Maya’s House is a residential substance abuse treatment program located in Cairo, Georgia. Residential treatment at Maya’s House requires that all participants must detox prior to admission. The 12 month residential addiction treatment program focuses on initially providing highly structured care for those who need a safe place to begin their treatment process. As stability is achieved, skills development, education, and the power of new lifestyle choices are introduced. They utilize a multidisciplinary approach to family counseling, psychotherapy, self image therapy, and psychodrama. Children participate in therapeutic childcare services offered onsite while their mothers are receiving treatment.

Individual therapy creates the space to explore the psychological challenges associated with addiction. Often this includes unresolved trauma, anger, depression, anxiety, and the need for more control or autonomy in life. Group therapy involves treatment through the process of connecting in a group setting to discuss and work through mental, emotional, and physical issues. There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, and psychoeducation. Maya’s House offers continual care and support to alumni. Group therapy may be continued at alternative locations upon completion of the program. The center may make referrals to outside drug rehab programs.
