I was in the softball team and volleyball too. I miss that place.. Yes it was difficult at the beginning because of the bullying but it stopped.. but those left then the ones that stayed we were ok.. Made friends there but lost contact with some but 1 friend we keep in touch through FB. M.H. was I place I needed at the time. You go to school so we wore uniforms no biggie. If you genuinely need help, this is the best place to go for community and self accountability. The woman in charge may be a lot, but she has to be and genuinely cares. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. The staff is amazing and they will help you. Just don’t try to fool them. You either get better or you don’t. It’s up to you. I've also had therapy in a Sagamore office in my alternative school for counseling. My experiences at the center itself have been mostly positive. There were plenty of activities set for myself and the other adolescents in the day program, and the staff themselves were very personable and kind. I loved doing yoga, having relaxation sessions, singing, and learning other practical and coping skills. I also really enjoyed my time at the respite home. It was quiet during my time there, and we'd occasionally watch movies and do activities outside the home. On the other hand, the office at the school was a mixed bag to say the least. The therapist I was primarily paired with was "forced to retire" after I've had multiple sessions spanning years, along with other patients, where we all felt dismissed, ignored, and she'd just tell our parents everything she told us without our knowledge. Even things that weren't emergencies or about immediate harm. The therapist(s) I had that weren't her were all great, though. The psychiatrist at that office, while reasonable with medication management, was also just really cold and disinterested every time I met him. Not sure if he's still there. I have my mixed feelings with Sagamore, but my experience shows there are definitely well-meaning people in this particular center. The people there have helped to kick-start a difficult yet great change for myself. I have no knowledge on the in-patient side, but I hope the same amount of care is given to their patients. That counselor is still friends with My Family and we speak. The place was very clean almost all the time. The activities and restrictions really sucked but it was what I needed at that time. When I first got there I heard stories of a sister (Nun) named "Madelin" (I think that was her name). Everyone said she was super mean but one day, in the cafeteria, I made her laugh with the help of my friend Shonda who was just as silly as I was. One day, my side did a talent show to the song "I got a man". One of my closest friends at the time had to be my "man" and we are both female. We grew up in a different time when we could say how silly that idea was without being cancelled and boy did we have a lot to say lol... We played along and the memories are unmatched.
