From the first time I talked to someone, through every interaction I had with Willowbrooke staff, I felt cared for and respected. I was able to grow and learn thanks to Jermel and Cristina. Jermel went above and beyond to be kind and helpful to me. His insightfulness really helped me understand myself better and see what I need to do to make my life better.

Do not allow your loved one to be admitted here. It is the worst facility. Visitation is limited to scheduled appointments. Currently you cannot get an appointment until next Monday. That is a bad policy. Keeping your family from visiting is not going to help someone recover. What are they hiding from the family? A 2.0 rating should say a lot about the type of care and treatment they give.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare. Willowbrooke at Tanner offers a complete range of outpatient services. Their professional staff of dedicated clinicians has a wide variety of expertise and experience working with people who need behavioral health assistance.
inpatient iconInpatient
If an assessment or screening finds severe problems, a brief stay in the hospital may be advised. Willowbrooke at Tanner’s inpatient facility offers a safe, comfortable place for healing to begin. A hospital stay helps patients change their behavior and acquire skills to cope with everyday stresses, enabling them to move to a less-intensive setting to continue treatment.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Designed for individuals who don't require round-the-clock care, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a form of outpatient care with a higher level of support. PHP treatment can be an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down option. With daily sessions lasting 6 to 8 hours, up to 5 days a week, a partial hospitalization program may offer medication management, relapse prevention techniques, and behavioral therapy interventions. PHP treatment can be fully or partially covered by insurance.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Aftercare, which is sometimes referred to as continuing care or relapse prevention, is a type of structured care meant to help you continue with the progress you've made after completing an addiction treatment program. Most of the time, you'll continue receiving support after a treatment program by partnering with their case managers and staff to identify and access the resources you need to remain sober.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.

Clinical Services

For people facing behavioral health problems like depression or life after a traumatic event, animal-assisted therapy can be a significant treatment option in helping them return to a healthy life. Animal-assisted therapy provides patients with social contact, entertainment and allows them to experience acceptance. Willowbrooke at Tanner employs animal-assisted therapy options for children, adolescents and adults in inpatient and outpatient treatment programs.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Studies have shown that horses are very social animals, often mirroring the actions of the person with whom they are interacting. Equine therapy creates a horse-human connection that is rich with opportunities and provides a focused, interactive learning activity in which the reward is often immediate for participants. Willowbrooke at Tanner operates an equine therapy program weekly during the summer to participants in various programs. Equine therapy is offered in partnership with Rachel’s Wish Foundation and the Possum Snout Horse Arena in Tallapoosa, Ga. Transportation, picnic lunches and snacks are provided.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I was very impressed with the quality of care Willowbrooke has to offer as an outpatient. The staff is very friendly and prompt. They are very good at curating the right treatment for an individual and helping to bring positive changes. I trust this facility will help me maintain my mental health and assist with challenges I face during this transition, so to speak, of shedding one s skin. I m very thankful for all of the hard work and support these providers put into caring for patients.

Response from the owner8 months ago
Thank you for that, Mya! Change is never easy, but we're honored to help you through it.

I guarantee the front office has no nursing degree and has no business with anything medication related. I do not care that ppl.have come in for one session and don't follow up on their meds for whatever reason. Quite frankly I can see why now. I had back surgery on Aug 7th and they had scheduled me for a telemed on the 9th so I needed to reschedule the only option was nov1. I said well my medicine prescription doesn't last that long can you transfer me to doctor Christopher Randolph so I can leave a message. She wouldn't do it and gave me the runaround about how ppl haven't followed up before etc etc. Well now nov1 has appeared and I used their MyChart app whom they are connectes to. I click on the video link my appointment was for 1pm. 10-15 mins passes I received an email that they were behind 1:27 rolls around and i call the number provided and get told that they dont use that video through my chart my asked her well why did I receive an email saying that my appointment was running late. Then asked if I received a phone call which I said no she didn't list off the number that isn't used and quite frankly I don't recognize I could be wrong though but I do recall changing my number not only to the app but talking to someone too but of course that's not recorded. After trying to explain it to me three times which I got the first time and asked her why would I receive an email correspondence through you guys and all sorts of links. Frustrated I said okay well what can we do and she said well I can reschedule you for another appointment and I said that's not going to work my medication refills end on this date. To which she would know make no mention of refilling my medication for the duration of the next rescheduled appointment didn't even offer to transfer me to a nurse line. I will be looking for another place that will tend to my mental health needs and not being incompetent

Response from the owner11 months ago
Josh, we want to understand your situation more clearly. Would you please call us at 770-812-3266 so we can help? We do not provide telemed services through Tanner MyChart, and Dr. Randolph is a primary care provider on our medical staff, but not part of Willowbrooke at Tanner. We want to make sure we get you what you need.

