month after my completion of the program. I was willing to be patient with them returning my money. However, the way they have conducted themselves is completely unprofessional.Billing is impossible to get on the phone unless you call admissions and have them transfer you over. I also called and emailed the director of the program Megan. She never answered any emails or returned my calls. I spoke to another woman on the phone Stephanie and she acted like *I* was the one being unreasonable. She told me she would call with an explanation a month ago. She never called or answered any emails from me. When I finally got ahold of her again, she told me she didn t know anything and I had to follow up with billing (who never answers).I just find it funny because if I owed RCA any money, they would probably be knocking on my front door by now. But when it s the other way around, silence It almost feels like they re taking advantage of and stealing from alcoholics and addicts. Thank GOD I noticed that my credit card charges were in error or I truly believe RCA would have just kept my $1800. If you go here, double check that they re not stealing from you.

Yes, I have nothing but good things to say about my experience at RCA. Within 30 minutes of calling them they had a ride on their way to pick me up. Admissions process was thorough but pretty fast. All of my needs physically and mentally were covered during my detox and my stay was comfortable. Schedule was full but plenty of space for me time. There's is a gym , yoga, art, music therapy, meditation clas and CBT classes. AA/NA mtgs. Food was ok,,,nothing to write home about but that's not important. I had full access to my treatment program and aftercare planning. The alumni program is really good. If you want to stay in touch after your stay there's alot of alumni groups and activities to partake in if you choose. Tuesday night alumni mtg every week as well. For real,,if you're about staying sober then you're going to see that RCA will help you as much as you want to help yourself.

I ve made 8 rehab stops in my life, RCA Devon was my 8th and final stop, God willing! As long as I keep it simple, and just do the next right thing and walk in good orderly direction; blessings will abound, as promised.Through the love, kindness, and support by my specific therapy team, the aftercare staff, medical team, holistic approaches to relieve stress and anxiety, and the Alumni association RCA Devon encapsulates quality care through the whole recovery cycle. They nurtured my soul, so that my spirit could shine bright, and for that I am forever grateful!

I went to RCA in January and again this past August. The reason I returned is because I knew it could help me get my life back on track after my relapse, especially considering how much it helped me my first time. This place is well equipped to meet you where you're at. I particularly appreciated the group activities, speaker meetings, the facility's amenities, and the feeling of support from all directions. Ultimately, though, you get out of it what you put in. They also do a wonderful job with alumni outreach, and I just have to shoutout Bob Gibson who made returning to the facility a breeze. The support continues once you leave RCA.

First off the staff was good. Now they lost my cigarettes and didn't replace them until the night before I left, still trying to find three shirts that are missing. When I left they "forgot to give my suitcase of clothes to the driver". Fast forward to today, supposedly had a Drs. Appointment at 11:15 made by them. Get to Drs after taking off of IOP they tell me they have no record of any appointments. Good luck if you choose RCA
