About West Texas Counseling and Rehabilitation (WTCR Temple)

West Texas Counseling and Rehabilitation’s Temple facility is more commonly known as WTCR Temple. They’re an outpatient clinic specializing in opioid use disorder treatment in Temple, Texas. Adults can benefit from a judgment free zone to find healing from addiction. You’ll have access to a blend of medication assisted treatment and counseling to reach your recovery goals.

One standout feature I noticed is they strive to make treatment accessible. You’ll benefit from free initial screening and admission. They also accept Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurance plans. Even if you’re uninsured, they’ll provide opportunities for financial assistance and won’t refuse services due to an inability to pay.

With medication assisted treatment, you’ll receive buprenorphine or methadone to manage cravings and withdrawal symptoms. They combine this approach with counseling to help you learn about how your behaviors contribute to addiction and gain the skills to change them.

Previous clients weren’t too satisfied with their services. The most common issues were restrictions with prescription access, such as an inability to take medications home and having to travel to the clinic daily for doses. Some clients still applauded their nurses for their empathetic care.

Recovery is a unique, personal journey. Always, consider multiple treatment centers before making your choice.

This place is horrible. Avoid if possible. No onsite doctor. No onsite counselor. They make it so difficult to increase your daily dose. They only take money orders, No cash, credit card or debit cards. They also make you pay for the entire week at a time. You can t pay for just one day if that s all you re able to do.

Suboxone would be a much better option. These type of methadone clinics are very hard to get there, get doses and to work on time. Everyday you go. Suboxone is prescribed by regular doctors, and you don t have to but show up every day. I give the nurses there a 5 star. The programs for methadone make you jump through hoops to not be punished . I produced false positives on drug screens and you get no help unless you pay for a more expensive test to confirm the positive result. These government ran programs just make it really hard to deal with life and every time you show up it just put you in a bad mood to be talked down to buy the doctors and the head nurse over all of the different West Texas clinics. Again, the nurses at this clinic or top-notch, and have always treated me right. But there s so many crazy government regulations Which is completely illogical if you re actually trying to help the person. So if you re thinking about going to a methadone clinic, please think about going on a Suboxone before.

This clinic is extremely restrictive with your ability to earn take homes. The Dr refused to follow the recommendation of SAMHSA of increasing exception doses during pandemic and instead required every patient to come daily to clinic. Several patients including myself have years of meeting requirements of 8 point criteria and consistent clean UAs, yet are still required to travel to clinic daily. Dr Garcia refuses to follow the recommendation to allow patients to earn weekly take home. If you choose this clinic do not expect to be allowed to travel for Years. You d be better off traveling to Austin where you ll be on weeklys/bi weekly within a year.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.

Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Response from the owner2 years ago
This is a socialist clinic we are noting but addicts to them all. They charge you if you go into the hospital, but lots of people get it free from the taxpayers. I been there going on 7 yrs messed up a few times because my dose was dropped. I came here from SC. With a too weeks suppy. The most I've gotten is 4 days after they found out about me having 2 weeks. They first said I had Tested positive for methamphetamine which I don't do. They had the wrong file. Tell them nothing about problems you have. They have stolen from me. It's sad.
