About Westfall Associates

Westfall Associates is a treatment facility located in Rochester, New York. They provide treatment to adults who are dealing with dual diagnosis and substance abuse disorders.

Here at this facility, they provide MAT, therapy and crisis intervention. In their outpatient program, they provide family, group and individual therapy.

The therapy sessions here create an opportunity to focus on your well-being and help you create structure. You can seek assistance one on one as well as attending group therapy with other peers. This helps with self-acceptance and accountability and gives you techniques to help you manage stress, emotionally regulate and cope in healthy ways. Family therapy is beneficial to both you and your loved ones to heal and support each other during times of change. Attending therapy with your family can help you strengthen communication and gives you an opportunity to rebuild trust and intimacy.

Their crisis intervention therapy gives you extra support when addressing concerns and self-harm your loved one may be doing to themselves and the ones around them due to substance abuse.

Their MAT program is a treatment when you’re experiencing withdrawals, cravings, and triggers. They prescribe a medication to help you focus on your recovery and reduce the chance of an overdose or relapse. This will be prescribed by your provider who will assist with medication management.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients in rehab aftercare programs receive a customized portfolio of services designed to promote their sustained sobriety. These clients have completed high-level treatment, are typically exiting detox and/or intensive inpatient care and are reintegrating into their home, workplace, and community. Rehab aftercare services address addiction disease as a chronic condition requiring continuing care. Clients typically work with case managers and recovery teams to access necessary resources, such as peer coaching and 12 step program induction support.

12-step icon12-Step

Participants in 12 step programs maintain access to community-based peer support, which is the programs' primary treatment modality. 12 step recovery combines personal growth with paper coaching. Participants regularly attend group meetings, which are free, anonymous, open to the public, and available multiple times per day in most communities. They are also mentored by self-selected sponsors who guide them through the steps of recovery. Age and gender specific and other specialized formats are common.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Eating Disorder Treatment

Eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and dysfunctional eating patterns. Many psychologists and other mental health professionals consider eating disorders to be food addictions, meaning food is being used in an addictive way (similar to drug or alcohol addiction). Certain substance abuse treatment programs will have treatment for eating disorders as one of the services offered. An eating disorder may also present as a co-occuring disorder or dual diagnosis alongside drug and alcohol addiction.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

nicotine iconNicotine Replacement Therapy

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition Therapy

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

avoid. These people fail to prescribe phyc meds in a timely and professional manner. Does not take immediate action when med refills are needed for a patient. Ended up having to wait multiple days, even weeks until my medication was refilled. On multiple occasions... The Psychiatrist struggles to understand basic things about dealing with mental and medical disorders. If you have a kid who takes medication, send them anywhere else. Please do research and consider other places.

The people there are nice enough, but the billing is unbelievable. I am getting bills from 3 years ago still - when they send me a bill, I call, ask if it's the last bill I'm receiving, and pay it.They've confirmed now twice that it's the last bill I'm getting, but more bills come a month later. It's a never-ending cycle it seems.

I have no words to describe how this place is being run. Month ago got phone call I have outstanding bill again 3 years later. Ok I took care 3 bills over 6 month, no problem. Last conversation i had with woman i asked "do i have any more outstanding bills? Woman replied NO".One moth later after last conversation.I am getting another bill with 3 time bigger bill then usually.I am not only disgusted with service i have received 3 years ago. Now I am getting bullied with these NEW bills that every other month . No one have told about outstanding bills in mail. No correspondence what's so ever for 3 years. Now out of the blue I keep receiving these bills. And facility expecting me to pay for it. No way. I reporting this facility to BBB.I thought this place provides therapy when people needs it, not bullies with bills 3 years later...

I m sad to write this review but it must be shared with the rochester community. If you are in need of help, I do not recommend Westfall Associates. I received outpatient care from WA between 2019-2022. For most of my time there I had nothing but wonderful things to say about the staff, but in the last year of my time there, things really began to shift. Wonderful counselors left and were replaced with lackluster counselors (very inexperienced unprofessional imo). It put a bad taste in my mouth seeing such wonderful people leave an establishment one after another. My biggest gripe is the billing. I ve made various payments over the last several months after I thought I d paid everything in person on my last appt back in May. I ve received various voicemails and sketchy emails stating I owe large amounts of money with no invoices or statements to support these claims. I made one final payment of $30 in December which put my card on file. I ve continued to be charged two more times without my knowledge since then. Each time I ve spoken to them over the last several months they say I m all set that s all I owe and yet keep coming up with charges of various amounts ranging from $30-$4000. I m highly disappointed and angry. I spoke with them today and if I receive another payment without my knowledge I will be getting a new card from my bank. I feel like this place is run by amateurs sadly. Do not recommend.

Terrible, joke of a place. If you plan to use these folks make sure to keep all receipts for they will try to bill you for something 2+ years later and say it was your fault for failure of payment. I've asked multiple times how this went unnoticed for this long and all they have as an answer is their billing policy form.

Does not call, email or snail-mail when you have a bill; instead they just send you to collections for fun.
