About Connections Community Support Programs

Connections is a human service organization that helps with substance use treatment, mental health care and housing support. They’re focused on helping individuals lead healthier and more fulfilling lives. They have over 100 facilities across Delaware covering New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties. This location in Dover is one of their outpatient centers in Kent County.

The facility sits within the center of Dover about 40 miles south of Wilmington. You can reach here easily via US Route 13. The historic First State Heritage Park is not far off. It might be a good idea to check that out during your appointment. It showcases Delaware’s history well. This includes notable landmarks like Legislative Hall and the Old State House.

The clinic offers the right combination of services to set you up for holistic and lasting healing. Their outpatient therapy focuses on building recovery skills that encourage a sober lifestyle and relapse prevention. They offer opioid replacement therapy which involves both ambulatory withdrawal and maintenance therapy using methadone or Suboxone.

Ambulatory opioid withdrawal lets you detox at the convenience of your home. The meds help normalize your brain chemistry, curb cravings and reduce withdrawal symptoms. You’ll get regular check-ins to make sure everything’s going smoothly. Another FDA approved med that is often prescribed in this facility is Vivitrol.

Their mental health services encompass assessment and medication management. This can benefit folks with substance use and co-occurring mental issues like depression. DUI treatment is available as well to help court involved individuals address substance use issues related to driving under the influence. This aims to reduce the risk of reoffending and promoting safer driving habits.

You can also access primary medical care as well. They may offer HIV counseling and testing.

Their complete services are complemented by intensive case management to ensure holistic recovery. This includes employment support, access to permanent housing and temporary financial assistance. They may provide transportation assistance and childcare services as well.

This intensive case management forms a core part of their specialized services for homeless veterans or those at risk of homelessness. They ensure these vulnerable veterans access the resources and assistance they are entitled to. This may also include healthcare benefits, education and vocational training opportunities. Veterans and their families are supported in rebuilding their lives through personalized and holistic services.

place is a joke. unprofessional staff. horrible morale. Should be bulldozed or turned into a homeless shelter. they'd be doing more for the people they serve if they did.

They have horrible service and their hallway staff have minimal respect. On website they have dosing until 12 so they say but they actually only dose until 1150 and don't be a min late because your not getting your dose that day

Accepted Insurance

Connections Community Support Programs works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Out of all the clinics in Delaware, this one has the most b. S with it. There is no standard with take home bottles criteria. All different for all locations. It's all about $ and not recovering. Staff don't care, only a few certain ones do. Brandywine counseling is the best choice if you're trying to get help

If you are serious about changing your life, these are great people to have in your corner. BUT, if your not serious or have a nasty attitude you will be treated accordingly. As it should be. Val, Elena, Kesha, Tracey, Ivy, Ms. Pat (and more): so many REALLY good people that will help you fight your demons and they let you know your not alone.

I've been with them for 6 years and in my opinion they are great I love my counselor she cares about me and my recovery. I have sent her text messages well out of office hours having a mental breakdown and she was fast to respond and talk me through it even though she was not on duty at the time. You get what you put into it. Meaning if you r serious and want the help it's there. If you aren't putting the effort in it's not gonna help. No place is perfect I've had bad experiences here as well but for the most part it's been a great help for me.
