About Forte Strong

Forte Strong defines failure to launch syndrome as young men who are struggling in their lives, work, or classes, and still live at home with their parents. They may have intense anxiety about doing adult tasks and may escape their stress by playing video games. This independent living program uses a combination of life coaching and therapy to help treat the necessary skills to thrive.

This program uses a five step approach that includes connection, discovery, coaching, being challenged, and repetition.

Former clients say they felt guided and cared about. They felt like treatment was effective and successful. Other clients said that the staff is extraordinary and that the program helped redirect their lives.

We are very thankful that we found Forte Strong for our son. Forte taught our son the skills to grow and develop so that he could become independent. Prior to FS, our son was not gaining these skills on his own at home or at college. The structure, discipline and accountability, combined with coaching and therapy, created an environment where he could grow and gain confidence. While we as parents had to step back and allow our son to rely on himself and the program support, by the time he graduated our relationship was much healthier. A weekly webinar for the parents is a key component of the program. Brook (program director) does an incredible job providing insightful and valuable parent education. He connects with the parents and helps them understand the underlying principles and processes of the program. We are grateful for the dedicated staff at Forte Strong and what they are doing for the students they serve.

There are too many reviews that have 5 stars. Forte deserves 6. Let me tell you why. I am Isaac Bradford-Feldman. I am 26 from Vermont. I came to Utah, August 2024 with dire need for support. I left Forte May, 2025 a changed man. About me pre Forte: During covid, I played video games for 10 hours a day. I had no friends nor interest to talk to friends. I had no independence, I couldn't buy my own groceries. I had no accountability. I had almost a gram of marijuana every single day. I lived in a state funded 'adult foster care'. I needed help bad. My parents realized the direction I was going. I came to my dad and said I needed help. I was ready to leave for Utah in two weeks. I was watching the movie, 'Dances with Wolves'. I was imagining Utah had bison and was something like that. I was nervous but excited for a change. My dad and I promised One critical thing that throughout my stay put me above many of my peers. No matter what, I would not quit the program prematurely until I was ready. My problem avoidance problem: How Forte Helped me with avoiding my problems: It was hot as hell in August. My forte was messy and my roommate was a jerk. Why am I here? Why am I doing this to myself I thought. I was blind to my sense of entitlement. I pleaded coach jake to switch forts to avoid my problem with my roommate. For the first time in three years, I had to face my problems. Paraphrasing here, he said, "No. You're going to have to put up with people you don't like and learn how to manage those kinds of relationships." I was very anxious. Confrontational. Serious. Reactive. And I thought my roommate was the problem. My roommate and I worked through it and ultimately, I was surprised how many common interests we had. The books: Forte will have you read many books. One of my biggest issues was accountability. A navy seal captain, Jocko wrote a book on how to take, 'extreme ownership' of any given situation. My dad would always tell me, "honesty is the best policy." How am I to be honest when its not my fault? I would think. This book helped me learn how to take accountability for my mistakes. Another book I read was The Slight Edge. This book taught me a new perspective to small habits and there benefit on my overall well being. Dave Ramseys Total Money Makeover helped me learn to manage my finances, not get into debt and save for an emergency fund. The Four Agreements helped me simplify the small things stressing me out and look ahead optimistically. The books I read in Forte were insurmountable to my development. My jobs: In Forte I struggled with employment. Its ironic looking back because now, I love going to work. Back then, It was like my parents were asking me to do chores. Culvers, Kohls, Natural Grocers. I worked in three businesses and quit all three. I could say this guy was a jerk or the management was this or that. Ultimately I was unable to make those jobs work. I was kicked out of the forts and given the blessing of homelessness. After I spent a night in the wild in a very cold night. Accepted Insurance

Forte Strong works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention Services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers intensive treatment to those with moderate to severe addictions while allowing them to return home. It is often an alternative to inpatient hospitalization and a "step-down" option from residential programs. PHP treatment is tailored to your needs and lasts an average of 90 days. Weekly sessions are up to 8 hours for 5 days a week and can include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services. The cost of PHP treatment varies but is often fully or partially covered by providers.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings. CBT is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective treatment, as it often covers root causes of the problem, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people some conditions to shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Couples at any stage of their relationship may benefit from couples therapy in Utah. It is designed to keep relationships on the right path by teaching both partners healthy forms of communication and conflict resolution.

Their son's failures can be distressing for parents, who want nothing more but to see their children spread their wings and successfully leave the nest on their own. Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in treatment.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional "talk therapy" by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). They immerse their students in a myriad of learning opportunities and in an environment centered around experiential learning which is why they feel Forte Strong is perfectly located for their students.

