About West Coast Behavioral Healthcare

West Coast Behavioral Healthcare in St Petersburg, Florida, provides various court ordered and voluntary outpatient counseling services for adults and adolescents struggling with substance use disorders and mental health conditions. They aim to support, strengthen, and improve the lives of those deeply affected by societal challenges through comprehensive counseling and educational programs. One thing you’ll appreciate about this agency is their extremely flexible hours coupled with sliding fee schedules. This lets you access the care you need without worrying about time constraints or financial barriers. Their extensive offerings include evaluations and classes for substance abuse and mental health, anger management, life skills and more.

Substance abuse evaluation assesses whether your alcohol and drug use is a problem, while mental health evaluation identifies the cognitive and situational factors impacting your ability to manage life situations. At the same time, anger management and life skills evaluations help you recognize triggers, develop coping strategies, and pinpoint areas for further training to navigate adult life effectively. Their substance abuse and mental health education classes equip you with the knowledge to understand your unique conditions, make informed decisions, and maintain long term recovery. They also provide individual, couple, and family counseling. These counseling sessions help you address personal issues, build a supportive network, and develop effective strategies for overcoming challenges.

The facility also provides other services that may be directly or indirectly connected to substance abuse and mental health issues. These include case management, male and female domestic violence evaluation and educational programs, cognitive thinking assessments, shoplifting and theft prevention classes, co parenting and divorce educational programs and more. These programs are overseen by well credentialed and experienced professionals, including counselors and mental health clinicians. Through their extensive range of services, West Coast Behavioral Healthcare fosters a supportive and safe environment that promotes recovery and positive living for individuals dealing with mental illness and substance abuse, all within a compassionate and non judgmental framework.

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

If I could give no stars I would . This was the most unprofessional place . The person that did the testing did not even date the paperwork . Instead of helping getting my license back they did everything in there power to make sure that did not happen . I would recommend going elsewhere if you need help with out of state issues .
