About BD Health Services

BD Health in Dundalk, Maryland, is a state-certified opioid treatment that provides assistance to individuals struggling with opioid addiction. The facility aims to offer a variety of high quality services including medication assisted treatment (MAT) using methadone and counseling. They want to set up clients for long-term sobriety and make the recovery as comfortable as possible.

The staff will provide clients with a safe, caring and confidential environment. Appointments are available as early as 5:15 am or earlier if needed to accommodate a client’s work schedule. Individuals can call to set up an appointment or fill out an online form.

The process will start with an intake screening assessment. Staff members will generally perform a medical assessment of the client and get information about the client’s history of substance use and what goals and needs they have.

Together with the client, an individualized treatment is set up to get the client started with recovery. For some clients, the first step in their treatment will be methadone administration. This is a daily medication that reduces a client’s cravings and any symptoms of withdrawal they’re experiencing. As the client stabilizes, they can start receiving other forms of treatment.

Individual and group counseling can guide clients in understanding their triggers and developing their coping skills. They’ll typically be treated with therapeutic approaches such as motivational interviewing (MI) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Their MI services can assist with increasing client’s motivation to change their behaviors while DBT can help patients regulate their emotions and manage their thoughts so they feel less need to use substances.

I started going here when they originally opened. In fact I started the second day they opened. I really like this place. The owners (Jason & MOSHA) really care and do whatever they can to help you better yourself and become successful. They have went above and beyond my expectations. After about 9 years I transferred to another location of theirs. At that location I received the same level of treatment. I can t recommend this place enough !!!

So I noticed that the person I take is actually getting quality counseling!I appreciate that and think they're doing a great job with them.I've had my issues with BD and it may be more personal because I don't go there but I take care of the person who I take there. So I have to wait when they have to wait, go when they have to go.but so far this summer, they're doing a great job helping this person get OFF the medication. (they've been on it for 20 some years. it's time. I do not recommend anybody to do this for a while... It takes a year to ween off)I also went to school to be a substance abuse counselor and was hit with health issues so I never was able to do the last part which was intern. So I know what should and shouldn't be happening.they are very careful with the elderly as far as take homes. I personally think it should be on a person-to-person/behavioral basis. if the person has clean UAs... they should get as many take-homes as allotted.they see different.ok, We disagree on that so they are helping this person just get OFF the medication.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Once a person has become addicted to a substance, drug rehab in Maryland is often necessary to overcome that addiction. These programs provide the tools individuals need to manage the physical, mental, and emotional issues involved and begin a successful recovery journey.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing techniques are often part of group therapy sessions. These are evidence based techniques that address thinking and behavioral patterns that trigger addictive behavior. Learning how to address these thought patterns can help create lasting change.

This place is good for people who really want to be clean. The counselors are super sweet ( Rhonda ) . Just don't really care for the Doctor there , she should worry about people eating the Benzs and not worry about people that aren't taking there prescriptions. I don't take my prescription everyday only when I'm hurting. But have benzos and you get take homes . Smh imagine that. Jess the in home care nurse, awesome. Love her, she is so nice and friendly very understanding. Thanks Jess. Please just stay away from the doctor.

Hey it's a methadone clinic, I think that they get in your personal business, (I don't think they should be involved with people's personal prescriptions) by which I mean making you bring them in so they can count them. It's not their business the doc there didn't prescribe them to me! I've been going to this place now on and off for 11 years now, and now they take Medicare insurance. Now more people can go there which is good, but in all actuality they're just another money vacuum. If you unfortunately have to pay cash, they'll toss you out quickly if you are having financial issues, and it's not inexpensive, in my opinion. Now it's a different story if you have insurance, then they will make any excuse to keep you going there for as long as possible. Even if you just don't want to quit going voluntarily the doctor will tell you that you can't detox if you're still using. Even though you're voluntarily attending. Just another corporate machine to "help you with YOUR ISSUES but if you choose to do something different with YOUR LIFE they'll give you a hard time. " So ultimately they are profiting off your addiction like the dealers, but they won't let you stop using their "drugs" sorry I mean medication! Haha!

Hey Kristian, my name is Grace. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience at the clinic. I wanted to address some of your concerns as they are all important and we take great pride in our client care at BD. We do not conduct medication counts as a clinic-wide practice. Our trained staff conduct medication counts at their discretion to ensure medications are taken properly and clients are not diverting medications. In addition, we welcome and value all self-pay/cash patients and our self-pay fee is the same as the standard Medicaid fee. Most importantly, we encourage patients to stay in the program as long as THEY need. While our world class care is standard across the clinic, our treatment plans are individually tailored by our excellent and kind staff. There is no "one-size fits all" in recovery. Again, we appreciate you taking the time to write a review. If you have any additional concerns or would like to share ways we could improve the clinic, please reach out to me personally at 667-262-9229.
