MCCA mcdonough was my 4th rehab and probably my last chance to get sober. It was the best place for me to come to in the state I was in and honestly Jenni, Heather, and Michelle are THE best counselors I’ve ever met and worked with out of all the rehabs I’ve been to. They believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. And they all go above and beyond to help any client with whatever they can. They are the reason I have remained so connected to the program, as well as helping me get back on my feet and in sober living and building a community and network in recovery. I have seen some positive reviews here but I’ve also seen some negative, and it’s a shame those people didn’t have the experience I did because these counselors not only saved my life but they have changed it and me for the better. I don’t know where I would be right now without their help, guidance, and assistance, and I fully plan on doing everything in my power to stay clean so I can come back one day, share my story for their groups to show that recovery is possible, the program works, and if you allow these amazingly generous women to help you that you too can have a life beyond your wildest dreams.

I can't say enough wonderful things, about this extraordinary place. Initially, being from San Diego, after reading the terrible reviews, I was so apprehensive, reluctant to go here, to the point of getting sick, thinking this place sounds awful. I couldn't have been more wrong. Shame on these people writing those terrible reviews. It's a bunch lies, on truths, fictitious statements. I went in expecting the worst. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY UPON ENTERING THE BUILDING, I KNEW HOW LONG THOSE REVIEWS WERE. IT WAS RIGHT IN MY FACE I've never experienced so many wonderful people, all in one place. You'd be lucky to get just one kind person, but in this place, the love is everywhere. I mean it. I can't say enough. No judgement, no looking down, no feelings of shame because of the way they speak to you. To the contrary, they treat you wonderfully, with kindness and compassion and with a real desire to help. God bless every single person at this facility. They truly are doing GOD'S work. Angels, here on earth, to help those in pain, we numb ourselves, with the drugs, just to get through another day. If I can do it, after my hellish life, I stand confident, anyone is capable. This place touched my heart. I go by actions and their actions at CT Counseling, tell me all I need to know. They ;I've what they're doing and truly care about other people, with a genuine desire to help others. There is no question about it.

Like ALL programs in or out patient if you WANT to stop and only need the means, guidance and support to do it than this
Is the place . If it was forced upon you or just not ready then may be the place but it may take you more than 1 attempt . In the beginning it’s about reducing amount of your intake substance as you increase amount of medication. That amount and that pace is unique to the individual and CCC recognizes that and also respects that . As long as you trend in proper direction and continue to show progress you have the support of your Counselor. Once stabilized they develop your treatment plan. When you have decreased and eliminated substances and have found a comfortable level of medication dosage that is when you now replaced your bad habit routine with a daily monitored stabilized routine that also is unique to the comfort level of individual discussing a wide range of topics with your assigned counselor: once trust is earned having clean random monthly tests you don’t have to be at the facility unless you chose to and you can begin to take home monitored medication to responsibly proceed with your outpatient program. Your counselor will encourage the timing the is best to decrease at the pace that works for you until you are done and substance free. So much better than 30 day, 90 day ,12 month 0r any predetermined length of time programs because every person is unique whether they feel confident they can do it in a year, 3 yrs, 5 , 10 or stay with this support system as a new part of life what is important is that new life is what you WANTED to achieve and join the team of success stories! In most other reviews I agree that it is about money for the center , but what business , paying their employees ,is not about making money to stay afloat? Also not all counselors are ex addicts that have felt & know exactly what & how we feel, but we can open up & let them learn about the uncontrollable disease & struggles of how our mind works!

Since there, in 2017, I had one slip up about a year after I graduated, but that was almost 8 years ago now. Some staff went above and beyond to help me and I still remember them. My individual therapist was especially wonderful. My daughter had been to an outpatient PHP prior to entering a residential placement. Upon discharge from residential she returned to the previous PHP. Following a few weeks, my daughter said "Mom, you are sending me to a day care center for adolescents with mental health issues that don't want to get better. This place is not helping me.". How can I ignore that statement? We changed programs immediately and attended the IOP at Discovery Mood and Health in Southport. This program was the perfect fit. Of course, my daughter hated it at first because they made her do the work. She attended IOP for approximately 2.5 months and finally made a change. Jacqui and Rob were amazing! Jacqui was tough but in all the right ways. She held us accountable and did not allow either one of us to make excuses. I don't think we would have made it this far without them.

Offering person focus and culturally competent car | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I went here at the end of June. There were some good things that happened and bad things. Not every nurse was nice, but they weren't cruel to me. They were very open to me being Wiccan and I felt accepted and safe. I had a couple of bad days, but all the patients were so nice. I had two roommates who were total sweeties and they helped me put things into perspective. The food was delicious and I highly recommend it, however you need to communicate exactly what you want to the kitchen staff. Most patients complained that they didn't get what they ordered, but it's easy to forget when they take your dinner order and the next day meals too. I loved to do coloring, but the nurses never seemed to have time to keep the colored pencils sharpened, nor would they allow us to sharpen them. Some of the nurses acted like you were wasting their time. With one TV and not tons of stuff to do, it felt like being back in the 90s only I couldn't go outside. The groups felt like Girl Scout camp. I would advise family members to call ahead to find out what personal items are allowed when visiting and the hospital doesn't offer conditioner for hair and they won't let you have one from home if it has the "cetearyl alcohol" in it which is stupid because the hand lotion they give you has the same ingredient!!

Dori was referred to me by a special education, child advocate. At this point, my son was in second grade.. I had asked for the school to provide an outside speech evaluation after being told by the school he had no speach or language issues. After testing my son, Dori determined that he did, in fact, have a speech and language deficiency . She then suspected he had an auditory processing issue and referred us for further testing. Without her testing and guidance, he would never have gotten the help he needed. We then used Dori a second time when we asked for another evaluation in eighth grade. Once again, after testing, he was able to get the help he needed without Dori’s help in guidance he would not be where he is today. She is always on the child’s side not the school districts!

One of the only places that saw through the games and held some accountability. It's not their job to babysit and clean up after adolescents with behavioral issues, real work was done here with future expectations set.

This place helped me so much. I am so incredibly grateful to have been able to receive the services needed in order to overcome my struggles with mental health when I was an adolescent. All the staff on the North 2 unit are really friendly and truly care about helping you. I don’t think I can say thank you enough. Out of all the psychiatric facilities in Connecticut, I can say with confidence that St. Vincent’s is the most prepared and caring one. They also accommodated a vegan diet very well, the tofu stir fry was amazing haha. I did dislike one of the nurses who was very judgmental towards my eating disorder, but overall I had a very helpful experience.
