About Easterseals MORC

Easterseals MORC is a thorough drug abuse treatment program in Southfield, Michigan b. They provide intensive outpatient (IOP) programs to help clients lay the groundwork for long-term addiction recovery. They accept a majority of commercial insurance plans, including Medicaid HMO plans.

Their IOP lasts eight to 12 weeks. It’s customized to each individual’s needs and includes weekly meetings. In addition, the program offers social support services, access to psychiatric evaluations and medication management and family support services.

During your time in the program, your therapist will offer individual, family and group therapy sessions once a week. Outpatient therapy is meant for people who are actively engaged in their recovery and have transitioned from more intensive services but still require continued care. It also caters to adult children of alcoholics as well as members of codependent families.

Here, they also offer services for case management. These services help the client and treatment team identify and address problems that could be impeding the course of treatment or needs that are not well met by therapy services. Their recovery peer support services help people and families get well after drug or alcohol abuse. Their peer recovery coaches are people who have undergone their own recovery process and received training to offer peer support.

A good place to start is with their early intervention services. The services are meant to be brief, instructive, and helpful in assisting the person in determining whether further treatment is required.
Problems with substance abuse and mental health frequently coexist. For individuals with co-occurring conditions, their integrated treatment plan is the most successful strategy.

This facility was established as a non-profit organization. They offer health and human services in accordance with Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).

I worked as a respite and CLS provider for 4 years and worked for 2 separate families. MORC treated me like I never knew what i was doing and let alone, didn t pay me multiple times for weeks at a time with zero explanations and never answered any phone calls or emails. THEY DO NOT CARE. I wish there were more options for families, If you choose them, be prepared to do it all alone..

Julia, thank you for leaving a review. We looked into this as we don't show any history of your employment with our organization. With respite and CLS providers, we typically use a third party. We may provide some funding but it's possible that you worked for another company and not directly for us. We have not had any issues with staff not getting paid for weeks and if that ever were to happen, there would be lots of communication about the situation. We believe there is more to this situation than you posted above and we'd love to learn more, please contact us at 248.475.6413.

If you get Lacretia Fisher as your doctor I would ask for someone else. To me she was always unfriendly and made me jump through unnecessary hoops just to get my medication. Until she "forgot" to send my prescription to the pharmacy- then went on vacation. I've been out of medication for over a month and no one can help me. I've left multiple messages with the med staff, the office manager and emailed with someone from support. They all say, " I should hear back from someone." Two months after she failed to send the prescription I still have no medication. This should never happen. I would not recommend ES Southfield at all.

UPDATE: Rebecca, we were able to look into this matter and it appears that Dr. Fisher did not do anything incorrectly. Due to HIPAA we are unable to disclose more details than that. Rebecca, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are in the process of looking into this matter to learn more about what happened and to make sure you have medication.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
During a medically supervised detox, addictive substances are removed from your body while under the 24/7 supervision of medical professionals in an inpatient environment. This is the safest way to wean your body off of addictive substances, since quitting alcohol or certain drugs (like opioids or benzodiazepines) can be dangerous if done on your own. The program typically lasts around 5-7 days, but is highly individualized depending on your needs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.

Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is a structured way of helping those with major mental illnesses and/or substance abuse by bringing services directly to the patient in home. Instead of hospitalization or an outpatient program, staff members like social workers, psychiatrists, and counselors come directly to the patient’s house for treatment. ACT is used primarily for those with severe and persistent mental illness like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, some of whom also contend with substance abuse. ACT can be short- or long-term (months to years), and provides the same multidisciplinary, 24/7 staffing of a psychiatric unit, but in the comfort of the patient's own home and/or community.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Questions go unanswered. Voicemails in the general mailbox go unanswered. I, end up being told that I never left messages, when, in fact I did. When, I bring up concerns and things, I need help with, I get told, what do you want us to do about it. If I had the answers, I would not be seeking assistance and help. That's just the tip of the iceberg. I would not recommend Easterseals Michigan. Apparently, according to Easter Seals, I don't know my own address. They have the wrong address on file. However, I'm the one who doesn't know what I'm talking about. What type of fools are working there. Edit: My medical records are still not be released to me. Everyone I speak to has a different answer on how to get my records or just refers me to someone else. How hard is it to do your job correctly? Apparently, you don't need to do your job correctly to work at Easterseals. Edit: Most of the people I've dealt with at Easter Seals have been incompetent and rude.