The staff at willowbrooke tanner are a powerhouse team! They will always be my favorite facility for mental health. They are very attentive, detailed, and meticulous. The psychiatrist also always makes sure that he puts you on the best medications for your health needs.

Thank you, Justine! Being candid and honest about mental health takes a lot of courage, and you've shown it. We're grateful for your review!

Dr Doddapaneni was extremely rude and inconsiderate. The facility was unprofessional and didn t send their zoom link until 30 minutes after the scheduled appointment. Dr Doddapaneni was rude about being late to the appointment although it was out of our control. He stated he didn t want to see us because we were late and at the end of the appointment he said he would refer us somewhere else because he didn t want to be liable for someone who is suicidal. Dr Doddapaneni acted extremely unethical and should have his practices reconsidered as he was refusing mental health services to someone who is actively depressed and suicidal.

I came to Willowbrooke villa rica back in November of 2022 for an evaluation during a severe depressive and mental health crisis. The evaluation process was great. Within 5 days I had an appointment with Emily Sims, NP who I saw for 2 visits until I was referred to see her attending Dr.Randolph. I ve had a psychiatrist in the past that would not listen to my concerns, change medications every month, would only spend approximately 10 minutes with me a visit and gave me a negative view on the options we have for mental health in the area.Since seeing both Emily and Dr.Randolph, I have nothing but positive things to say about the both of them. First visit, Emily spent almost an hour with me on my evaluation and finally was able to be given a diagnosis for what I had been struggling with for some time. Dr.Randolph spends extensive amount of time each visit reviewing medications. He s very cautious with adjustments and is observant of anxious behaviors and is so kind and reassuring when discussing plan of care. I would and HAVE recommended them to multiple people. As a nurse myself, mental health in the US is a taboo subject to most people therefore the care available for those who struggle are minimal. I see this daily as I work with my own patients within the hospital.I ve been treated with nothing but respect, given instructions and educated on what to do during a state of crisis, and I feel as though my mental health has finally be taken seriously. I have nothing negative to say so far with my experience with these two providers specifically and would recommend them to anyone!!

Thank you so much for your 5-star review! We will be sure to share it with our providers and staff.

I was a patient for MONTHS. Megan (carrollton location) is ridiculously rude. The person I was seeing there just wanted to keep prescribing and prescribing. NEVER once offered the genetic testing; 4 years in recovery but treated as though I am a current addict. I am a Certified Peer Specialist, I taught classes on mental health and addiction- I came open and honest. I felt like I was chasing my tail to tailor your pockets and for that I do not recommend them for a mental health facility. Patient's do not have a voice here, or there not listened to anyway.

Response from the owner1 year ago
We are sorry to learn that you need you did not receive the care you needed. A manager will reach out by phone to learn more about your experience. It is important to us that patients do feel they have a voice in their treatment.

Worst experience ever. I m 1 month postpartum and my doctor had been begging me to speak to these people because I had fears of my daughter suffocating herself in her sleep. I developed this fear after seeing my newborn turn from her back to her stomach and laying on her face. I told the intake person named Jennifer this and also let her know I had a fear of leaving my baby with other people such as babysitters or family members. I told her I did drink here and there and also said that I wasn t getting a lot of sleep. Sounds normal right? Apparently not! They sent dfacs to my house for this. Women who are dealing with ppd already feel like they aren t doing a good job at being a mother so this definitely amplified the feeling. I feel like I was targeted. I m black. Out of the things I just said I told her none of this points to my baby being in any danger from me. I have a new baby so of course I have a drink. I haven t done so in 9 months. I m a first time mom so of course I m not sleeping a lot. I don t really know what I m doing. But instead of offering medication she sent dfacs. My only thought is that she wanted to put another black child in the system. I was required to do a psych evaluation of which I was advised that they didn t feel I was a danger to my baby. I spoke to 2 directors but I m still not satisfied with this outcome. My issue is I m an overprotective mother so why would they think targeting my child would be a good idea?! They met their match. I ll be blasting my treatment to blogs, news outlets, mom groups and women who suffer from ppd as well! Since this woman wasnt an advocate for me in my time of need, I know people who will be!!
