outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Clients receiving care in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) typically have completed inpatient treatment, but some choose to enroll in IOP immediately following detox. Intensive outpatient rehabs offer high-level support for clients in early recovery and those at an increased risk of relapse. Most programs provide between nine and 20 hours of treatment per week, with services ranging from addiction counseling to recovery education to medication assisted treatment (MAT). Holistic therapies, such as acupuncture, are common.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Sober living homes in Michigan act as a bridge between an intensive level of care and the freedom of independent living. The primary rule in every sober living home is to stay sober. If a resident breaks this rule, they can be evicted. However, this environment is designed to prevent relapse, with mutual support, 12-step meetings, a structured schedule, and drug screenings.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

During a drug intervention in Michigan, family, friends, and colleagues share in their own words how a person's substance abuse has affected their lives. An intervention must be carefully planned, with the goal of encouraging the individual to get treatment for their addiction. Many rehab programs offer intervention services to help families prepare for this confrontation and guide them through the recovery process.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

During a medically supervised detox, addictive substances are removed from your body while under the 24/7 supervision of medical professionals in an inpatient environment. This is the safest way to wean your body off of addictive substances, since quitting alcohol or certain drugs (like opioids or benzodiazepines) can be dangerous if done on your own. The program typically lasts around 5-7 days, but is highly individualized depending on your needs.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Addiction often involves intense situations and emotions. Dialectical behavior therapy helps you understand and regulate your emotions and better manage the situations that evoke those feelings. You'll receive mindfulness training and stress management training to cope more effectively with difficult emotions.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

I have been a patient at this office for 5+ years and have had continuous issues with keeping my prescriptions filled. They do not return voicemails or phone calls left with staff. Their main MD refuses to call patients back. The rest are residents who have you go through yo ... Read More

I went here several years ago when I was a minor and still frequently think about how awful the experience was. The therapist I went to recommended me to be hospitalized but, when we called to ask about it, the ER nurses told me not to come because I wasn't actively attempting to take my life. They suggested partial hospitalization instead, which I decided to go with because it made sense. When we told the therapist this, she tried to insinuate that the reason I hadn't gone to the ER was that my mom didn't care about me as much as she (the therapist) did even though we had been TOLD not to come. In private sessions, she tried to convince me to distance myself from my mom and heavily insinuated that she cared more about me than my mom did. She would go as far as to blame my mental state on my mom and say that she wasn't doing what was right for me/was a detriment to my recovery. I have never had this experience with any other therapist. She completely botched an important appointment by not showing up at all and then tried to blame the misunderstanding on my mom, but we had proof that it was without a doubt her fault. The staff, when they were actually there, were very unhelpful, and the environment was depressingly dark. I have since gotten way better but absolutely none of my recovery is due to my time here. Considering the other reviews, I can see I'm far from the only one who had an issue here.

Provider is decent but they never get prescriptions sent in. Nor do they return calls within 3 days as they claim too. You literally have to stalk them to get your prescription even after having a telephone visit with your provider. If there was another option I would most definitely take it.

My psychiatrist (dr Dodd) never personally assessed and just took my self diagnosis as fact, then gave me meds and canceled every session the next 8+ months

EMBARRASSING! Whoooo boy, this place is a real waste of time. Just got off the phone trying to reach them for 11 minutes (collectively). Why was I so intent on speaking to someone?Well, the timeline is something like this... November 16th, supposed to see someone to work with me on getting meds in order. She calls two hours late asking if I can speak then, apparently she had an emergency. We rescheduled for the following day. November 17th, we discuss the next steps needed etc, and I feel a little bit easier about the whole situation. She was going to call me back. Following Monday- silence Tuesday, I had to take the initiative and call her. To which, she said she would call back at 2:30pm. 3pm that day, she did, very briefly. We were talking, when all of a sudden her phone cut out. I called back only to get the voicemail! Tried again, voicemail. So, I left a message. Now, today (11/29/21), I call to receive a Verizon message saying that the number is invalid. W-t-f?! I then call the office, and we've come full-circle. No answers, no vindication, complete silence (tacky jazz waiting music aside).Invest your efforts elsewhere, somewhere professional.

THEY PRESCRIBED ME DOUBLE OF MY CURRENT PRESCRIPTION WITHOUT DISCUSSING IT WITH ME AND I ALMOST DIDNT NOTICE. When I called to talk with a doctor asking for a refill, I confirmed the dosage. They are also able to see what the dosage was in the past. awe did not discuss an increase. I trusted that they got the dosage correct so I didnt think to double check, but the tablet was much larger than expected. I also had to call several times to have it sent over to my pharmacy. Messing up prescription medication is very very dangerous and I will be finding another service ASAP.

I'm really not surprised by the negative reviews here. I cannot believe they expect people suffering from mental health woes to remember to schedule all follow-up appointments. Practitioners should be scheduling these AT the appointment. You could have to wait four months for another appointment because you forgot to call after your appointment. Wait times on the phone are abhorrently long, and god forbid your practitioner forgets to put in a refill or screws it up, because the phone process is long and confusing. I once had to wait over a week for a medication because the practitioner never sent it in, then sent in an old medication, then that one was the wrong dosage, and it was all sent to an old pharmacy in another town. There are a lot of very frustrating things about this place that cause me to not be able to recommend it to others if you can help it. U of M is terrible, but this place is barely a step above U of M mental health. Try somewhere else!

Our experience with Meriam Sam has been unsatisfactory. I believe Meriam is a capable nurse practitioner and can offer sound support/advice to her patients however our interactions with her have been extremely unpleasant and leave us feeling more angry than anything. Her ego is astounding.Meriam s communication skills are poor. She doesnt stop talking long enough to listen and talks at a pace that is too fast to follow. She also doesn't know how to converse with parents of a teen patient. My last discussion with Meriam included her telling me that I do not understand my daughter like she does. We have only met with Meriam twice. Our second meeting was post-neuropsych evaluation. It was extremely rushed and Meriam seemed to be looking at the report for the first time in front of us. She became very focused on a comment in the report that I questioned after it was clear she did not read the report prior to meeting with us. This led to a one sided discussion (Meriam talking again) that added a new medication to our list, did not address how her current medication is working or not working, disregard for previous recommendations for care, and a new recommendation for another appointment with a specialist.I have also been told by Meriam, very firmly, to not talk to my daughter about what she is going through. In addition she told our daughter nothing in our home would be changing for her. I believe that to be out of the scope of a CNP.Our family is moving on to a new CNP. Meriam Sam may be a good fit for some but she is not a good fit for us.
