About Orlando VA Medical Center

Orlando VA Medical Center offers mental health care and substance abuse recovery to qualifying veterans and military personnel in the Orlando, Florida, area. They offer same day appointments and walk in services on an outpatient basis. If you require detox or a more intensive inpatient therapy, you may be referred to another location.

They offer individual and group counseling services here for addiction and mental health issues, such as PTSD, anxiety, self harming and OCD. They can also provide telehealth. They have recovery coordinators that will work with you to figure out the best plan to help you get started on your journey to recovery. They understand that veterans may have underlying issues that have triggered the substance use disorder. They’ll work with you through therapy to figure out the issue and recover from both the mental health disorder and the substance abuse.

If you are already a VA patient, you can reach out to your primary provider to assist you with getting an appointment with the VA mental health. If you are not already a VA patient, please get in touch with the VA mental health department to get an appointment set up. You may qualify for help without enrolling in VA Health Care. Sat in the ER for 1hr and 30 mins only 1 person was ahead of me. I was told a nurse will help me shortly after getting into a room. All the nurses were just walking around and talking.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs encompass multiple levels of care to facilitate clients' progress through their recovery journey. Clients who are stepping down from inpatient treatment may require intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment, which involves more frequent and substantive therapeutic interventions than does standard outpatient care. Outpatient centers typically provide extensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Medication assisted treatment programs (MAT) and recovery-focused life skills training are also common in outpatient care.

Treatments

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

In Florida, substance abuse treatment focuses on treating mental health and substance use disorders concurrently to improve recovery outcomes and overall health. Levels of care include medical detox, outpatient, residential treatment, and intensive outpatient programs. Clinicians utilize evidence-based therapies such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) or medication-assisted treatment, group therapy, and skills training activities. This comprehensive approach to treatment helps to ensure sustained recovery.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program

Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.

Rehabs with specialized programs for new mothers will offer compassionate, personalized care to meet each client's needs as they transition from pregnancy to this season of life. Care teams may include obstetricians, pediatricians, and social workers working collaboratively to give women, children, and families a healthy future.

Clinical Services

Life skills are the core skills you need for daily success. They can include self care, stress management, daily routines, and emotion control. Rehab treatment includes the development of these skills so you have the tools you need for long term recovery.

During family therapy sessions, you navigate the complexities of addiction and are provided tools to help improve communication and resolve conflicts. When you work together, families can better support their loved one's recovery and restore balance and harmony within the household.

Trauma therapy helps you work through the psychological impact that traumatic events have had on your life. Your therapist helps you identify the physical, emotional, and mental triggers and develop coping mechanisms. This helps rebuild a sense of safety and trust in yourself and others.

During couples therapy in Florida, your therapist will take steps to get to know you, help you identify feelings, explore the past, develop solutions, and help you learn skills to manage relationship challenges. This process will allow you to work through conflict and strengthen your relationship.

Substance abuse creates biochemical imbalances in your body and brain. By implementing dietary changes, you can restore that balance. This is the goal of nutrition therapy in Florida. You'll gain an understanding of what nutrients your body needs and learn best self care practices.

Best V.A. , I've ever been to ! 1st.class services!!! Hands down an 180* degrees turnaround In care us vets received now, compared to the nasty old style of care we usually got at most V.A. facilities in the past. Lk.Nona ,totally is a joyful and stress free visit with many volunteers and staff WHOM want to help us ! First time you go to Lk. Nona report straight to the customer service desk on 1st floor located between east and west parking at main entrance and someone will happily assist. They usually walk with you to where one needs to report for treatments. 1st time it's overwhelming because hospital is so large..So just head straight to that customer service booth and life will be good again ! Good-Luck...repeating, Lake Nona hasdee bestest facilties and staffing I've witnessed to date! Period..that is all !!

Ok... Ok.... I understand that we all get upset from time to time about our VA facilities and honestly every place regardless if the Federal Government, State or City service they all have a few bad apples and that is just part of life but honestly, we should appreciate much of the services, state of the art equipment, dedicated staff, VA Patient Advocate and much more many places are not like the VA. Nobody forces you to come but we do it because we know that is the best place!! So give the VA staff some slack and be patient and they are doing there best!! LAKE NONA!!!!!! Great JOB!!!!

This facility has dropped off. Or maybe it's just that they've stooped to the same level as every other VA facility I've had the displeasure of being treated by. No one answers their phones and when they do; they act like they've done you a favor by picking up the receiver. I hate this place and every employee that works here with every broken part of me I have left to hate with.
