I never had any problems here. The only mistake they made was after I told them numerous times that I couldn t stand to be around pregnant women (due to past trauma issues) they gave me a therapist who was pregnant but that was easily fixed by switching to a different therapist. Not a bad place at all.

I was asked at the front desk what mental conditions I had and why I was seeking therapy. Could we leave that info for the forms and not announce it to the lobby? Seemed like a blatant privacy violation

Accepted Insurance

Diakon Family Life Services works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Pennsylvania is devoted to the treatment of addiction. Levels of care, treatment methods, and settings differ, but the aim of each program is to end drug dependency and empower participants to achieve long-term recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Pennsylvania can be helpful to individuals who are experiencing substance use disorder and various mental health conditions. It helps you identify damaging thought and behavior patterns and replace them with healthy ones.

Dialectical behavior therapy in Pennsylvania is an evidence based technique that involves group therapy, individual therapy, and phone coaching. Group sessions focus on learning behavioral skills. Individual therapy gives you the opportunity to apply what you're learning to your personal situations. Phone coaching allows you to call your therapist during the week for help with challenging situations.

It takes a little bit to get an appointment, but once you do you can go as often as your therapist has an opening. Great place to go if you need any type of mental help. Please don't be afraid to reach out. I know I was, but I'm so glad I did.

Reported to me that it was a waste of time talking to my 13 year old daughter if she didn t want to talk and suggested maybe I try therapy. Had an appointment 30th of November that I had to reschedule due to daughter having an eye appointment that day. Appointment was rescheduled for 12-7-21 which I missed due to having two sick kids at home and not going to work that day which is where I had my appointment day and time written down therefore I forgot about it. Never got a reminder call which is fine however called on 12-9-21 advising was my first day back to work and noticed I missed my appointment and explained why and wanted to reschedule and they advised that I was now discharged. Never even got to have an Initial appointment.

Scheduled an appointment, then received a call the following Monday telling me insurance wouldn t cover. They only cover you if you have drug or alcohol issues. Insurance verified to them directly it would be covered. I was to receive a call which I didn t get. Called them and the woman reassured me she d call me.It s been 3 weeks now. Extremely disappointed and still struggling to get appointment somewhere.

Had a 6:00 appointment and no one was there can't get ahold of the office at anytime. Wasted my time and never received a call telling me why there was no one there for my appointment.

I agree totally with all of the unprofessional reviews here. When I first started going here a therapist didn t like my Service dog and lied and said I kept missing appointments. I was sent a letter saying I had been discharged for missing more than two appointments. SHE, was the one doing it to me. I was Furious and told them it was her. I was able to come back but Definitely not to see her. I agree with the appointments not being put in the computer it s happened a lot of times with me. Or, they say their going to check you in and forget. So, I ve sat out in the waiting area for hours. Then, of course they can t see me and I have to come back. My, therapist s had been switched four times. I loved my 2nd one and the one after her. Every time you get switched to a new one you have to start all over again. So, for four years I don t feel like I ve accomplished much of anything. But, once again I ve been discharged for missed appointments. The first two weren t put in the computer. My depression was all over the place but I did call and cancel where they said I didn t. Recently, I had a very bad tragic accident in my family and had to go back to Virginia unexpectedly. My therapist knew about the accident and I told her I quite possibly would miss some appointments. I wanted to talk some about it but she decided for me what to talk about. The minute I met her my Service Dog refused to go in her office which made me very uneasy. He behaved in a very uneasy way and sat on my feet. That s his way of keeping me calm. He Loves Everyone but wouldn t let her touch him. After, my first visit she never acknowledged him anymore. He would practically drag me out of her office. I asked to be put on the cancellation list and I was called the same day even a couple of hours before the appointment to see if I wanted to come in and of course I said yes. I only live a couple of blocks from there. I called there on a Monday to double check my appointment s for the week and the receptionist rudely told me I had been discharged. What!! I was already going through a Horrible time with what had just happened to a family member and then this!! She said they mailed me something. The receptionist had begun to get Rude and Snap at me and other people as it was. I called back and spoke with the really nice receptionist who said she thought everything would be ok and sent me to the voicemail of Christopher Moser. I explained what had happened and he NEVER even called me back! I didn t get the first letter so they sent me a new that I received this past Saturday. It said I had to call their office within two weeks of the letter to get a 30 day supply of meds until I find another doctor. I don t have a car, I m not from here and I don t know anyone. I ve been seeing Dr Pope for almost 4 years now. He knows me and is proud of what I ve overcome. I go in now every 3 months for med checks. I didn t know you didn t have to see a therapist and could just see the doctor. The experience s I ve had their with the therapist s and the coordinator I would Never recommend Diakon to anyone now. I use to tell everyone to go there and they always said they had bad experiences. Now, I know why. It s hard enough swallowing your Pride to even go there but being treated like your NOTHING is worse. As, far as the astronomical amount to fix the place up goes the place they really needed to do something about was the waiting area. It s so small your knees touch the person in front of you. You have disabled people who can t walk good trying to maneuver around everyone just to find a seat. People in wheelchairs have such a hard time it s sad. I have my Service Dog and it s difficult for me to find somewhere to sit. What, bothers me is behind the receptionist office there s a huge room 4 times bigger than the waiting area. Why isn t that used for the waiting area instead. I want to reiterate my feelings about Christopher Moser, LSW the Clinical Coordinator and him not returning my phone call. I find that Very Unprofessional and not what any Christian I know would ever do.

Good place to go for therapy. Everyone is really nice and lets you be you in therapy. Usually have a doctor but the last one retired. Still looking for new one.

1st appointment took an hour after my schedule time to call my daughter, then about 2hrs fro the session. Scheduling isn't very accurate.. had an appointment schedule & went to the appointment 15-20 min earlier, staff told me there was never a schedule app for my daughter. I had a reminder & had reminder on my phone as well. I live about 40-45 min from the office so it was an inconvenient for us to travel this far my daughter missing out on 1/2 day of school & nothing to show on computer.

The staff at front desk will blatantly lie about setting appointments. Call to confirm the next day, and the computer will be empty.. I think very unprofessional.. I reccomend finding another shrink if you want professionalism and if you want to see your dr on time.
