car-building iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

house-medical iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

house-medical iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

The therapist is very good but when it comes to doctor and medication, it is terrible. They went through 5 doctors in 2 yrs. No ones there to ever take your call except the receptionist in which all she can do is transfer your call to someone voice-mail. In which case they never call you back. So I'm currently running out of medicine in about 2 days cause I'm been waiting for a response to get my medicine refilled. I called and now I have to wait until next week to see a nurse at there office so I can be charged another 300$ and not be guaranteed if I get my medication. Firelands does not care about anyone with depression or anxiety. They cause depression and anxiety. Now I'm excepting side affects over xmas weekend. Thank you Firelands hospital and recovery. Maybe if I said I'm going to kill myself, I'll get some attention. Haha probably not, I owe them money.

Their staff members are lazy. They are unorganized and do not have good communication to set up transportation. They make you feel unimportant and that your treatment there is basically for no reason. I had an appointment scheduled for a month and they still failed to get me there when I set up transportation for every appointment. Case closed. I am done with these fools. It's a joke there.

I have to go with 3 stars ONLY because of Dr. Hedge. My counselor is amazing. My caseworker is amazing. I have felt safe and cared about with both of them and they both have honestly 100% had my back for the past year. However, Dr. Hedge is UNPROFESSIONAL. I had a phone appointment scheduled and he called 3 hours early without even asking if it was okay to call early. I was completely inconvenienced by this. I have to plan appointments just like the doctor has to. He also basically held my medication hostage. Over a month ago my pharmacy contacted me stating that my medication was about to run out and they have not heard back from my doctor to refill this medication. So my counselor contacted Dr. hedge and asked what was going on about this and to contact me. I was not contacted and ran out of medication. A medication that says NOT TO SUDDENLY STOP USING. We all know the risks from stopping medication for mental disorders. He basically risked my mental health... For no reason. I was scheduled for the phone appointment on schedule with what he stated during our last appointment. For him to allow this to happen is absolutely uncalled for. He also dictates his notes during your appointment. Using YOUR time during YOUR appointment to do the tasks he should do at the end of the day. The cherry on top is that I am to have surgery and the surgery department sent me for a psych evaluation and needed my doctor's to sign off as well for the surgery to happen. They sent forms for them to sign and return. My counselor did this right in front of me as soon as she got it. Took the paperwork to Dr. Hedge for him to review and sign. OVER a MONTH has gone by and he has yet to sign it. When I asked him about it during our appointment, he just laughed and said he "didn't remember it he gets a lot of things". He had no answer about it and now, no one knows where this paperwork is. So I have to start the whole process over. He is delaying my surgery by AT LEAST 2 months.I will never use him again. I will seek a different physician for medications.

The front desk couldn't care less about their jobs. Not sure how any of them are still employed. However, the actual medical staff is fantastic.

My daughter had an appointment with Penny Morgan and the parents were required to be there for the admission assessment. After rescheduling things and making this day and time work we arrived (early) to my daughters appointment with Penny. The receptionist was quite rude and said Penny isn t here today like we were inconveniencing her. We explained we had a scheduled appointment with her today. She turned around pretended to look for something and turned back to us and said yeah well she s not here today . So it was our problem that this counselor cannot keep an appointment nor notify patients of a cancelation. This was so inconsiderate and disrespectful. I would never recommend this establishment if this is how they handle patients. Now my daughters session has been exceptionally prolonged. God forbid someone would need serious help Bc they don t give a care in the world about their patients.

Many places claim to want to help you, but this place WILL. "The proof is in the pudding" if you will. And, this place will make a noticable difference, even from just day one. Even with something like the day to day stresses of consulting with your doctors about various things. They make that a simplicity by comparison, to the other places offering help, and not actually giving it. So, something that most places can't help with, they go above and beyond. With extensive knowledge on hand within the staff, as well as extensive compassion. Unparalleled by any other place you will find. It may take some time.to get into a psychiatrist, but it's due to needing to know the patient well before prescribing. HOWEVER! if you have meds you're getting in the meantime, they won't stop you from using those meds while they spend more time than any other, getting to know each individual, truly as an individual. Atop that, it's very easy to find in Amherst across the street from the KFC, and behind the Wendy's and McDonald's on the other side from the KFC. Don't worry! It's a very nice building, and you will surely feel much safer, and at ease the second you walk through the doors. With coffee in hand as well, for those who drink coffee. If you need a place that will take the time, you know you need to be known, this is the place for you. You can both call, and go in to set an appointment. It doesn't take long, if any time at all, to be seen by a therapist. As well, you obviously have a wide choice of therapists, and psychiatrists. Atop that prior mentioned, vast knowledge. Stop in today, for virtually any emotional need. They can help, and WILL.