While our son did not end up attending Forte Strong, Will Jardine gave us terrific advice on what to do to get him out of the basement and into the world. He followed up with calls and was there to answer questions and encourage us. Our son now has a job in his field and is saving money to move out soon and be on his own. We are so very grateful to Forte Strong.

Our son attended Forte Strong for 9 months. There are many positive changes that he developed during his time at Forte that have stayed with him since graduating a year ago. He continues to communicate more effectively and remains confidently equipped to handle stress and conflict and respond appropriately. He continues to take life's curve balls more in stride and demonstrate that he understands what he needs to do to work through stressful events effectively. He is currently completing his degree and living independently. As a parent, the program was life changing for me. It offers a parent component that is voluntary, however, extremely beneficial in understanding yourself, how you parent and your relationship with your son. The tools that I have learned through my son's time at Forte have helped me in all aspects of my life and strengthened my relationships. The staff is incredibly knowledgable and caring and truly want the young men they serve to grow and live their best lives. 100% recommend.

Forte Strong is a program that helped our son improve his self-confidence, build positive life habits, and learn how to create and maintain relationships. Brook, Rodney, and the FS team are dedicated, experienced, and highly skilled at helping young people feel inspired to start building a life -- with responsibility, adventure, accountability, and fun. The first couple of months were a bit bumpy and stumbly, and then when things started to click, progress sped up and he relaxed into the routine. Post graduation, our son enrolled at Dixie Tech, is enjoying a part time job, and remains closely connected with FS. Enthusiastic praise for the FS program!

Forte Strong was instrumental in helping our 20 year old son get his life back together after he got hooked on video games and seriously sidetracked by life. Frankly, Forte gave us our son back. (The one we used to know before he became consumed with gaming). Our son is now heading back to college, he is engaging to be around & interacts with the family. Most importantly, our son is now looking forward to his future. We strongly recommend the program. (And we did 3 other programs before Forte, to try to get him off the video games. But, Forte is the program that was successful).

We were very fortunate to have found Forte Strong for our son when he was struggling to find his place in the world. He had enrolled in college for one semester, and it just wasn't for him. This left him a bit lost and unsure of what to do next. Also, it seemed Covid played a part of his disenfranchisement, and set him (and us) on a path which was not heading in a clear direction. We had definitely somehow failed to provide clear consequences for him and he didn't seem to know how to engage in the world around him in a healthy and positive way. On top of that, he had also always struggled with executive functioning challenges. The staff and well-defined program at Forte Strong worked wonders. The male only program gave him a sense of fraternity which he needed, and the therapists and coaches, as well as Brook Price, the Program Director, were strong advocates and models for engaging in life and moving into an active role in his own story. The program is very structured with clear consequences for following the steps toward overcoming executive functioning issues and getting on track to creating a independent life. I would highly recommend this program to any young man facing similar challenges. I would like to shout out to Brook Price, the Program Director, who was always patiently available for a phone call--sometimes an hour long or more--when our son was having issues within the program. He is compassionate, positive and amazingly patient with us as we worked to renegotiate our approach to our son. Also, the coaches, Elliot Spaulding and Kimball Coffin, were particularly present and available when our son needed it. And at the end, Mikey Smith, was so caring and available, too. The whole staff is truly amazing, caring and available when the young men need it.

Attending Forte Strong has been one of the most impactful decisions of my life. When I first decided to come here, I was initially skeptical of the therapy aspect of the program, due to my less-than-satisfactory prior experiences with therapists. However, as I got settled in, I discovered that the sort of treatment provided at Forte was exactly what I needed. I particularly enjoyed learning wilderness skills and going on hikes with Coach Kimball. St. George is a very beautiful area, and, while very different from the PNW, full of natural beauty. One of my favorite memories is going on the Man vs. Wild camping trip, and all the goofy shenanigans that we got up to. (Cruds! Cruds! Cruds!) The biggest obstacle I had to deal with was getting mobile. Before I came to Forte, I didn’t even know how to ride a bicycle, which made for a difficult start on my scooter. I kept at it, though, and didn’t let my failures discourage me. It took me six months to get my keys, but that just made it all the sweeter once I finally got them. Socializing with the other students helped me really come into my own. I’ve never been a particularly social person, so having to live with a bunch of other guys was a bit of a shake-up as far as my usual routine. That said, I met some of my best friends at Forte, and the relationships I’ve forged have helped me gain confidence. The coaches genuinely care about their students, and I feel comfortable counting them amongst the friends I’ve made at Forte. I appreciate the hard work they put in to make everything run, and applaud their ability to bring out the best in their students. I’m proud to have graduated, happy that this program exists for people like me, and hopeful that more young men will benefit from Forte the way I have.
