The Doctor was fantastic. However, the orderly in XRAy poked my shoulder where I had a torn ACL several times because I told him I had to go to the bathroom and he told me they were doing something right then. They put contrast in the wrong arm that lymph nodes have been taken out of. I was harassed by the nurse who didn't mention to anyone that I had another IV and she had covered up that arm, about medication I do NOT take that was erroneously in my chart. The Epic System has been hacked obviously. The nurse left me when I could not carry things or walk well on my own. There is wrong information in my chart they refused to take out, they said the Primary Care would need to do that....that information is NOT in my Primary Care Physician's records. I am being treated rudely when I ask for it to be corrected!! There was an error, fix it. And yes I did tell them my current meds (only 2) the other 9 were not taken off. No one has patient responsibility at this hospital, not even for going to the bathroom and the orderly for poking my painful shoulder to let me know everyone was busy committed abuse! A new Hospital Administrator that puts patients and their care as top priority (as the Dr. did) would give a welcome improvement to this poorly monitored hospital. Add a patient advocate that can actually solve problems and Washington may have a better running hospital instead of one I'm afraid to take my loved ones to.

I am in a state of shock at how bad the care was that I received at this hospital. I was transported there by ambulance after a serious car crash. They saw me quickly for triage, the doctor ordered 4 xrays and approved two Tylenol. A nurse dressed my open abrasions which were bleeding with dry gauze. The quickly put me in the ER waiting room. There were lots of people waiting there before me. I'll come back to that.I waited and waited and waited and never got called in for radiology. My niece had arrived by then and she asked them to find out why I hadn't had my xrays done yet.A few minutes later a nurse comes out and gets me, and, my niece rises from her chair to go with me, as I wanted her to do. The nurse quickly and rudely told her, "YOU'RE not going back. I just need her." So she takes me back into the exam room and tells me:1. There were no xrays ordered for me.2. The doctor who saw me was very thorough, and he must have thought I didn't need xrays.I told her I absolutely heard him order the xrays. I still don't think she believed me, and I said, "I'm going home." She told me not to leave. She then tried to find someone to see me and eventually parked me at the nurse's station alone, with the promise that someone would see me. I was so frustrated I eventually went home.As I left, after being there four hours, the same people in the waiting room when I was parked there in my wheelchair? They were still there waiting to be seen. I asked my niece to drive me home. When I got home the sorry excuse for bandaging and first aid had dried to my wounds and I had to peel it off myself. That HURT. There was no excuse for that.It took them over an hour to realize I had walked out I guess. Over an hour after I left an officer called me and left a voice mail asking if I was alright. I tried to call him back twice and no one answered. I found out later they called my son that same night. As soon as he told them I was alright they stopped trying to contact me.Also, while I was there, I heard the receptionist absolutely snap and yell at visitors. Her tone was unacceptable and had she used it with me I'd be reporting her full name in this review. There is no excuse for that when people are sick and hurting.I moved to this area 2.5 years ago, and I love it here in the Washington/Chocowinity area, but I am absolutely disappointed in the care and service this hospital provides. I filled out a patient "satisfaction" survey and shared my feelings with them, maybe they will reach out to me, but I doubt it.

Accepted Insurance

ECU Health Beaufort Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Went in with an obvious broken ankle / foot. Sat for 4 hours with what looked like a baseball under my skin on top of my foot. The incompetent doctor there told me she couldn t see the break on X Ray but to use Tylenol and follow up with Orthopedics if swelling didn t go down IN TEN DAYS. I asked for 10 days worth of pain meds and was told absolutely not but that I could have one while I was in the ER if I wanted. I turned them down and had to walk (limp, hop) to my car outside and up the embankment. After 10 days of hobbling around, I went to Orthopedics and lo and behold, they looked at the same Xray and saw the bones in my foot broken, (broken, not cracked). I was finally provided with the care I needed but it sure didn t come from this substandard excuse for an ER. Not even a year later, I went to that same ER for stitches after a dog bite. Open wound, flesh hanging stitches were needed. I sat in the empty waiting room for 4 hours and eventually got up and left. I went home and used Super glue and butterfly bandages to treat my injury. For the love of whoever you pray to, DO NOT come to this joke of an emergency room. Why the state hasn t shut them down is beyond rational thought. They are absolutely awful, both in their bedside manner, levels of professionalism and compassion, absolutely unnecessary wait times when the waiting room is empty, RNs and staff standing around socializing and laughing while people wait to be seen, etc. Drive to Wake Med, Duke or if you re about to die, go to Greenville. (And they aren t much better, but nowhere near as bad as Washington).

Was a wonderful experience. If I had to make a complaint it's that Everytime you get a new nurse or are moved to a different room you expect the same things from the new nurse and that doesn't always happen. I just wish they were all on the same page and following the same rules. I guess since they're humans what one nurse takes seriously another may not or can't because of their previous training, skills, life experience, level of fatigue, education etc. It almost made me prefer a robot. That way all the robots can give you the same treatment. Lol. It'll happen one day.

I ve been here twice since May. Always received the best of care. Yes there is a wait but when I went to Greenville ECU health in May they told me I could have a 14 hour wait in the lobby of course I left and yes it took about 4-6 hours but it was worth the wait. I went last Friday nite the care was excellent 6 hours but good care it included a ct scan + blood work. I had a kidney stone so painful but they did everything to make me comfortable, the lady that drew my blood her name was Teresa was so attentive even when I had to wait in the lobby she brought warm blankets and was so lovely The nurses were okay (meh) but Theresa went above & beyond to make sure me & my husband felt cared for. Definitely need more staff like her.

Nothing but horror stories from this place. People are nice, but either incompetent or just don t listen! My mom was placed into their care for pneumonia while having copd. They kept TELLING her she was diabetic all based off of a medicine she took, forced insulin on her and then made her sugar crash in the middle of the night. On a different night, they kicked me and my sister out of her room early, hooked her up to a cpap machine AND DIDNT TURN ON HER OXYGEN FOR THE MACHINE. She was unable to breathe AT ALL in the middle of the night and only remembers them coming in panicking trying to fix it. they literally tried killing her only reason she found out was through the respiratory therapist no one else had the nerve to be honest about what happened.Had a friend get into a brutal car wreck and they sent him here to patch his arm up they sent him home day of and said if you start bleeding come back immediately come to find out he had a severed ARTERY and THEY SENT HIM HOME when they should ve transferred him.Had an uncle go in and was in a coma for weeks they NEVER PUT COMPRESSION SOCKS ON HIM and he nearly died from a blood clot.LORD HAVE MERCY, Greenville may be a longer wait BUT JUST GO THERE INSTEAD!!
