About Volunteer Behavioral Health – Cumberland Mental Health Services

Volunteer Behavioral Health has a private rehab in Lebanon, Tennessee, that specializes in providing relief for drug addictions. They offer outpatient assistance to children, adults, and families. There’s a special track as well, called Choices Women’s Program.

Their outpatient program at this addiction treatment center offers individual, group, couples, and family counseling to help address substance abuse and co-occurring mental health conditions. Your length of stay is based on your needs. Other services offered include evaluation and case management services, telehealth, school-based therapy, forensic services, and peer support. They’ll also manage your meds so that you get the right dosage and don’t become too dependent on your prescriptions.

Women who want gender-specific treatment can enroll in the Choices Women’s Program. This drug and alcohol addiction treatment program teaches you various relapse skills to help them with long-term recovery. This program is pretty intensive, so if you do sign up, you should expect individual and group counseling. Sessions are held thrice weekly, and aftercare services are provided after completing the program.

They accept most major insurers. However, it’s best to speak with the rehab center and your insurer before enrolling in the outpatient programs on offer to ensure coverage or determine out-of-network benefits.

It's been a few yrs since I had to take my son here for mental eval. Can't remember the woman name that did it but ill never forget her cause I see red when I think of her & how she operated. I had been trying desperately on my own to get my son help way before we were court ordered to come here. The lady was an older lady long grey/blondish hair. She immediatly diagnosed my son with oppositional defiance & said there was nothing wrong with him!! So u know wht? Thats as far as it wentw/the help!! I guess they look at that as a child being disobedient! Ivwas fuming..Afterwards We had to sit thru a hearing on another case where they had the victim tesstify on witness stand. This victim was scared of her bf & u could tell..the lady stood up there on the stand & made the victim abuser seem like a Saint & he just needed help!! I guess the abuser ppl had some kind of pull because I'm sitting here hearing both sides & the so called professional gaslighting the victim. I wanted to object so bad but I prob would of got kicked out but I couldn't believe my eyes. So I'm livid over my son case & the other case tgat this woman spoke on..so imagine how many cases she isn't honest about. I'll never recommend her! Wish I knew her name but it should be on paperwork!

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

12-step icon12-Step

Participants receive intensive peer support in 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, open to the public, and available day and night in most communities. Self-selected sponsors guide sponsees through the recovery journey, cultivating self-awareness, forgiveness, acceptance, and accountability. Though these programs are rooted in spiritual principles, participants aren't required to be religiously affiliated.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Addiction Recovery Program provides recovery-oriented support for individuals with addiction or co-occurring disorders. Services include individual and group formats for relapse prevention and recovery skills development.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Counseling in Tennessee that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach can last from six to 12 months. During that time, you'll develop skills in the areas of distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

What I liked the most about Cumberland was that they didn't only help our daughter but also our whole family, we had horrible experiences that without Cumberland I don't know if we would have been able to get over them.

I ve been going here for more than five years now and it s been wonderful. I ve only had few issues that were resolved quickly. My case manager and therapist listen to my needs and go above and beyond to make sure that i have the resources i need.

Literally only one helpful and kind staff member. If you do telehealth they will never actually call you on the scheduled time, but call multiple times per day on non-scheduled times and dates. Even if you schedule a telehealth appointment with a therapist there they will not call you and then tell you that you missed the appointment. This place is only good for filling prescriptions.

I had an appointment on 2/22, and when I called they said they don t have an appointment for me(it took over a month to get that appt). They keep trying to push medications on me!! They said we can set you up with a medication specialist?! I don t want any medications, I just want to talk with someone.

This place gives mental health professionals a bad name. People that need these services already feel crazy and all they do is confirm it. Nasty attitudes. Terrible bedside manner. They make you feel like your condition is nothing. 10/10 do not recommend.

I called to get information about the RIP program for my son. I did not say a specific name on who I talked to at all, but whomever the girl is that answered the phone had the MOST unprofessional customer service skills ever. Absolutely uncalled for at 9am I had to hang up the phone because not even a full minute I did not want to continue even talking to her. I was just calling to see if they had any later same day appointments. She just kept saying Wellllll ma am idk who you talked to I didn't say a name I was told just call back every day to get a time I would be able to make for the same day appointment. I don t even want to continue to call if they have employees like that.
