About Adelante Recovery

Adelante Recovery is a comprehensive rehab for drug and alcohol addiction in Corona Del Mar, California. What exactly makes it comprehensive, you ask? They offer a full continuum of care to guide you through the stages of recovery so you can stay with the same rehab throughout your journey.

Most people here start with their medical detox to make your transition into sobriety as smooth as possible. After your body is clear of drugs and alcohol you’ll move into the residential treatment program. This usually lasts 4 to 12 weeks.

During your residential program you’ll have 24 hour access to high quality care. Your program will be customized for you but it will include individual therapy and group counseling. You’ll also enjoy holistic therapies like yoga and art therapy. There’s spiritual counseling too along with education classes to help you learn about your addiction. All of this will happen within an inclusive social community and in luxury facilities.

What happens after your residential program? If you’re ready to start transitioning into independent sober life you can move into one of the sober living homes that this rehab offers. These homes give you a structured and accountable environment but without the intensive treatment schedule of residential rehab so you can get a job and start the transition into living on your own. Or if you aren’t ready to finish thorough treatment at the end of your residential program they also have a long term treatment option.

I was especially impressed by the specialized programs this rehab offers. They have programs for certain groups who have more specific needs like a program for seniors and an LGBTQIA+ program. They even have a program for executives and one for athletes. These programs are tailored to your unique needs and life circumstances.

Feeling bad about myself, hit my bottom, hopless and lost was how I came. By the 5th day, sober mind, surrounded by love, taught me how to forgive myself, had faith in myself, self doubt was gone, hopelessness left, I learned how to fight for mine again. The 20th day I was a new person, I felt great, I was learning to live one day at a time, I learned tools to use to stay sober when I leave, I was excited about living again. If it wasn't for God sending me to Adelante, I do not know where I would be.

Levels of Care

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

When i wen to Adelante to detox i didn't know what to expect. I had fallen off the deep end with my alcoholism, and had to have a couple of large gins on the flight. But as soon as i arrived, i knew i was in a good place. Despite the tedious and endless questions and rules and regulations, everyone was very kind and thoughtful from the minute i walked in. Everyone on staff was attentive and caring, and i knew i was in the right place. I soon met the other residents, and became quite fond of our "class." I will never forget how well i was treated, and how much the team helped me on my road to recovery. Thank you one and all!Austin

Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful place to get better. Food was outstanding and healthy. Medical staff there 24 hours for detox which helped me feel safe and cared for during a difficult time. Emphasis on education and small group discussions in a safe environment was crucial to understand addiction and what I need to do to stay sober. Going out to local recovery meetings with staff was fun and got me in the habit of regularly attending meetings when I left. Awesome place to start a new life with people who really want to see me do well!

Amazing program, amazing facilities with the best view of the ocean, and the best staff. Jennifer Boutell is the best nurse you ll ever meet, she s part of the reason why I m pursuing a career in medicine at college. Bill is one of the wisest people you ll ever meet in the world of recovery. Mike is a real down to earth guy. And the owners of the place really do care about the people they hire and people they help. Hands Down Adelante is the best recovery place out there. They also have aluminum nights so you can go back and say hi, which is awesome.

I needed to get rid of my ways because they were no longer working for me. My journey began with an honest, encouraging conversation with Terry. I knew I d hit the jackpot when I heard his voice of reason. Drugs had become too big a part of my life. What began as a drug to eliminate pain ended up eliminating me being present in my own life.Adelante helped me to break my routine of taking opioids that no longer served me in a positive way. I felt as though I was physically and emotionally sinking to a dark place.Adelante helped me with meditation (thank you Kim), healthy and inspiring conversations (thank you Richard)and allowing me to safely get opioids out of my system. Adelante has been a priceless gift to many and has reminded me that a sober life can be priceless. The entire team embraced all of us who were there to heal regardless of how our journey evolved.Adelante became a light in my world. I went from stressing over whether I d have enough pills to get me through the month (and I really mean STRESS)to being taken care of gently and professionally by a fabulous team/staff. And Chef, thank you for the gourmet meals).Adelante provides the environment of allowing us to share our successes and our despair.Terry and Jeff became my champions. And believe me, I needed champions!Adelante helped guide me back to my best self. I was feeling more than a little lost. I needed to do something to make my life count. I needed to be someone who matters and opioids had taken me to a very dark place. Thank you Dr. Penunuri , Jen, Jessie, and the entire staff at Adelante. At Adelante we were given the tools to strengthen one another. We were able to share and be understood. The nursing staff was always available, day or night. A side story; one night I was uncomfortable and needed help. The nurse got the staff doctor on the phone at 2:00am and was given instructions on how to treat me. Who gives that successful kind of care in the middle of the night? I was in excellent hands.Life is not meant to be lived later so Adelante, thank you for leading me back to my healthy self so that I can live life NOW. Adelante is a beautiful home environment that accepts all who enter with respect, kindness, gentleness and reverence.I will always be grateful that I found this safe, secure environment to heal. I recommend it to anyone in need of detox or recovery from any substance.~

Adelante is phenomenal. From the owner to their techs and medical personnel. You can tell they care about enriching each level of the experience. Point blank they know what they are doing and respect the seriousness needed but approach it with compassion and practicality. I will definitely be recommending them for anyone that needs treatment and/or detox to their facility.

I haven't actually been to this treatment center... Jeff is the so amazing in different ways and can't even explain the blessing he has brought to myself and my family. He has went over and beyond for me personally and has helped me when I didn't believe in myself and was second guessing myself. Jeff has always answered my calls no matter what time of the day it was and guided me to the right direction and since that day and forward I have been sober and truly loving life and I'm so greatful for Jeff
