I currently live here and have been living here for 5 months ! I love this house! Linda is so nice but she also doesn't allow any BS! Linda puts our needs even before her own. It is very chill here & is perfect for my sobriety. We attend meetings 3 times a week, & we all have sponsors. We have a beautiful dinner together as a house every week and a house "All As" meeting that is for anyone who is struggling from any type of addiction. We also celebrate sobriety birthdays & Linda gets us a delicious cake. Here at Steps we are all a family & have each others back. We all work as a team to help each other out & do fun activities together. We all just went to universal studios Halloween horror nights as a group & had a blast! There is a nice pool here and the girls go swimming with music and BBQ. The biggest one for me is she allows animals! I love my cat & my cat loves it here. It is spacious. There are also 3 other cats & one sweet little dog here currently! We do not judge or discriminate here & everyone is loved. I have made so many life long friends here. This is a beautiful home to live in & it feels like home being here. Usually I get home sick but here I am so comfortable. We are festive here & decorate for the holidays! The quality of life & care here is amazing!I love it here! & I almost have 2 years clean & sober! :)-Brianna M

Accepted Insurance

A Step in The Right Direction works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don't require 24-hour care. Individuals who attend to PHP must attend the center for 25-30 hours per week from Monday to Friday.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober living houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. A Step in the Right Direction's sober living house offer a safe and tranquil environment where men and women can return to their life one day at a time. The home offers private or shared rooms.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

If you are experiencing addiction for being a dreamer who is disappointed and disillusioned with life, Step in the Right Direction Luxury Sober Living might be the place for you. The house is a beautiful eight-bedroom Tudor mansion, nestled among one of the best neighborhoods in Los Angeles. It is filled with top-notch decor, amenities, and appliances. There is a swimming pool in the backyard, surrounded by palm trees, and plenty of places to sit outside and lounge around. The location is near major bus routes and a commuter bus that goes directly to Downtown LA; there are many places to find full-time and part-time work. Replace getting high with high standards at Step in the Right Direction! It is wonderful!

This Womens sober living is different than the ones I ve been to or visited. I firmly believe that u can predict how ur stay will be, by the cleanliness, friendliness & the way we r treated like women of sober dignity. You get used to being treated like this- this aspect has built my self-esteem up so much. And there r 8 beautiful bedrooms that have big tvs with fire sticks, soft & cool sheets linens , So many things that we did NOT have- all we had to have was our alcohol or drugs. So living here in this beautiful house, nestled in a beautiful safe neighborhood where there s always food in fridges, clean sheets on bed, hot shower any time I want, washer & dryer, black bottom pool, pool table & juice bar.We know this is not our house, but getting to live in it, gives me hope and the people (clients, staff & owner) treat us with so much love, even holidays there, it feels safe & at peace,

I have been living in this home for just under a year and I've found my home away from home (Delaware). All the girls that live here are great and I love that we have our own meeting we do here at the house. The owner is very nice and she helps guests to feel right at home and if they have problems, she will try to find a way to fix them and make you comfortable. I def would recommend this house.

I recently had the opportunity to speak at Steps in the Right Direction Luxury Sober Living for women. What struck me the most was the sense of community among the women there. They work together to serve dinner at the house every Wednesday night for everyone who attends the meeting. It is inspiring to see how these women work together, so harmoniously. The home is very lovely with beautiful furnishings and has a welcoming feeling. The backyard living area has a black bottom pool and a setting for the women to meditate and write in their journals. I recommend step steps in the right direction without hesitation, exclamation point it is a step above other women s several living that I have toured and spent time in in the past.

Former client speaking.I stayed here for 2 months. And when I relapsed and had to go back to Detox, the house owner, Linda, left my room to be packed up by other client(s). My belongings were then put in garbage bags and put in the garage and over $15,000 of my belongings were stolen, including all my valuables and items with a high degree of sentimental value. When I reached out to Linda about this, she stated that because she was out of town when the theft took place that there was nothing she could do about it and that her hands were tied . Absolutely no responsibility was taken on her or her clients end. In case you enjoy living in home that unsafe for your belongings and emotion welfare then don t come to A Step In The Right Direction for your recovery home.

Response from the owner10 months ago
Unfortunately we never want relapse to happen. When this happened to you all your belongings were kept safely in the room you were occupying for over two weeks including your vehicle that was parked in our driveway. I spoke with you and asked you to send me your key for your car so that I can pack and lock your belongings into your car safely myself. You sent your key to the owner of the outpatient center in Thousand Oaks, which gave me no access to packing and locking your belongings myself. The only one that packed your belongings was the assistant manager. Once we received your key everything was put and locked in your vehicle until you sent a friend that you authorized us to turn over your vehicle with your belongings and ket to. We did our very best to accommodate the situation. Linda Butler

This is the BEST sober living I've ever been to. Linda makes it a home away from home. She truly brings in the spirit of being wanted and cared for. From all the beautiful holiday dinners for those of us who had no family to celebrate with to our A A. Meeting and dinner every Wednesday. All she want is to see us succeed. It's a true blessing to be here. If you are looking for a real home in the midst of your recovery that actually accepts you like family, A Step In The Right Direction is the perfect place for you. I have never felt more at home than here.

I was living at The Step in The Right Direction men s house. This is a terrible place to live at. There is no structure. Everyone keeps relapsing and the house is full of roaches. The place is dirty. The manager doesn t know anything about running the house and gets into yelling arguments with the men living there. If you don t agree with the manager named Drake, he will do everything possible to get you kicked out of the house. The owner Linda will not return your calls when you have concerns . When she does visit the house you try to express your concerns but she just ignores you . Linda is a very angry and hateful person. She also has a women s sober living home . I have talked to women that have lived there and they say its terrible to live there as well. I am so glad to be out of that living hell. The manager Drake is always angry and takes it out on the guys that live there. Its a very unhealthy place to live at. This place should be shut down.
