About Long Island Consultation Center

Long Island Consultation Center is a behavioral health counseling facility in Elmhurst, New York. They specialize in outpatient mental health and addiction treatment. They also treat dual diagnosis disorders, which is when an individual is dealing with both addiction and mental health conditions simultaneously. They prioritize seamless, personalized recovery oriented services.

This is possible through their multidisciplinary team of care personnel that includes licensed therapists, credentialed counselors and psychiatrists. These professionals are grounded in substance abuse and addiction therapy.

They offer medication assisted treatment for those struggling with opioids or alcohol misuse. This recovery solution uses FDA approved medicines alongside counseling to treat substance use disorder. Individuals in this facility’s mental health program can also receive medication management, where doctors ensure you have the right medications to help treat your illness.

The Consultation Center provides individual, family and group counseling. Their group sessions cut across specific age groups and behavioral health issues. Telehealth service is also available for flexibility and convenience. Past clients have mixed experiences. Some commended the facility for quality care, citing professionalism on the part of care personnel. Others consider their services terrible and the staff unprofessional.

Accepted Insurance

Long Island Consultation Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

I would rate them minus fifty below zero if I could. Don't go. Mercenary tactics, will violate your rights and therapists will always assume the very, very worst. Even the front is corrupt and will stoop to lies and threats to get control of patients. Personally, I don't know how some of the people there sleep at night with the way they carry on business.

I started therapy and it was going fine until my last session. The therapist started dozing off and actually falling asleep. I tried calling the facility to speak to a manager, the intake coordinator, the director, anyone. I just wanted to switch my therapist and start over with another. The receptionist would always take a message and I would never get a call back. It s literally been months. Fast forward to this week, I tried calling again to give this place another chance and hopefully start over with another therapist. I ve left several messages and still, no one returns my call. I don t even know why I bothered. I wouldn t recommend this place at all. Very unprofessional. I ll be seeking therapy elsewhere.

I love my therapist. She is wonderful and has truely helped me through tough times. My therapy Sessions with her have really helped me. As FOR their DIRECTOR CRISTA SHE IS HORRID AND ACTS LIKE SHE CANNOT PERSONALLY SPEAK TO CLIENTS WHO HAVE ISSUES. SHE ALSO THREATENS TO DISCHARGE CLIENTS IF THEY DO NOT AGREE WITH THE SERVICES THEY ARE RECEIVING. IM LIVID. Im simply trying to get an understanding and I keep getting rerouted. RUN if you have any type of comprehension or you know your rights as a client. If she is OVERWORKED she needs to look for a different field or population to work with.
