I am 50 years old. I used to be in this group home back in my teens. I stayed here from 15 to 18. I promise you back then life was different and if it wasn't for the staff there I wouldn't be here now. When I was there we had Ms. Kilgore, Ms. Mitchell and Ms. Westbrook was in Tucker cottage where I was. Rogers, Marshall and Darden cottages were there then. I still use "easily mislead" or "my inconsideration to others and self" I always have to remind myself of my "easily angered" I use these words today. There is a flowerbed at the very edge of the main house yard. I started that flowerbed. If the flowerbed is still there I can honestly say that was my flowerbed. Mr. Kocab and Mr. Tate let me do the flowerbed to keep my mind from wandering and getting myself in more trouble. I am not sure what life is like there nowadays but when I was there it was okay. Nobody wants to be away from their families and it is hard to be there when you look at it that way. Yes, I still got in trouble when I got home for a bit. But I was able to understand what was getting me in those situations. I just wanted to share my story about Jackson-Field Group Home. And a lot of us that were together are still friends to this day. It was a helpful back then.

Great Group Therapy by Sam, Kwazi, and CarrieThey have a mixture of GREAT staff also, like 007 (yes really), Mr. Justus, Ms. Sonia, Ms. Angela, Ms. Brandy, and others too that provide Respect and Treatment of needs during any stay. The Food Prep Team is AMAZING and they do provide an excellent diet tending meal. The furniture could be updated or 'softened' with some throw pillows perhaps to give a little bit more comfort to the patients. After 2 weeks in 1 N I was A) restored in my soul, Faith, and mental health and B) my body rear and back suffered a few days post-visit from the very limited ergonomic comfort I experienced (a good suggestion for improvement). I'm still recovering just a bit but mending well. Gym activity time and outdoor time was very precious and would advise some enhancement for best time value in their care. Poplar Springs is a GOOD place to get adjusted and ready for your Outpatient journey if applicable. With a few simple adjustments, it could be a GREAT Place to get your behavioral health off to a positive start. Recommend this place along with the recommended updates. The McShin Foundation is full of support and resources for those in recovery. They offer an intensive and a sober living program, which the houses themselves are well maintained and comfortable. The program is entirely ran by individuals in recovery, many of whom have been through the same programs themselves. The facility hosts many meetings and groups on a day to day basis. To aid participants and outside recovering individuals with broadening their understanding of recovery and further supporting the community, various trainings, including the Recovery Coach and PRS (Peer Recovery Specialist) are facilitated here. Practically everyone here greets each other and have nothing but love for their community. For both the current participants and alumni, many opportunities and events are hosted by McShin to keep everyone connected and assist in building a network. Their work goes outside of the programs. They visit jails to spread hope. Provide outreach. Offer grants to those in need. Have a podcast, which is available to listen to on YouTube and hundreds of correctional facilities. To help educate families, they offer a family group. Families are also welcome to come to community meetings and events to support their loved one(s). It is a very family friendly place in general.
