About Marina Harbor Detox

Marina Harbour Detox is a private addiction treatment center for adults in San Francisco, California. The levels of care offered to Marina Harbour Detox clients are mental health assessments and counseling, medically-assisted detox, and aftercare.

Mental Health Assessment & Counseling
Clinicians at Marina Harbor Detox provide comprehensive mental health assessments to evaluate the severity of the client’s substance use disorder and the presence of any co-occurring disorders.

All assessment information is used to create an individualized treatment plan. The client may also receive individual counseling to discuss the detox process, answer questions, and talk through any post-treatment recommendations.

Inpatient Detox – Medical
Medically monitored detox is for individuals with acute substance use disorder – or those who use substances regularly – and may experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop drinking or taking drugs.

Using medication helps to provide withdrawal management and safely and comfortably alleviate withdrawal symptoms until the body has detoxed from substances. Following successful detox, patients will be referred to a formal addiction treatment program to support long-term recovery.

I stayed at this substandard facility for less than 48 hours last June, and it felt like I had to fight to leave. The food consisted of chips, instant oatmeal and Mac & cheese. There were bags of garbage left sitting in the kitchen, and some one else’s pubic hair left in the alleged private bath. All my things were treated with disrespect and crammed into laundry hamper. I felt I was treated with condescension & indifference and manipulated not to leave. I found the staff mostly watching sci-fi / horror movies; not engaging or nurturing. I had to demand my phone and things back,in order to get myself out of there. The director did finally assist in making calls to the program ; I had to self advocate to go to, AND I DID. My experience with this facility was unpleasant; put mildly . In the end, this enterprise billed me $2000 , after fully billing my insurance , for a less than a 48 hour stay. I am 9 months sober today and I am grateful to the beautiful ones who helped me start this journey; but this business did none of that.

Accepted Insurance

Marina Harbor Detox works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients receiving treatment at an outpatient rehab typically do not require hospitalization or intensive supervision and support. Outpatient addiction counseling and recovery education are often offered during the morning, evening, night, and weekend, allowing clients to tailor treatment to their own schedule. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are the most time-intensive and are designed for clients who are at an increased relapse risk and/or who need more robust therapeutic support.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) support a client's sustained sobriety as they exit detox or step down from an inpatient program. IOPs are also designed for clients who are at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in a minimum of nine hours of therapy per week, but clients may receive up to 20 therapeutic hours weekly. IOP treatment modalities often combine psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs offer clients in addiction recovery a robust continuum of care after clients have completed active treatment. These services address recovery as a life-long process and are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs. Clients may partner with their case managers and/or addiction recovery team to identify the rehab aftercare services that are right for them. They may receive career counseling, housing assistance, peer coaching, 12 step program induction, among many other services.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The length of stay at the detoxification program is determined according to the specific needs of the patient.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in California is a method that therapists often use for the effective treatment of substance use disorders. It is based on the principle that substance abuse stems from unhelpful ways of thinking and patterns of behavior, which can be changed by helping the individual learn better ways of coping.

While participating in dialectical behavior therapy in California, you'll focus on four key areas of skill development: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. Treatment includes weekly individual and group sessions.

During group therapy, men and women learn to express their emotions openly in a non judgmental setting. This helps you process your feelings and reduces feelings of social isolation that are often associated with addiction.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.

The goal of couples therapy in California is to strengthen the couple's relationship. The therapist may take one or more approaches to counseling which may include the Gottman method, emotionally focused therapy, behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic couple's therapy.

Family therapy offers a platform for members to have an open dialogue about the challenges that addiction has placed on the family unit. Through guided sessions, therapists can help families develop healthy communication skills and address unresolved issues. By working together toward a common goal, they help to support their loved one's sobriety.

A VERY nice detox center. The staff here are some of the most knowledgeable and caring individuals you'll ever meet. They'll go above and beyond to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. The single rooms you stay in each have their own individual bathroom. Their is plenty of food to snack on with healthy options and just enough comfort food to make you feel at home. If you're looking for a comfy rehab with an intimate group setting to talk through your deeply routed issues that got you there in the first place, I can't recommend this place enough. Honestly, I could go on for hours about how incredible of a detox center this is, but you get the gist. I just want to give a big thanks to Jax, Tony, and Jake, who have all been a huge part of my recovery, and who have each shown me that my life in recovery is more than worth fighting for. Much love!

This place saved my husband s life, as well as mine. The admin staff helped me get my husband into a 7-day medical detox program on a very short notice, kept me informed of his progress and followed through with their promise to find a recovery program after the detox. My husband is currently in a recovery program that was recommended by Marina Detox and doing very well. I hope we will never need their services again but for those in need, they may also save your loved ones lives.

Marina Harbor Detox was incredibly beneficial for me starting my journey in recovery. The relationships I developed with staff were genuine, meaningful, quality relationships. By the time my stay was over it felt as though I had known these people a lifetime. There is no substitute in my opinion for experience and many of the staff here are people in long term recovery who have actually been through the war and came out on the other side! An added bonus is the beauty of the location. Super comfortable individual rooms with views of the sunset over the Golden gate Bridge are not easily forgotten. Big thanks to Marina Harbor Detox for giving the highest quality care I've ever experienced and also for continuing to follow up with me after I graduated the program. Such a committed caring staff its amazing

I am so grateful I came into contact with Marina Harbor Detox. I called multiple facilities to find a spot for my sister and I just didn t feel quite sure about where to get her help. Once I got information and a game plan from Marina Harbor I just knew in my heart it would be the best fit, and lo and behold it was. The staff were so helpful and caring and we couldn t be happier with our decision. We owe all of my little sisters success to the staff and facility. She s still sober and we couldn t be any more proud of her. Thank you again to everyone at Marina Harbor. We will be forever grateful!!!

Website is a complete lie. Staff are 25 years old. No one in charge of your care. Push people for more money and try to get it from your family and friends.
