Amanda, it is disappointing to hear you received this type of response from anyone at our agency. This is not typical and the situation is being handled to ensure it never happens again. We are a non-profit, but we take insurance and also have other means to assist people in obtaining services. We agree that individuals going through challenging times should feel welcomed by all staff at YFA. Our sincerest apologies! (7/15/24) Amanda, I was unable to find your name on our carefully maintained incoming call logs for adult treatment services. I believe you may have called the number for our youth facility, which is another location that offers shelter to youth free of charge. The staff there may not have understood why someone was asking about insurance. We are taking steps to ensure these staff know how to reroute calls for adult services in the future. Again, our apologies for your negative experience. (7/22/24)

Went here in 2020 and had some bad memories crop up just now about this place. The very first words that were uttered to me were "welcome to the case load" and when I called for help saying I was using more they suggested I reduce the number of times I attend outpatient which makes no sense to me. I was desperate to stay clean and they didn't seem to care. The other clients were court-ordered and I didn't get the vibe they wanted to be there. I actually attended class high once and nobody noticed or cared. If you actually want to recover and want help from a kind, compassionate staff, I highly recommend Colonial Clinic. If you're court-ordered and don't want to get sober and want to do the bare minimum, then YFA is the place for you.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Effective drug rehab in Washington integrates care for the whole person, offering comprehensive solutions to addiction. Treatment methods address mental, physical, and relational aspects of substance abuse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.

Clinical Services

Often, substance use disorder originates with negative thinking patterns. Cognitive behavioral therapy in Washington is designed to help individuals change these patterns of thought, which leads to changes in behavior and freedom from addiction.

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a highly structured form of therapy that teaches skills to help participants change negative thoughts and behaviors. Applying a philosophy of acceptance and change, you'll learn and practice these skills to break unhealthy patterns and establish healthy ones.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Individual therapy sessions for drug and alcohol addiction treatment emphasize the importance of personalized care. Your therapist works with you to understand your unique life experiences and develop effective coping mechanisms to address your underlying issues. This comprehensive approach to recovery is the foundation of drug rehab.

Clinicians who apply motivational interviewing techniques engage with their clients as equal partners. This method avoids warnings and confrontation and instead allows clients to analyze their situation and explore their options. This technique is often used when the client feels unsure about their ability or desire to change.

The goal of trauma therapy is to help you heal from the aftereffects of a traumatic experience. Your therapist will provide you with a safe and supportive space to process these trauma memories and develop better coping strategies that enhance your emotional resilience.

Couples therapy can help a couple navigate their differences. By learning powerful interpersonal skills in therapy, the couple can work together to overcome challenges and change the direction of their relationship.

One goal of family therapy is to provide a platform where members have a safe place to talk about the challenges that addiction has created in their lives. Using guided sessions, therapists help individual family members develop healthy communication skills and address unresolved issues between themselves to support their loved one's sobriety.

98% of the staff work very hard to work with what you need out of therapy and treatment. Only down fall is the parking is horrible.

YFA appreciates your feedback and recognition of the hard work of staff to individualize treatment. Our apologies for the limited and tight parking situation.

My rating is based as an observer. I did not attend YFA. I was someone who regularly silently listen to group sessions they have over zoom, thank you covid. I did actually learn a lot and did take away things for myself. Sometimes I wanted to join in on the conversation of how group helped. Again I was not a patient just someone around the zoom calls. Now why this will be their second 1 star rating, I do think that you should consider attending this facility. I can't disagree with their program in any way but as an observer, I do know during group sessions the therapist will publically shame mishaps senselessly even after previously discussed in private. As a person who does not suffer with what is commonly known as the disease of addiction, I do believe public humiliation/ repremanding infront of others instead of calling the patient one on one to privately resolve issues, shows lack of respect. A recovered addict leading other addicts and behaving this way as the role model, doesn't create a safe environment. Singling out individuals but not singling out everyone's flaws is unfair treatment.Hippa violations are also practiced in these group sessions. No therapist should be publically asking clients directly, for everyone attending to learn what medications they take and what conditions they suffer with. That info should only be shared by the client on a voluntarily basis with anyone other than staff. To be fair all, the professionals will argue this information is essential to the success of the therapy therefore makes them complaint.Side note! I've heard rumors people attend group meetings (not specifically YFA) make dealer connections, these are types of therapists I would imagine are enabling the connection unknowingly because you have addicts learning who gets what pills, who has what diagnosis, what character traits are as defined in the DSM 5, who feel cravings at what level and what the drug of choice was. Plus all their vulnerable quirks. Again recovery falls on the client and these facilities are goal driven to help clients achieve the power to say no. But this one does not let you stand up for yourself. This facility does employ people who react on a retaliation mindset when you stand up for yourself. Doubt the managers are aware. Those kinds of therapists are dangerous. Considering I've been spending weeks seeking input from other recovered addicts if my oppions hold true and who they recommend I speak up to, after what I learned today, google reviews is the place. As for the counselor who know who I am referring to, thank you for creating a safe healing environment for the time being while your patient was feeling accomplished towards their recovery until you decided to throw them under the bus to save your face from your failure of explaining patient's consequence of making the choice they were making. They were always in a better mood leaving your office. Telling your client their choice was fine and then charting the reality behind their back to create what looks like you were doing your job, be proud of yourself. That action alone does not make you a dangerous person but does result in positively reinforcing negative behavior that ultimately hurts no one but your client. Kinda counter productive to what field you degree? We are humans though and make mistakes, integrity makes the character.I did hear a different therapist from YFA I felt was running the group in an ethical manner, so no doubt in my mind there are good people who work with this facility. So I guess as the observer who as never attended YFA but did get a taste of what it would be like attending, I'd say its a matter of luck. Congrats to the 5 star raters who were able to be compatible.Based on the only other 1 star rating of YFA and my limited encounters, I draw my own conclusion they are more willing to work with you if you lack your sense of self and finding any means to feel like you belong. Individuality is not encouraged by all staff. Remember it's a matter of chance like this place or anywhere else. Change my mind!

Response from the owner3 years ago
Jeanna thank you for your feedback. I must say that my first response was extreme shock and sadness that one of our clients would violate the most sacred of our rules and permit you to listen in to a confidential and private therapy group in secret. It s been very challenging to provide services for our clients during COVID and when something like this is exposed in such a public manner it calls into question our ability to trust the people that we are here to serve or them to trust that their confidentiality is being respected. YFA Connections has been working with people struggling with addiction since 1969. Our client feedback surveys score consistently in the 90th percentile when asked the question would you come back to YFA if you needed help . Our counselors and therapists are all licensed by the State of Washington to do the vital work that they do. More important, however, is their absolute respect for, and dedication to our clients. There isn t a professional clinician working here that I would not refer a family member to I have the greatest admiration for the work that they do and the professionals that they are. Working with people suffering with addiction and mental health is not for the faint of heart. It s a challenging and difficult career path but also one of the most rewarding. Best of luck to you.

Five stars is an understatement!! The staff is really what sets them apart, anyone can cover material and go through the motions but I felt an honest sense of caring and commitment from my counselors that I didn't even have for myself in the beginning. If taken seriously and given the chance, they will help you change your life!
