About Visions of the Cross

Visions of the Cross is a drug and alcohol addiction recovery center in Redding, California. They use a social model to provide multiple levels of care through various treatment methods. They utilize residential facilities with modern amenities. Visions of the Cross takes a whole person approach to treatment and therapy that uncovers the source of addictive behaviors. They seek to empower each client to find their purpose, so they have a personal foundation that supports addiction free living.

Inpatient care provides clients with a safe and stable place to live and receive 24 hour care while undergoing addiction treatment. It’s the preferred option for those with strong addiction symptoms or who come from unstable living situations. Clients receive a room and have their needs taken care of during their stay, with the length of the stay itself tailored to their unique needs.

Treatment at Vision of the Cross results from a collaboration between clients and their care team. Together, they build a treatment plan that best accommodates and meets their needs. Treatments can include individual counseling, life skills training, education opportunities, medication monitoring, case management, assessments, and eventual discharge planning.

This day program offers the same types of care as the inpatient program but doesn’t require clients to live at the facility. Clients meet at the facility regularly to receive treatment and engage in groups focused on continuing and supporting the recovery process. Outpatient is ideal for clients whose symptoms don’t require monitoring, who do not need to enter detox, and/or who come from stable living situations.

The schedule for outpatient care is flexible, with meetings happening during the day and evening. Both inpatient and outpatient programs have a family component that invites family members to learn more about addiction and recovery through classes and therapy.

Visions of the Cross operates a number of transitional care houses for those who have completed a treatment program but do not have a stable place to return to. Clients living in a transitional house have access to case managers and other support team members to ensure they are on track to reaching their goals.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare. Utilizing evidence-based curriculum, outpatient groups are offered throughout the week during the day and evening.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) support a client's sustained sobriety as they exit detox or step down from an inpatient program. IOPs are also designed for clients who are at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in a minimum of nine hours of therapy per week, but clients may receive up to 20 therapeutic hours weekly. IOP treatment modalities often combine psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs offer clients in addiction recovery a robust continuum of care after clients have completed active treatment. These services address recovery as a life-long process and are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs. Clients may partner with their case managers and/or addiction recovery team to identify the rehab aftercare services that are right for them. They may receive career counseling, housing assistance, peer coaching, 12 step program induction, among many other services.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an intensive form of outpatient treatment where clients meet during the day and return home in the evening. PHP treatment doesn't require 24-hour care and often serves as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down after a residential program. With PHP treatment, you can receive daily support for 6 to 8 hours which includes evidence-based therapies and medication management. The cost of PHP treatment typically varies but averages 90 days.

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Through guided sessions, therapists can help families develop healthy communication skills and address unresolved issues. By working together toward a common goal, they help to support their loved one's sobriety.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

The use of experiential therapy can be helpful for the treatment of behavioral disorders, including drug and alcohol addiction. My lady went to this program as an inpatient, graduated being the ONLY person to complete all 4 phase books in two months. A little after a month of being there I couldn't get ahold of her, she was 6 months pregnant and I got worried so I walked over and knocked on her door around 6pm. The ladies in her house freaked out, screaming at me that I can't knock on there door, followed by the lady in the office, threatening to calling the cops if I ever step foot on there campus again. There was no signs stating anything like, private property, men not allowed, don't knock on the doors, nothing. There isn't even a sign on the office, letting you know where the office is. Upon trying to get a criteria or information about the program, rules, regulations, right, responsibly, hours. I was turned down which I don't understand how or why. This place is ok, but very sketchy in someway. It's ok, it could be and should be better though. Hard to believe this is court approved with the level of Professionalism they carry.

I am forever grateful to VOTC for helping to save my life. Almost two years ago God brought me to visions. I was so broken but found hope and healing. Steve, Tammy, and the staff went above and beyond for me and everyone. I ended up choosing a long term program after and continued digging trenches of truth. I had 18 months in July and my life is completely transformed from the inside out. I love you fam. and thank God for you.

I went there in 2017 when I was released and sent from Empire. It was an awesome journey that provided all I needed to continue my recovery and rehabilitaion. Fast forward to now. I returned home in Socal got my own place, got full custody, got a full time job, continuing my sobriety and discharged my number! I make it it my goal daily to always look forward and continue to strive. I will never forget my counselor there he was so awesome shout to Richard! . I looked up to him and his experience and saw that there is hope to be a better version of ourselves . I thank Visions of the Cross for what they do there. Blessings to you all.
