Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital GA 31602

About Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital

Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital is a comprehensive and multilevel rehab in Valdosta, Georgia. It’s actually a mental health and behavioral health hospital, too, in addition to being a rehab. That makes it especially helpful for people who have a dual diagnosis, which means they have both addiction and another mental health diagnosis.

When I say that this facility is comprehensive, that’s no exaggeration. They have inpatient programs along with intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs. They offer outpatient treatment, too, with group therapy. So no matter where you are in your recovery they have the level of care you need.

This rehab also serves a wide range of people. They have programs for adults and for adolescents ages 12-17. They even have an inpatient program for kids ages 5-11.

One aspect of this rehab that I thought was notable was that they have separate units for substance abuse versus mental health. That way you know you’ll be with peers who are going through similar journeys. I also think it’s great that they accept walk-ins here so you can get the help you need right away and don’t have to get a referral.

I don't give this place any type of rating. I had to give at least one, in order to post this.......My son hasn't been there 24 hours yet and I can't get in touch with anyone. I call and call and no one answers. Sorry, I did speak to someone once and that person sounded like she was sick (lost her voice and was coughing). I thought that I had the wrong number when she answered. She did say that she would leave a message to have my son call. That was hours ago. Anytime before that and now, no one is picking up. This is a 24 hour facility. He wasn't even supposed to be taken there. I won't say what I feel like is going on but I do know that people need to be more compassionate and caring because if the shoes are on the other foot, they wouldn't want to be treated the way they treat people. Although, my son is not a minor, he is still dealing with something serious that requires TLC. Mental health is serious. He has people who cares for him and this is new to him as well as us. Please don't harm my son or make things worse for him. I've seen so many reviews that weren't good and I pray that you guys change my thoughts on how you service people.

WORST STAFF I have ever encountered. Especially, the night shift. Degrade patients. HORRIBLE & UNSANITARY boarding conditions. DISGUSTING & UNHEALTHY food. LACK of COMMUNICATION between Dr. s & families. My kid came out worse than she was when she went in, due to verbal and mental abuse by staff. They only care about your Insurance & money. Worse place imaginable. Save your family member PTSD and send them to a reputable medical facility with knowledge staff and Physicians. This place is HORRIBLE.

Accepted Insurance

Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. Greenleaf's adult inpatient program includes a mental health unit, a substance abuse unit, and a secured unit for diagnostic evaluation and treatment (DET).
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehab enables clients to receive addiction treatment while continuing to work and reside at home. Many programs offer evening, night, and weekend services so that clients may receive treatment on their own schedule. Outpatient treatment modalities typically include addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT). Many programs also provide step-down care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and standard outpatient services, to align with clients' evolving needs.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members. Group therapy sessions are held several times each day to help clients process their thoughts and feelings related to the crisis that led to hospitalization.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Most the nurses seemed to care some didn t. The receptionist Dosent care 1 bit about us. They don t seem to care enough to separate us from patients that are clearly way to close or follow you around constantly. I just played alone so I didn t piss anyone off. I never know what the results of pissing off someone seriously mentally ill would do. I was extremely uncomfortable due to overstimulation and being overwhelmed and no one even attempted help with that. They regulated me and then basically said you re on your own on release and did not give me my last dose of meds. They did not write scrips for everything they were giving me in the facility so i now have to prey my doctor isn t just like ha you don t need it and lastly on discharge my husband was getting there at 8 and the selfish ass receptionist was like well I m off work and no one else wants to watch you so wait outside in the HURRICANE WETHER!!!! For 35-45 mins for my husband to get there I feel very miss treated and it is not okay. They need to do better!!!!

I already don't like this place. I call to ask questions with regard to my 13 year old daughter and whomever is in admissions is extremely rude and as soon as I mention any concerns . She just cuts me off. Doesn't come off very friendly . I want to take my baby out of here already .Update: she's been there for a week and I've spoke. To my daughter twice . It's as though I bother them when I call if they answer the phone . It's like authorized kid napping . I just want to be able to talk to my child. It's as though these people don't have children because the lack of empathy and acknowledgement . Lastly Larry , one of her nurses . Not cool. At all.

i went here in march of this year on 1013 for a week and i was on the willow unit and it was the worst place i could have ever went to. the bathroom doors weren t even doors. they were crash pads with magnets attached. the rooms were freezing cold. the blankets were as bout as thin as paper. i had gotten 2 blankets and was still freezing . i had asked multiples nurses if they could give me some gauze and bandages as i was in there for sh and i kept bleeding and i got completely ignored. i got the bandages the day before i left.since they were bleeding it would get on my bed sheets and blankets and i did not get new sheets until a couple days after because they ran out . they day shift nurses and some of the night shift nurses were very nice and listened. but the rest of them were rude. i didn t talk to a therapist or wtv until they day before i left and i got forced on medication that added extra days to my stay. i got put on medication that made me feel worse than i did and when i told them that they ignored it and kept me on them. they put me on a medication that are for people who are dependent on opioids while i was in there for something not along those lines. when my medication got changed after i left and i had to quit taking said medicine it made me go thru withdrawals. i couldn t go without taking that medicine because it would make me sick and make me have withdrawals. i couldn t eat when i got there so i got told i could get ensures and i didn t get those. until 2 days before i left. i couldn t stomach food and they wouldn t give me another option until i was fixing to leave. i didn t get my clothes till way later to. there supposed to let us wash our clothes/they wash them but mine didn t get washed until day 3. they denied us phone calls to. i do not recommend sending anybody here.

I'm giving Greenleaf a five-star rating not for what they are presently, but for what I believe they could be. Speaking from the experience I had as a patient for a week and a half, there are many good people on staff here. However, the doctors they contract need to do less prescribing and more listening. A 5-minute conversation will not suffice to understand somebody enough to give them mind-altering psychotropics/SSRIs, etc. A little more love goes a long way and I hope some much-needed changes are made to help the patients that come here.

This mental Hospital is a nightmare. My uncle is a paranoid schizophrenic and was admitted a little under two weeks ago. Not only would they not let me or anyone in my family talk to him when we called to see how he was doing, but he is now in jail awaiting trial for simple battery. the people running this facility are horrific and downright monstrous.Edit after the response: No, thank you for the automated message that pretty much equals "we don't care and we will not change anything about the way we run this place". If you have anyone you care about that has be admitted to this hospital, do everything you can to pull them out, because they will leave worse than when they arrived, take it from someone who saw their own family leave this hospital in handcuffs and in shambles.
