outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Shield icon Insurance

Our Policy: Banner Behavioral Health Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact us to verify your specific insurance provider.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in Arizona is the process of treating individuals who are dependent on a particular addictive drug. Because addiction is complex, this treatment typically includes a variety of interventions that address the many physical and emotional issues involved.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

animal-therapy iconAnimal Therapy

Animal therapy (aka pet therapy or animal-assisted therapy) can be very healing, as it allows patients to bond with animals, who give unconditional love. This is particularly useful for those who suffered trauma by the hands of people, who may be able to trust and form closer attachments to animals than humans at certain stages of rehabilitation.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

art-brush iconCreative Arts Therapy

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

medicare iconElectroconvulsive Therapy

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Fitness Therapy

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

dizzy iconHypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy (aka guided hypnosis) can be used as a therapeutic modality to treat substance use, especially in terms of quitting smoking cigarettes (nicotine). Clinical hypnotherapists help clients turn their attention inward, accessing unconscious or subconscious material, and then make suggestions that are healthier for the individual. The process can help clients make deep, positive, and lasting changes, including ceasing addictive habits.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

nicotine iconNicotine Replacement Therapy

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

transcranial iconTranscranial Magnetic Stimulation

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive way of stimulating the brain in order to help with symptoms of depression. TMS uses elecromagnetic coils to deliver magnetic pulses to the brain, which can improve a patient's mood and ease depression. It's often used when other depression treatments haven't worked.

The staff tends to be rude and condescending. They lack communication skills between the staff and towards the clients. They only care about your money. DO NOT go here if you are seeking for help.

This place is amazing! Compared to other detox facilities, it's like staying at a nice hotel that's actually a hospital. I have been through a lot with my alcoholism over the years. I've been to some pretty scary detox places where most of the people have ankle monitors and it feels like jail. No privacy and the food sucks. At any Banner Behavioral Health Hospital you are treated like a patient and not a drunk/addict. I don't know anyone in their right mind that would complain about having their own room, with a bathroom and shower.A patient started having a seizure in the middle of group meeting and he was immediately attended to and taken to the hospital which is right next door. You don't get that kind of top notch treatment at other places. The cafeteria serves delicious food with tons of options. You can eat as much as you want while in the cafeteria. There's one thing though, if you don't attend your regular meetings (which are easy, fun and educational) you don't get to go to the cafeteria. You just get a tray full of food, which is still good but you don't get to choose the meal.ATTEND THE MEETINGS! It's worth it in so many ways.I have so much respect and admiration for all the nurses, staff and even the security guard (top flight security of the world!)Thank you guys for helping to keep me sober!

They do not keep your information private. They have a super loud talking lady at the front. Whole lobby could hear her talking about a patient and that patients insurance. No actual provider there at night. If you value your mental health go somewhere else. Oh and if you have an dietary restrictions you won't be accommodated here.

I recently admitted myself to this facility to detox from a sever alcoholic binge. I was brought by family all the way from Northern Arizona, due to lack of quality facilities in my area. I spent 6 days at this facility and experienced some of the best medical care and support in moving forward with my addiction and next steps. Kesha, a behavioral tech on my unit, stood out and truly impacted my time there, and inspired my journey into sobriety. A true rockstar at what she does. I'll never forget the time she took just to talk to me, laugh with me, and make me feel seen and heard. I felt safe, and free to express myself and my troubles without judgement. 6 days there, truly changed my mindset and set me up for the next steps. 10/10 would recommend this facility.

My daughter was recently here and yes the nurses where nice and I think my daughter benefited being there but what I m not happy about is when my daughter was discharged I asked for her things back like some clothing and some hygiene stuff all the nurses looked at me like I was stupid and had no clue what I was talking about even my daughter mentioned to them that her stuff was in there. They lost some of her clothing and her hygiene products that I had brought up for her I m not to happy about this and they should of been more on track about my daughters personal items and they have yet to call me back about them I honestly think they stole them or are keeping them I would like my daughters items to be returned she was in the saguaro and kachina units. These nurses need to make sure that they keep track of the kids stuff and not be so careless and rude about it.

So slow. Waited over 4 hours in the waiting room, watching other people come and go that came in after us. Watched one person get checked in for over an hour. And to top it off, no water in the water jug in the middle of summer. Go anywhere else.

Editing after a more recent stay. I feel like it's still, ultimately a positive place, but one things has changed for the negative: The cafe food has gone seriously downhill. There were some days where the meals were downright disgusting, and a lot of patients were throwing full trays in the trash. It's a shame when compared to how good it used to be.Pros***They provide Spacious, private bedrooms, No gassy, snoring, or disgruntled roommates. Full bathrooms are private as well!***They allow you to close your door when you sleep. Some inpatient hospitals prop the door open, which lets in a lot of light/sound and can keep patients awake. (They do perform routine bed checks, but they're non-invasive. The technicians take care to be quiet and respectful)***Readily accessible laundry room. A seemingly small detail, but some hospitals make patients request that personnel unlock the laundry room. If they're busy, you're waiting in dirty clothes***Awesome technicians. I've stayed in hospitals where the techs ignored the patients or brushed off concerns. Not here. These techs listened and acted like our needs were priorities. For example, I needed some scrubs because I had come in with nothing more than the clothes on my back. They didn't have any in my size, which in some hospitals meant I could wait a day or more. The technician picked up the phone before I could walk away. She immediately called other units and had scrubs for me in less than an hour. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal but feeling heard and acknowledged made concentrating on my care easier.***I also appreciate that they tried to make our Christmas less depressing. While they couldn't do much, we woke to little gift bags with water mugs and other hospital-approved items. They also tried to celebrate with us. I hope they know how amazing that was! Not only did they work on the holiday, but they tried to spread cheer to us.Cons:***The food trays are insufficient. Before we are cleared for the cafeteria, we stay in the unit, and they bring trays of their choice (no options). My first breakfast was a small portion of scrambled eggs (possibly one medium or large egg) a piece of bacon, and a small bowl of fruit. They do not allow you to request more, and I was hungry until lunch.***Poor snack choices. They have a small kitchenette where you can load up on graham crackers and juice, and that s about it. They also lay out small snacks from time to time, such as packages of cookies. Diabetics are given more healthful and filling snacks, but the rest are expected to be satisfied with what they re provided. Nights are hardest, because dinner is super early, and breakfast is later in the morning.***Boredom in the unit. I found myself counting the hours until the next group or the next trip to the cafeteria. We sat around watching TV, or doing a small, too-easy puzzles. There was a book. One book. Readers were pretty much out of luck once they finished it. I think if they offered some activities that could be beneficial to our minds (watching TV and movies only goes so far) that would be great.Overall, not a perfect experience, but still the best inpatient visit I ve ever had.

fractured my 4th and 5th metacarpal here when i was 17 and they gave me a wrist splint to take care of it. it was my writing hand and if i didnt write anything down on my therapy worksheets the staff wrote down that i was refusing to participate which led to me being on lockdown most of the days there . no one reached out to my parents about my injury and over the days it increasingly swelled as i tried to use it to let the staff know i was at least trying . i feel like i only was more distracted from the real problems at the time. definitely would avoid sending your kids here. kids also purposely jump the counter to harass medical staff so they get restrained PURPOSELY, so they can get a shot that drugs you to sleep. i seen it happen several times in a row from the same kid and they just let him fall and sleep wherever he fought the medicine . he had no parents he was dcs
