My 10 year old daughter is currently at this facility she checked in Tuesday October 8th my wife and I took her clothes on Thursday October 10th at 11:00am as of October 14th at 11:47 my daughter is still wearing the same clothes and under garmets she came to the facility in. When we we asked the staff what's going on they said she's not allowed to have the shorts with the strings so we gave them permission to cut the strings but what about her underwear and bra. They won't answer the phone and will get really snappy with you. I left a message to speak with an advocate because my daughter has not been combative or had any behaviors beside being upset and crying because she wants to go home. I hope someone sees this and can help me

I was involuntarily committed a little over two weeks ago for a depressive episode that led to suicidal thoughts and actions. I was very nervous as you could imagine. My experience here wasn t all that bad however. Coming home though I was shocked to look up the hospital and find dozens of news reports alleging the facility was amateur , unsafe , and dangerous . Extremely serious allegations were made against the hospital to the point NCDHHS considered closing it apparently. The reviews sounded horrifying, and I really was worried about what may have happened here to these people. I may have just gotten lucky with the people who were there at the time. Staff treated me with respect and while some of my fellow patients were a bit off at times most of them were friendly. I hope maybe this helps out someone who is seeking help reading this but take it from me. Coming home is hard, a lot of people struggle with something as heavy as you considering suicide. There is another way, please hang on.

Accepted Insurance

Brynn Marr Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Clients receiving treatment at an inpatient rehab facility are typically in early recovery or are at heightened risk of relapse. Clients in inpatient care remain at the facility for the duration of their program, enabling them to focus solely on their recovery. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive psychotherapy, often including group and family counseling as well as one-on-one sessions. Recovery-focused life skills education is another common service. Many rehabs also offer evidence-based holistic therapies.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs offer a complete continuum of care for clients in the maintenance phase of recovery and are predicated on the idea that addiction disease is a chronic condition prone to relapse and warranting continuing care. Clients collaborate with their care team and case manager to access the specific rehab aftercare services they need to promote their sustained sobriety. Peer coaching, relapse prevention services, career counseling, and 12 step program induction are common in these programs.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Individuals in early recovery often require 24-hour clinical care in North Carolina. This supervised care typically includes medications to treat specific withdrawal symptoms, which vary based on the substance abused. For example, staff may provide sleep aids to treat insomnia in patients who are addicted to marijuana. For those overcoming a cocaine use disorder, anti-depressants may be prescribed to manage mood swings. Other medications may also be provided to treat addiction-related health issues.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy helps you reclaim your life after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Therapists help to process these memories, which promotes emotional healing and reduces anxiety in social situations. This improves your overall well being and increases your self confidence.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

During nutrition therapy in North Carolina, you'll work with a nutritionist to develop a dietary plan. Medical professionals will provide input based on your health needs. You'll learn to create goals for nutrition and develop the skills you need to meet them.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

My daughter was here 7 days, when picking her up she was very happy with her experience. All the clinical nurses and facility called me and kept me informed. She called me daily and I was able to call her also. The phone process is secure for a reason. I am very satisfied with the mental help we received for a teen. Thanks so much.. she said she didn t mind being there she learnt a lot and wouldn t mind staying but did not want to be a resident.

Question do the parents need to call the police to the facility to get someone to answer the phone to check up on their child as advertised that the facility is 24/7 so why is not anyone answering the phones on the weekends ?

Is 0 stars possible instead? this place is SO frustrating. I tried to call THIRTY-SEVEN times and TWO of my calls were picked up, but after that they never even transferred the call to who i wanted to speak to. The other time, they transferred me to the wrong patient and i was talking to some random girl. Then i call back and the lady answering my calls gets rude with me saying i ve already called. I wouldn t have been calling again if i was connected to the right person the first time. This place sucks. terrible staff.

If you re seeking potential employment opportunities I would skip on Brynn Marr. They called me to schedule an interview four days in advance and agreed to meet via zoom call. They never sent the link and I followed up three times before the interview to which no one contacted me back. I contacted them again after the missed interview to show interest and HR last Tuesday and I just received a response that they are not hiring. It has been filled . It takes two seconds to call someone to cancel an interview if that is the case. Highly unprofessional and would not recommend.

Former foster boy was at Brynn Marr for one week. He was released last Thursday morning with absolutely no place to go. He sat in the Burger King on Western Blvd for most of the day until I picked him up at 5pm. We went to the shelter in Jacksonville and there was no place for him; BMN has no sent a referral to the shelter - so no reservation was made. I find it irresponsible to send a released patient onto the streets of Jacksonville with absolutely no place to go.

If I could rate this place a 0, I would. I was admitted involuntarily by the police on June 13th. When I arrived around 7 PM, I was experiencing insomnia. I was strip searched naked in front of a man and a woman, and even though the woman was looking for puncture marks, I didn't have any. They gave me a shot to sedate me, and I didn't know where I was or why I was being sedated. The staff lied to my dad, saying I was "beating, cussing, and kicking down doors," but that's not me at all. I was fully aware of what was happening, but I don't remember getting a shot until the next day when I woke up and saw the mark on my arm. I was going through psychosis, and as a result of the medication, I ended up urinating on myself. They started me on anxiety and depression medication without seeing a doctor first, and it gave me bad headaches and tremors, so I requested to be taken off the medication, which made my stay longer. They also kept the facility very cold, with little privacy and just a curtain for a bathroom door. When I told the provider that my blood pressure was lower than usual, she didn't seem to care and just told me to drink water and try to sleep it off. They said if I wouldn't attend group sessions, my stay would be longer, and if I didn't comply even slightly, my stay would also be extended. I was supposed to stay for a week, but they kept me for a month, seemingly to get more insurance money from me. There were fights almost daily, and no phones were allowed. Being a teenager, having my phone with me is important for me to cope, and being disconnected from the real world was really tough. Overall, my experience at Brynn Marr caused me trauma, and I never want to return. The staff was unprofessional, and while some were nice, it seemed like they were only concerned about the money. The schedule and group sessions were not consistent, and it was hard to discuss problems with a therapist or psychiatrist. Everything was done through an iPad zoom meeting. They seemed to just give out pills and sedate patients, and I believe they lied to get more money from me. These reviews are completely accurate, and I hope no one else has to go through what I experienced.

I called this facility to speak with my daughter and I just really don't understand their policy towards parents. I love all my children very much and would give or do anything for them. I am very concerned for my daughter because whenever she's away from her family she always contacts me or one of her siblings and this time she has not. I've tried to ask about her wellbeing and it's odd to me that their staff can call me to get information about her but they won't even tell me if she's ok or have her to call me. I spoke with Justin and I am not sure what his job description is but he said he couldn't give me her code which I think is ridiculous!! I also spoke with John and he was very nice to me but again same thing he couldn't give me any information. I have read the reviews on this facility and am very concerned for my daughters safety and wellbeing. I do wish they would take into consideration I have applied for legal guardianship but this process takes time. In the mean time I am very stressed and worried about my daughter and would really appreciate someone passing my number to her and have her to call her mom.

My sister has been there since for 1 week and hasn't called us . My sister always calls when she is in a mental hospital . I'm just wondering if you have her si drugged up she can't call . What the heck is going on ????? Why are you not allowing patients to call their families ? Are these reviews true? This sounds like a horrible place for someone to go too . I called and left a message to my sister with Erica . I guess my sister didn't receive it i haven't got a call yet from her . This is terrifying to say the least . We have no idea if she is eating, or has a comfortable place to sleep . What are you doing to those patients ? This is ridiculous. I would've given you a 0 on stars but 1 is the least . Someone needs to check this facility to make sure they are following state guidelines.
