About Branson VA Clinic

Veterans struggling with substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions can access outpatient, dual-diagnosis treatment at this branch of VA Fayetteville Arkansas Health Care. Located in Branson, Ohio, the Branson clinic provides consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a range of behavioral health concerns, including addiction disorders. Clients may be referred to residential rehabilitation programs if they require more intensive and structured treatment.

Clients unable to travel can still access quality mental health treatment through remote video conferencing, home telehealth, and store-and-forward telehealth services. Confidentiality is not a problem thanks to a secure platform so clients can securely send and receive health information from wherever they are.

Social work plays a key role in the recovery process at every VA clinic. Social workers are on hand to help veterans and their families with any concerns that can impact recovery, such as treatment questions, housing issues, and insurance.

Speaking of insurance, VA health care benefits can be used with Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance plans. A lack of insurance is not a barrier to treatment. VA financial hardship assistance is available for veterans who are unable to pay for mental health treatment.

Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs offer continuing care for clients in the maintenance phase of recovery and are designed to evolve over time. Outpatient treatment is generally categorized as drug rehab aftercare, but many clients continue to receive services after being discharged from formal care. These services are customized to clients' unique recovery goals, but typically include medical, mental health, and social services. Clients' case manager and recovery team play a key role in developing the client's care plan.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

A sober living home in Missouri is designed to foster character development, accountability, camaraderie, and mutual peer encouragement. In this communal-living setting, individuals in recovery share household responsibilities and participate in 12-step programs together. Residents can remain in the home as long as they want, as long as they follow the house rules. An average stay in men's or women's sober living lasts between five and eight months.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

A drug intervention in Missouri is a planned meeting between a person struggling with addiction and their close friends and family members. The goal of the intervention is to motivate the individual to seek treatment. To be successful, an intervention requires careful planning which may involve intervention services from an intervention specialist. Theyl can be certified by the Association of Intervention Specialists, or they may have other expertise that qualifies them for this role.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Medical detox is the process of ridding the body of addictive substances under the supervision of licensed medical professionals. An expert medical team, which may include physicians, nurses, clinical staff, and therapists, will monitor your vitals, help maximize your comfort and safety, and provide medication if necessary to help mitigate the symptoms of withdrawal. The length of the process varies depending on your needs.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in Missouri usually involves several phases: detox, rehab, and aftercare. The rehab phase may include a combination of inpatient and outpatient treatments, as the individual moves through a continuum of care on their recovery journey.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

So the only reason this VA hospital in Branson MO is getting 2 stars is for Thomas who answers the phones he was very helpful and polite. But other than that this place will apparently let their VETERAN patients go without the life saving heart medications after just being discharged from a mild heart attack amongst other life threatening complications not even 2 weeks prior. Instead of giving the local pharmacy we use the proper authorization/confirmation that yes the VA will gladly pay for WHATEVER MEDICATION our patients need so we can pick up the medication or even fill it at there pharmacy at the Branson clinic location and we will pick it up there. But instead they won't allow us either of those very logical and reasonable options they will only mail it per USPS and should arrive maybe Monday or Tuesday SHAME ON YOU VA BRANSON MO your true colors show just how good your treat your patient's

I have been going to the Branson VA Clinic since it opened. I have had nothing but excellent care over these past.several years. I used to drive all the way to Fayetteville, and I was happy to see the Branson clinic open! I utilize the excellent care not only with Doctor Murphy at Team 1, but also Doctor Setter in Optometry, and Doctor Zander in Audiology.

Staff is nice, accommodating. Love my team RN. He s excellent & the only constant since I began using the facility 6 years ago.The clinic itself is well-furnished, clean, & in good repair. There s the occasional computer system blip - but that s not the clinic s fault, to be sure. I ve seen the parking lot full(ish) a few times over the years - though generally there are plenty of parking spaces. No stairs inside the clinic to navigate. Wide halls & doors. Plenty of accessible, clean restrooms. The lab is efficient. It s also fairly easy to speak with the on-site pharmacist should you have any questions. As for the not-so-good? It pains me (no pun intended) to say this b/c of all the problem a medical facility could have - this one is serious; the physicians. First, rapid turnover. I think I ve been through 3 - maybe 4 team docs in 6 years. It s difficult to trust a new doctor. My team didn t notice how anemic I was a couple of years ago until it was critical. I complained about total enervation, headaches, breathlessness, & eventually even chest pain. They d hook me up to an EKG and nothing would come of it. Then they were suddenly trying to contact me through every avenue; cell, snail mail, secure messaging, etc. Oops, our bad. Guess what? Your iron level is at THREE. Your Vitamin D & B levels stink, too. So off to a Community Care hematology clinic ASAP for a transfusion, monitoring, and 2 meds I take to this day. Recently, a growth on the back of my leg. Sore, very odd-looking. Sent pics to my team. They think it s an abscess. Warm compresses, the usual. Come see us if it doesn t resolve. I ve had puh-lenty of abscesses over the years. This was NOT an abscess. So I went to an urgent care clinic at a local civilian hospital. Pyogenic granuloma. It needs to be removed & biopsied. Fine. Back to the V.A. Met the NEW (again) team doc. Disinterested, bored, just phoned it in. She did, however, send a request to Community Care (whew!) Dermatology out in town. Lump removed. Pathology results a few days ago? Squamous Cell Carcinoma, a type of skin cancer. Next up; Mohs surgery. Now I want to know why I ve had an elevated RBC for YEARS. Why? B/c it s abnormal. The V.A. has apparently never noticed the pattern or simply didn t care. A compromised immune system can complicate my Squamous Cell journey and it would be good to know if there s an issue with my bone marrow! Message my team, can I check back into Hematology and have this looked at, please? Well . . . the team doc will call you, okay? No, NOT okay. In context, it s highly reasonable request. I m already irritated b/c if I d followed V.A. advice that cancerous mass would still be on my leg, growing. Message to my team: I don t want to talk to the doctor. Forget it. Never mind. Message from team RN relaying two questions from the doc herself: 1. Do you smoke? If so, how much & for how many years? 2. What type of utilities do you have? My reply, QUESTION 1. I ve answered this ad nauseum over the years. For the 150th time - NO, I DON T SMOKE. Never even tried it. QUESTION 2. My utilities are all-electric. No, I am NOT exposed to toxic gases/fumes. Got out in front of them on that one, huh? * sigh * I m a service connected vet with full V.A. privileges. Post-divorce, I have no choice except to utilize the V.A. for my healthcare needs. I don t have a lot of confidence in the quality of that care right now. Sadly.
