About Women’s Refuge

Women’s Refuge of Vero Beach is a residential treatment center for women aged 18 and up. Based in Vero Beach, Florida, the beautiful facilities offer a safe landing place for women facing substance abuse or mental health disorders. They provide Bible based teaching and counseling for individuals, groups, and families.

Women’s Refuge offers a two week program and a nine month program. The two week program is a condensed version of the extended program, which is designed for women with time constraints or those unsure about entering the long term program.

The nine month program is divided into three phases. The first phase focuses on building healthy coping mechanisms and identifying self harming beliefs you’re carrying. The second phase focuses on learning God’s word in the Bible. The final phase is all about giving back, and you’ll apply and share your knowledge as you start to walk in confidence and healing.

Something special about Women’s Refuge is their dedication to helping as many women as possible, even if it’s through a ripple effect. They run an advanced discipleship training course to train women on running their own refuge centers one day. This course lasts for 15 months and includes on the job training and guidance.

When I came to the Women's Refuge, I was at the end of my rope holding on for dear life. Through the Biblical counseling, support groups and the unconditional love demonstrated by the entire staff, I was able to receive healing from my past. I now live in freedom because I know my identity is in Christ. They saved my life. I have a hope that is found in Jesus Christ. This is a wonderful, safe place to experience healing.

A place where God modeled me a functional family, in the midst of my dysfunctional soul! The first time, I stayed there only two weeks, but still, God's will was to free me from an unforgiving heart, getting rear of the old bitterness.Six months after, I was looking forward to live there again, for the two weeks program, so I took it as a Spiritual Retreat. It really was a special place to detach and feel Gods presence. Christ grace gave me the strength to come back home, standing on my two feet, to make strong but Godly decisions. There is transformation through the word of God.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.

Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I attended the two week intensive at the Womens Refuge in Vero Beach. It was so much more than I could have asked for, absolutely life-changing! I think every woman should attend at least the two week intensive to be renewed and refreshed. Absolutely love this place and the women who work there!!I noticed a couple of negative reviews that were posted, I just cannot see anything that those people said to be true! This place was full of love, with women who are passionate about helping you to get past any issues you may have. I felt completely safe there and I felt completely loved there! Please do not listen to any of those negative reviews, they are completely untrue.

Hateful organization aimed at taking funds from vulnerable individuals in exchange for religious indoctrination. Completely immoral and harmful to young impressionable women and families.

A team of dedicated, trained, loving Christ-followers. I asked them about the negative review listed here, and they don't even know who the reviewer is, and they were never at the Refuge. That Google account may even be dubious, possibly connected with other slanderous reviews online.

I was set free from controlling thoughts and sinful behavior because of the love and care I received from the Women's Refuge. I am a living example of what God did through this program. Whether 2 weeks or 3 months or more, it was worth giving up what "freedoms" I thought I had to enter and complete this program. I am FREE!
