I probably could write a book about all the problems this place has going on. I use to be an RA for them, which they now call RSS, so I can tell you, this entire business is corrupt. I went here to get off drugs, and I couldn't do it by myself, so I will say, they at least helped me accomplish that much. Nothing else. They had head lice, I had to clean up my room mates feces almost daily, there was MRSA, I got horrible athletes foot, multiple clients had strep throat, (possibly COVID), and that is just the beginning! They have no disinfecting antibacterial cleaners! The drinking water is not fit for human consumption, and as a matter of fact, right in the lobby, their drinking water license is dated 2022. Honestly, I could go on and on. The employees took my clothing to "search" and ended up putting it into the donation, where it was given out to other clients. When I noticed, I was called a liar. The entire time I was there, I was repeatedly demeaned, shamed, beat down, and made to feel less than, being told that because I had previously worked there didn't give me any privilege. How in God's name, could someone possibly work on bettering themselves in that type of atmosphere?

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients enrolled in an outpatient rehab program typically engage in multiple therapeutic sessions each week, but reside in their own homes and communities while receiving care. Outpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction counseling, including family and group therapy. Most programs also emphasize recovery-focused life skills training and medical, mental health, and social support services to promote clients' sustained sobriety. Evening, night, weekend, and virtual services are widely available to accommodate the schedules of working professionals, students, and caregivers.
aftercare iconAftercare
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
It can be difficult for family and friends to carry out a successful drug intervention in Washington on their own. Intervention services can help. These services typically include education about addiction and enabling behaviors, expert facilitation for interventions, and recommendations for appropriate treatment. Often, the involvement of intervention services can create a smooth transition into rehab.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Effective drug rehab in Washington integrates care for the whole person, offering comprehensive solutions to addiction. Treatment methods address mental, physical, and relational aspects of substance abuse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Experiential therapy in Washington is based on Gestalt therapy. This method emphasizes experiences over language and is founded on the philosophy that clients can't just think their way to recovery. They must feel and do. Therefore, experiential therapy supplements talk therapy with experiences, such as equine therapy, art, music, or adventure courses.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Trisha over the phone was so compassionate, understanding and patient with me in answering my questions. She made me feel accepted, and I actually am wanting to go to this place. I know this review isn't a full one because I haven't been there yet (but I will if I happen to come here soon). Because of the amazing person I talked with over the phone, Trisha helped me realize that there is help for me and anyone else who is willing to accept it. Thank you for your exceptional customer service and for being there for those who need it.

Amazing place. Terry was my counselor and she was very straightforward and to the point. I listened to her and my fellow patient friend of mine didn't. I have over a year clean and sober and he is back on the streets, using. If you truly want to change this is the place to do it.

Just left after 3 wks there. I worked for four months to get treatment there after detoxing @ Ranier Springs twice. If you are into punishment this is the place for you. Ticketing will be on your radar....more than recovery. Very class based environment. Staff treat you like damaged goods. You have to keep your dirty hands off of things. Residents brought the covid in not staff. You are survailed/monitored every moment. Jail is easier....at least in jail you are not forced to listen to christian " patriot" music and grovel for a meal that sucks.

The few staff members it had were very nice but too understaffed. I've never been to jail but I felt like I was there. I got sick from the moldy community coffee pot. My food got stolen and it was a complete waste of time. No counseling really. Just opinions. No guidance. The only real consistent activity was meal time. DO NOT GO THERE!

This place is needed in many towns. The staff are special kind of people, very much caring even though they spread thin... The food is served in large portions so you wont be hungry. I tasted the love in every bite, never the sane meal twice! Counselors are very invested in helping each person whom wants to help themselves. Pleanty of time to complete homework powerful healing group sessions. The evenings provide free time ... Anyone looking to start a life free of drugs and or alcohol this is the place to build a solid foundation. Thats my personal experiencing speaking.

(Dont remove post) My personal experience at the Cowlitz Family health Center(Tuotle river campus) was a disaster. Ill start off by saying its a beautiful campus except its a level 3.5 facility and in the past history I learned the staff could not manage to prevent and handle the use of drugs from patience within their facility. What they did to stop that was by cutting off any freedom to walk the campus or smoke without any staff present and supervising, along with the fact there is no family visiting if they come to drop off anything you may not speak with them or staff gives you a ticket which is discaplinary action(rather not speak about their ticket system lol). There is girls at this campus but due to past history as well they've cut off any interaction with females so the girl and guys run on separate schedules . Theres endless amount of rules mostly they've made them up through out the years . If your looking for consistency, structure, support and a positive environment then this IS NOT YOUR PLACE . The Covid-19 virus has made it to where you have to wear a facemask at all time except in your room, you get 2 warnings and on your 3rd one your kicked out ... Also the facility is under staffed so smoke breaks arent consistent as it should be due to the schedule . There is only 2-3 groups a day and most of the time the counselers wont make it on time or at all. What really bugged me the most was for the most part we as a group would have so much time to sit around and do nothing because the facility doesnt go by schedule and it always changes so look forward to being bored and sitting around doing NOTHING . Good luck if you decide to go there !
