My grandchild was admitted there back in NOV 2024 for suicidal thoughts and harming herself when she was admitted then I once never heard from a Dr only the nurses and the discharge nurse, then recently she has been admitted again for the same reason. The Dr she now has decided to stop all my daughter's medication and tells my daughter that she is only defiant and that she doesn't have depression, ADHD, anxiety or bipolar. I'm highly upset because I sent her there to get the help, she needs but instead the Dr is telling her she is only defiant. My daughter has called me the last 2 nights, saying she is very depressed and is having bad thoughts, she even mentioned she asked to be put back on her medication but was told she doesn't need them. I even spoke with the Dr, and she told me the same thing. I'm not happy with the outcome. I would really appreciate it if there was a number to get in touch with who is over the place.I also was made to feel like I don't know my daughter and the sign of being defiant Her behavior includes frequent irritability, arguing, resentment, breaking rules, overstepping boundaries, mean comments, and angry outbursts and even harming herself. Her defiant behavior is from what I was told is from an underlying mental health issue such as depression, anxiety, trauma, bullying, issues with peers.SO NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!I would like to have an advocate reach out to me on these concerns.

Accepted Insurance

Brynn Marr Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Clients receiving treatment at an inpatient rehab facility are typically in early recovery or are at heightened risk of relapse. Clients in inpatient care remain at the facility for the duration of their program, enabling them to focus solely on their recovery. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive psychotherapy, often including group and family counseling as well as one-on-one sessions. Recovery-focused life skills education is another common service. Many rehabs also offer evidence-based holistic therapies.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs offer a complete continuum of care for clients in the maintenance phase of recovery and are predicated on the idea that addiction disease is a chronic condition prone to relapse and warranting continuing care. Clients collaborate with their care team and case manager to access the specific rehab aftercare services they need to promote their sustained sobriety. Peer coaching, relapse prevention services, career counseling, and 12 step program induction are common in these programs.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Individuals in early recovery often require 24-hour clinical care in North Carolina. This supervised care typically includes medications to treat specific withdrawal symptoms, which vary based on the substance abused. For example, staff may provide sleep aids to treat insomnia in patients who are addicted to marijuana. For those overcoming a cocaine use disorder, anti-depressants may be prescribed to manage mood swings. Other medications may also be provided to treat addiction-related health issues.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

equine-therapy iconEquine Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy helps you reclaim your life after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Therapists help to process these memories, which promotes emotional healing and reduces anxiety in social situations. This improves your overall well being and increases your self confidence.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

During nutrition therapy in North Carolina, you'll work with a nutritionist to develop a dietary plan. Medical professionals will provide input based on your health needs. You'll learn to create goals for nutrition and develop the skills you need to meet them.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

I went to this place when i was 14, the staff are rude and dont care about the people there. They had roach problems when i was there. And they make you sit in a cold grey room with hard plastic chairs and tell you to color while they talk about random things that wont help you like how eyes are connected to the brain for 9 hours. They force u to get up at 5am even the little kidsAnd if u dont want to theyll threaten you. The constant threats everyday would make me go into fight or flight it was constant dissociating there, i never heald from this place i just learned to hide all my emotions. If you showed any emotion other than happiness they woild threaten to forcfully medicate you with needles. They give you a thin blanket that wouldnt even keep a ladybug warm and have the hospital colder than the antartic. They make u share rooms with people so if ur scared of someone there u better just pray that they arent in a room with you, because like i said they dont group people with the same problems together. They also make u rush to take a shower and the shower water is either really cold or boiling hot that it hurts to get into it. Also in the room i stayed in they had this BIG window that shows the outside and theres no curtians (obv) so if u needed to change ur clothes after showering everybody who was outside would be able to see you if they looked close enough. And there is no place in the bathrooms to put your clothes unless you want them wet with floor water or wet with toothpaste water near the sink.Everyday its loud with kids screaming and yelling because they mix depressed kids in with the kids who have behavior problems. And that was just the kids section i was blessed enough to get into, the staff told us about how in the teenager district a girl ripped off another girls skin and was bleeding like crazy in the hallway. Also not something u should be telling people who want to get better. I was forced into the hospital though. I wasnt even suicidal lol i was just venting through my drawings and they sent me here. Now i have Ptsd, if you dont want to have your kid get ptsd and become worse than they already are, choose a diffrent hospital THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO CHOOSE!!

My 10 year old daughter is currently at this facility she checked in Tuesday October 8th my wife and I took her clothes on Thursday October 10th at 11:00am as of October 14th at 11:47 my daughter is still wearing the same clothes and under garmets she came to the facility in. When we we asked the staff what's going on they said she's not allowed to have the shorts with the strings so we gave them permission to cut the strings but what about her underwear and bra. They won't answer the phone and will get really snappy with you. I left a message to speak with an advocate because my daughter has not been combative or had any behaviors beside being upset and crying because she wants to go home. I hope someone sees this and can help me

I was involuntarily committed a little over two weeks ago for a depressive episode that led to suicidal thoughts and actions. I was very nervous as you could imagine. My experience here wasn t all that bad however. Coming home though I was shocked to look up the hospital and find dozens of news reports alleging the facility was amateur , unsafe , and dangerous . Extremely serious allegations were made against the hospital to the point NCDHHS considered closing it apparently. The reviews sounded horrifying, and I really was worried about what may have happened here to these people. I may have just gotten lucky with the people who were there at the time. Staff treated me with respect and while some of my fellow patients were a bit off at times most of them were friendly. I hope maybe this helps out someone who is seeking help reading this but take it from me. Coming home is hard, a lot of people struggle with something as heavy as you considering suicide. There is another way, please hang on.

My daughter was here 7 days, when picking her up she was very happy with her experience. All the clinical nurses and facility called me and kept me informed. She called me daily and I was able to call her also. The phone process is secure for a reason. I am very satisfied with the mental help we received for a teen. Thanks so much.. she said she didn t mind being there she learnt a lot and wouldn t mind staying but did not want to be a resident.
