About Harmony Recovery Center

Harmony Recovery Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a mental health and substance use disorder treatment facility. The recovery center is licensed by the State of North Carolina and is accredited by The Joint Commission. The center opened with a desire to create a therapeutic environment for individuals to heal from addiction. They believe in providing individualized treatment that is outcome driven and evidence based. The facility can help individuals who are addicted to various substances, including alcohol, opioids and meth. The goal Harmony Recovery Center has for all of their clients is to become fully functional members of their community.

As a part of their intensive outpatient program (IOP), patients have freedom and personal responsibility while also receiving structure and support in maintaining their sobriety. Staff members will help clients develop a productive daily routine. The facility offers the patients the option of staying in partnered supportive housing or staying at their own homes. Clients will attend the treatment program either in the morning or evening. They’ll participate in individual and group sessions where they’ll focus on developing skills that will support them in maintaining their sobriety.

The medication assisted treatment (MAT) available at Harmony Recovery Center is designed for clients who’ve been unable to maintain long term recovery. The drugs that are used to help clients deal with withdrawal symptoms are Suboxone, naltrexone and Vivitrol. This program will usually last one to six months. Patients participating in MAT will be required to participate in one other treatment program such as the partial hospitalization program (PHP) or the outpatient program.

Harmony Recovery helped open up to my root problems that are the cause of my previous drug usage and desire to self medicate. I'm firmly in control of my body and brain, know my triggers and have even decided to pursue a career in drug addiction counseling because of the excellent teaching I received at Harmony Recovery Center!

Accepted Insurance

Harmony Recovery Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The length of stay at the detoxification program is determined according to the specific needs of the patient.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
A sober living home in North Carolina offers structure and support to help individuals maintain sobriety. The home is free from substances and offers 12-step programs, individual responsibilities, and mutual support with others in recovery. This setting can provide a lifeline as individuals strengthen recovery skills and prepare to reenter mainstream society. Most residents remain in a men's or women's sober living home for six months or more.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Often used as a "step-down" option after you've completed a residential or inpatient program, the partial hospitalization program (PHP) typically involves a minimum of 20 hours of treatment per week for approximately 90 days. Programs offer structured programming that includes relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services. Insurance coverage for PHP treatment varies among insurance providers.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

You usually develop a strong bond with your therapist during individual therapy sessions. This helps you explore the underlying causes of your substance use in a safe and nonjudgmental environment. Therapists help you develop effective coping strategies you can use in the community and improve your self awareness so you understand your addiction triggers.

If you're struggling with insecurity about your ability to make changes in your life, motivational interviewing in North Carolina could be a good solution. This type of therapy offers support and empowerment to help you explore your options and decide how to move forward with positive changes.

Routine tasks are difficult for someone experiencing addiction. Daily skills deteriorate, which makes it harder to achieve recovery. That's why drug rehab programs in North Carolina reteach basic life skills. This gives you the tools you need to manage daily life without returning to substance use.

During nutrition therapy in North Carolina, you'll work with a nutritionist to develop a dietary plan. Medical professionals will provide input based on your health needs. You'll learn to create goals for nutrition and develop the skills you need to meet them.

When you participate in experiential therapy in North Carolina, you'll harness creative expression to release negative emotions and experience positive ones. This happens through hands on interventions such as music, art, animal care, culinary arts, and drama.

LIES LIES LIES. You first call and really only talk to a salesman. They paint a picture you want, and then deliver something else. RUN from this place. They are just an insurance money grabber.

The Harmony Recovery Center has given my loved one the highest level of care and treatment for a co-occuring substance use disorder and mental health diagnosis. Recovery from years of addiction to and dependence on various substances, including prescriptipn drugs, is a long journey, especially when there is a co-occuring severe and persistent mental health diagnosis. The HarmonyRecovery Center has provided a safe and caring environment where my loved one can experience a holistic treatment approach provided by highly trained and knowledgeable staff committed to patient recovery. I appreciate everything being done to help my loved one on this journey to recovery. I'm especially grateful to Evie Dillard for all her help with providing housing and keeping me informed concerning my loved one's treatment. I highly recommend the Harmony Recovery Center for their excellent substance use treatment program and best practice mental health services.Rebecca Kaemmer

This place does not take recovery or your personal issues seriously. Was here for 2 weeks never once spoke to a therapist, matter of fact there were multiple people who actually finished their time without speaking to a therapist. They tell you once a week but you're lucky to get once in 30 days. I was physically assaulted by someone. They did absolutely nothing to keep me or anyone else safe when there were issues like such happening. Peoples cars that they left at the facility where broken into. Staff in housing is sleeping with clients. You can walk down the street to relapse and come right back into the facility or housing with as much drugs or alcohol as you want just as long as your insurance is active and they get their checks. I have been waiting a MONTH for them to fill out and sign statements for my short-term disability through my job and am facing the possibility of going to jail next week because I took off work to go here thinking SURELY they would get the statements signed I needed signed in a months time so I can get my check so I can pay my fines. Of course even after being discharged I have called MULTIPLE people over 10 times and the stuff I need done is still not done. Like I said this place doesn't care about you or your problems. If I could leave negative stars I would. What a great experience for someone who was trying to get help for the first time. Y'all like to flag reviews I see. Lol bet.

Housing is not bad and the HBT s are overwhelmed with the way new leadership has now taken over! The center itself is ok, SOME of the staff really care, now if you need help with medical, SERIOUSLY good luck the P.A. I think she got her certifications from Walmart or something, for multiple reasons! Seriously though medical is a LESSON pay attention they do not advocate for you nor help more than half the time! For migraines drink lots and lots of water hahahahaha, stuff like that! Trust me it s ALOT more silly and rediculous stuff when it comes to their medical there s 2 ladies on medical they have attitudes most times but they look out! Overall if you do what your supposed to and FOLLOW the rules which hell I don t think leadership even knows the rules they change every other day haha for real! 2 1/2 outta 5 3 tops, and cut out the sandwiches everyday damn y all tighten up haha! Overall I m very greatful for Harmony and the staff that did really help and care and went out their way for me and others! Love you Mrs. Amber and Miss Jessica!

Went here two years ago! I talk about this place often in therapy - and not for good reasons. RUN FAR FROM HERE. All the negative reviews are very accurate, and the "we will be flagging this" responses is a terrible attempt at damage control. These people like to use HIPAA as a shield, but violate it nearly daily. People going days without meds, people getting sick, disorganized, Patty being a sad excuse for a nurse, and patients' health being neglected. When I was here, a diabetic man was left without his medication for days. A girl there was in horrible pain, and she was told she was "just anxious" and she had to basically fight to be able to get to a hospital- for broken ribs! This place does NOT have anyone's best interest in mind. If you want to be traumatized and treated horribly, this is the place to go.