Since Imelda does not want to keep her word and communicate, I will be updating this until someone within this corrupted company that has power will respond.*** BEWARE NOTICE FOR ALL PATIENTS & FUTURE PATIENTS ***Easterseals has compromised my information, which turned out shortly a week after I discontinued services with them.I received a phone call from Easterseals which was their business phone number - this phone call came from a PATIENT. This patient was attempting to schedule an appointment with someone named Jennifer .I reported this ASAP to the so-called caseworker Jose Parra. I escalated this to Rocio, their manager in this facility as well.We are almost at the 2 week mark, Rocio claimed that she would send this to the IT Department at the beginning, she never did as she JUST mentioned less than 10 minutes ago as of this posting that she would send it to them. Rocio also mentioned that she would call me back, I have had to reach out to her myself several times now.Rocio was upset because I threatened by saying I will report this. IF MY PERSONAL INFORMATION IS COMPROMISED THEN ABSOLUTELY I WILL REPORT THIS - ESPECIALLY AFTER IT BEING ALMOST 2 WEEKS WITH NO ACTION.Rocio claims that the program supervisors is out on vacation and thats why she cannot do anything at this moment - well it s good to know that a mental health facility has your back when they messed up.*** THIS BUSINESS IS VERY UNRELIABLE AND JUST THINKS OF THEIR PATIENTS AS A DOLLAR SIGN - UNDERSTAND THAT ***UPDATE: 2 WEEKS LATER AS OF TODAY I ONLY HAVE RECEIVED CONTACT FROM 1 SUPERVISOR. HER NAME IS EMILDA - SHE SUPERVISES THE SOUTHFIELD OFFICE AS WELL AND TOLD ME I WOULD NOT HAVE TO CALL HER THAT SHE WOULD CONTACT ME ASAP AS SHE SAYS SHE IS NOSY .I have left a few voicemails for her and Easterseals national office, a worker from the Southfield office claimed to send Emilda an email about the contact I attempted to make. They have all not responded. IF YOU ARE A MEMBER OF EASTERSEALS PLEASE LEAVE THIS CORRUPTED ESTABLISHMENT AND FIND ACTUAL CARE ELSEWHERE. AFTER GETTING TO KNOW THESE PEOPLE AND THEIR HIGH TURNOVER RATES YOU WOULD BE AMAZED TO SEE WHAT OTHER CLINICS CAN OFFER. DO NOT DO A DISSERVICE TO YOURSELF. YOUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS.* UPDATED AGAIN - THEY STILL HAVE ME IN THEIR SYSTEM AS A PATIENT AFTER SUPPOSEDLY TERMINATING Easterseals management Imelda does not hold her word nor does she communicate.Reply to the owner : you do realize Imelda contacted me just to tell me she has no idea what happened and that IT couldn t figure it out either you never resolved anything you left it empty handed. I remember mentioning how this will be filed as well. That call was logged between me and Imelda personal number. I recently received an appointment invitation with Kelly Boui and I m not supposed to be receiving services from you people. Nobody has contacted about this, after I left Imelda several messages. Insurance loved to hear that.

I think everyone that works here is EXTREMELY WELCOMING however... the issue is availability. This was pretty much my last hope & they were unable to find ANY group sessions or ANY PERSON that could sit down & help me sort through some things. I've spent several weeks seeking mental health services & not ONE company (including this one) was able to help. I've gotten no emails or anything about follow ups. My guess is that the ENTIRE WORLD is under stress which means I am unable to receive help & it feels like no one even cares. What a world we live in. It took so much to walk into a place asking for help only for NOTHING to be available for me. My advice is to dig as deep as you possibly can & find your strength from within because there is no guarantee that you will get help. Learn to be strong & fight your battles alone. This world will swallow you up if you let it. Its sink or swim

Response from the owner1 year ago
Jaye, thank you for taking the time to post a review and thank you for the positive comments regarding our team being welcoming. While it is true that we have seen a major increase in the need for our services, that doesn't mean that you should be waiting long for responses. I have forwarded your message along to the director of the location and she would love to work with you to get this addressed. If you could call me at 248.475.6413 so I can get your contact information, that would be great.

I am incredibly appalled. My partner uses this service and the workers are the absolute most unprofessional and rude. While on the phone trying to figure out what was happening with his script, the woman on the line said "get off my line; you have a problem every month; that has nothing to do with us - figure it out and find another doctor" and so on with the worst attitude and tone. He handled it so well and told me that's essentially his experience every single time. Absolutely disgusting; do better.
