About MedMark Treatment Centers – San Antonio Quincy

MedMark Treatment Center is a CARF-accredited, state-licensed outpatient opioid use disorder rehab located in San Antonio, Texas. One great thing about this facility is that they accept Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance. Their core specialty is medication assisted treatment or MAT and substance use counseling. Both services go hand in hand in opioid addiction recovery.

MAT combines medication therapy with counseling to provide a holistic and lasting recovery. Medication therapy involves the use of FDA approved medication to curb cravings, minimize withdrawal symptoms and prevent relapse. The facility offers both buprenorphine and methadone maintenance services.

Methadone is the foremost FDA approved medication for treating opioid use disorder. It is especially ideal for severe opioid dependence. In contrast, buprenorphine is typically used for mild to moderate cases. Nevertheless, both can be part of a comprehensive treatment plan for opioid addiction. Normally, the care team will determine the most suitable medication and dosage based on your specific needs, as identified during the intake assessment and screening. The counseling aspect of MAT comprises individual and group sessions. These help you uncover the root cause of the addiction, build solid coping mechanisms, learn problem-solving skills and develop strategies for long-term recovery and relapse prevention.

They also offer family counseling, which can help improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen relationships, supporting the recovery process for you and your family. Additional services accessible in this facility include case management, coordinated pregnancy treatment, addiction and relapse prevention education.

They also provide referrals to community resources, discharge planning and support, and guest medication services. Most past clients praised the facility for saving them from the clutches of opioid addiction through their quality medication assisted treatment. Yet, a few criticized the facility, citing long wait times and unprofessionalism on the part of their staff.

If I can give this place 0 stars I would omg these people are a damm mess. I really needed to see someone, so I can get my medication. Well I called Medmark the lady scheduled me appointment for this location due to the fact on military dr which is 16mins from only do intake on Tuesdays & Wednesday. When I tell you I left out at 4:10 am just to get there on time for my 5am appointment & I had the $147 for my visit cost & $16.50 everyday just to get my medication. Well I get there just to be turned right back to my house reminder I wasn t feel good at all, very weak, in pain , didn t get no sleep for 24 hours & I just overall wasn t feeling like myself. The big fat black women with the little bun in the back she refused to take down my information, told me there is no intake they changed it to just Tuesdays now!!!!!! So, I went all the way back home told the same lady who booked my appointment I did not get seen, I informed her on how I felt & was treated. They kept telling me they re going to reach out to the top higher management to see what they can do for me & there so sorry but never did. I wrote this to let y all know do not go to Medmark they don t care about you, Texas is a money hungry state & they do ppl dirty without a care, like I said Medmark never fixed this situation or gave me my damm medicine even though I have the money & insurance!

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Doesn't matter if you are first in line. If you have clients, they only allow the workers to go first. Be ready for long wait times. Edit:this is for those early times. For quick admission, use 9am-11am.MAYBE TRY TO NOT CRASH INTO VEHICLES? I KNOW YOU NEED YOUR FIX BUT ISNT INSURANCE ALREADY HIGH ENOUGH?! I had my hazards flashing and you STILL almost hit me head on while I was backing up! Moron!

Response from the owner1 year ago
Our policy is to schedule plenty of time between patients in order to avoid long waits. We strive to deliver the best care possible to all our patients, but we occasionally fall behind schedule because of emergencies. We value your feedback and want to thank you for taking the time to share it. You can contact our clinic director at (210) 794-8684 if you have any further comments or suggestions.

MedMark is a great place to go if you're a worker. There you can cuz at customers break HIPPA law and still work there. It used to be a great place to to go but instead of caring for the patiences they care more about how the counselors feel. They say that the cameras work but I believe that they are lying bc they would see the truth! Lucky for me I was able to record what really happened. Even though I was trying to show the director what really happened she would not look at it. Sad bc I used to enjoy going there. If you're looking to talk to a counselor it will take about 6 to 7 months to get a hold of one. They fight against each other unless they have to come together to save themselves. They open 1hour to 45 minutes late to open some times but if you ask what is going on their response will be really nasty and condescending. Instead of doing what is right they get rid of people who complain about their behaviors. Im now in the process of getting legal advice. HORRIBLE PLACE GO ELSEWHERE!

I've put off writing this review because I wanted anything I had to say to be based on my experience as a whole and not off of any one time instantaces like most of these other reviews. I've been going to this clinic for 3+ years, and I've seen ALOT of good passionate hard working people come and go thru the years. Each and every one of those people worked hard to do their job, most with a smile on their face and I respect that. There have been some not so great employees from time to time but I've noticed they don't stick around long so they really aren't worth mentioning. I will say Allison, the most recent head nurse is a very professorial and passionate woman and she easily manages the overload of work, which I think most don't take into consideration. She is the type of person who will give you the same (and most times more) respect and courtesy then you've shown her. The people who have negative things to say should probably look within themselves for reflection. I've noticed the complaints stem from people not getting what they want, or they get caught doing something they shouldn't and blaim the person that caught them rather then taking accountability. If this review was on the patients that go to this clinic I for sure would not give the same 5 star rating! And just for putting up with everything and everyone this clinic puts up with they deserve these 5 stars! The wait times vary depending on the time you go, at 6am there is hardly anyone there. The busiest times are right when they open and just before they close. People always complain about having to wait but it doesn't bother me, I know eventually I will have my turn just like everyone else. The Dr is a bit old school and can come off as a little cold but I honestly think he is a good man and cares about the wellbeing of his patients. Most of the people that complain about him are the ones that don't get what they want, or expect special treatment. I truly appreciate all that y'all do and my 3 years sobriety is a reflection of the overall treatment I've received. THANKS for putting up with us thru our highs and our lows!! Special Thanks to my former counselor Cat for always believing in and advocating for me :)

If I could give 0 stars I would. Dr. Carreras(however you spell his name)was the coldest, cruelest and most condescending doctor I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. He doesn't handle things on a case by case basis. He lumps everyone into 1 category. The way we were treated by the people here was disgusting. No one deserves to be treated the way we were. To top it off..there's no one to complain t exceptGoogle! !
