About Grants Family Counseling

PMS Grants Family Counseling is a behavioral health center in Grants, New Mexico. Whether you’re an adult, adolescent, couple, parent, or family member, this facility strives to provide care with your needs at the forefront. Clients can access outpatient treatment for mental health and substance abuse.

If you’re busy with life but still prioritizing treatment, their outpatient program can offer support as you live at home. Clients benefit from group, family, one-on-one, and couples therapy, crisis services, and medication evaluation and management. Depending on your local community needs, you can access specialized programs focused on different treatment methods like multi systemic therapy, traditional healing, psychosocial rehabilitation, comprehensive community support services, medication assisted treatment, and more.

It’s wonderful that they provide specialized treatment programs as incarceration alternatives. When you have an addiction, it can often influence you to commit crimes and do things you normally wouldn’t. People in the criminal justice system with substance use disorder benefit more from treatment vs. incarceration. Treatment gives you the tools to understand yourself and develop coping skills to sustain recovery and reduce criminal behavior. It further provides a caring, supportive atmosphere with people and peers who want to see you win.

Why is it ok for you guys to miss appointments. But we get notice of ours. Be real. I guess this place is limited with therapists. They don't respect a Doctor's Referral.

Accepted Insurance

Grants Family Counseling works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
When your body is purged of all addictive substances, the process is known as detoxification, and this is typically the first step in the addiction recovery process. A medically assisted detox is generally performed in an inpatient setting, where you are monitored by a team of medical professionals who consistently check and recheck your vital signs and provide medications if necessary to help alleviate any withdrawal symptoms. After you've safely cleared drugs and alcohol from your system, you'll likely transition to an inpatient addiction treatment program for the next phase of your recovery.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Each drug rehab in New Mexico offers unique amenities and treatment methods. Common aspects of treatment include group and individual counseling, recreational therapy, medication management, and healthy living. Aftercare is often provided to prevent relapse.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

They turned my kids away & I without any good explanation, said we weren't a priority on their list of things to do. Too unprofessional, do not waste your time here.

I had a horrible experience with their service. They only give you 45 mins per session but they charge you for a full hour, $125 per session. If you use the extra 15 mins they charge an extra $100. I have rather severe mental health issues and the "professionals" there really should've understood how people like me may not be fully aware of what's going on. When I took my in-take they charged me $225 for evaluation and $25 more for online therapy. This is a tiny town, where few if any therapist live or will ever go here unless a job forces them to. Making people pay $15-25 just to use online services in unconscionable! How on Earth are you ever going to see someone other than online when there are so many people that need help and so few who are able to help. After months of seeing me, no one gave me a spreadsheet or a price breakdown. If I didn't have the insurance that I have they would have charged my thousands without me being fully aware of what they charge. I had no idea what everything costs until billing sent me a bill that was months overdue. They even failed to charge my insurance for months. At one point my therapist offered social therapy, but failed to mention that extra service costs money. They just kept billing me, I will be very lucky if my insurance doesn't increase my premium for all of the excessive charges. I'm furious with PMS and will never use any of their services ever again. I wouldn't use them for mental health issues unless you make sure they tell you what they are charging you. My therapist actually said, "Don't worry will figure it out later." PMS figured they would just keep charging me and never really explaining anything until they send the bill. I whish I could sue them, but I doubt I have a case considering I signed up for everything the offered. If I could give them 0 stars I would, absolutely horrible service

I initially left a 1 star review. I ll admit the process to get in is kind of annoying but the therapist I wound up seeing was really helpful. I still go back to him occasionally. He helped me come a long way. The front desk are only people too and are actually really nice. I m going back and forth between the 4 and 5 star because of the intake process because it s so annoying Fill out 2 packets then make an apt to answer questions (takes about 30-45min) then you make an apt with a therapist. I believe you have to do it yearly.

Great therapists that actually listen to you and help you find solutions that work for you. Much less thrilled with the enormous wait time to see the psychiatrist...
