This practice is a joke. No one ever checks/responds to the med refill line, and the receptionists are almost never helpful, they just continue to transfer you off to that voicemail. My provider (Laura) is amazing and helpful, but it is impossible to get ahold of her without making an appointment. I ve waited months without refills because of things like needing a prior authorization from insurance and the practice just letting these things sit and not doing anything about it. This is people s mental health we are talking about here going without medications or refills can be detrimental for some.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Counseling services suck. This for some reason is listed on a drug rehab site when it has no such services it is for mental health only. I was with them for nearly a decade. Wish I joined my friends sooner and went somewhere else.

My son was assigned to Mike through telehealth. The first 3 appointments went great, but then Mike started missing appointments. He was also supposed to email me documents and insists he did numerous times, but I never received them. After the 4th appointment he missed in a row, I called the office to see if my son could see someone different but I was denied that request because Mike put it on the calendar that WE were the ones missing the appointments, despite me having multiple text messages from him apologizing for forgetting the appointments and begging me to reschedule. When I brought this to the receptionist's attention, I was told it would be taken to the office manager and that she would call me back. I received a single email from her about it. I replied with screenshots of the text messages and never got a response. 3 months later (in January) I got a letter from them via USPS telling me I had 10 days to contact them or they'd be dropping my son as a patient due to "frequent no call/no shows." When I called the office about this, I was told the manager would call me back. She never did.

Worst place you could go to for mental health. First time I went there I was sitting, waiting for an hour. Went up to the desk and come to find out the women downstairs never checked me in. They took no accountability at all and said next time I m waiting that long I need to come up and say something. Got scheduled for my next appointment and was waiting to receive medical records from the psychiatrist I went to when I was younger. Was told I would be called when they got it, weeks passed and heard nothing. I call and then was told my psychiatrist was with a patient and she d call me after. No call. I called them back a few hours later and was told that they had my medical records. I explained my frustration calmly about how I received no communication from them and still, no accountability on their part was taken. Was talked to like it was my fault and they did no wrong. Now I m waiting to have gene testing done. Was told I d be called by a nurse to set up the appointment and over a week has gone by and still nothing. Called today and was told she was with a patient and they d get back to me. Highly doubtful. I ll probably have to call again. I wouldn t recommend this place to anyone who s trying to heal I just wanted to get started on something so then I can go somewhere better. Place is a train wreck.

This is a tentative score as my counselor was disrespectful and unprofessional. I asked for a new counselor, which they obliged, so depending on how that goes, the score could increase or decrease. we'll see Edit: ok, I know this edit has been a while. Here goes. I lowered it to one star. After telling the management I did not want the unprofessional rude woman to call me to apologize, she called anyway. I hung the phone up on her. I went to another lady, and while better, it also looked like she was daydreaming during our session. So, if you have the insurance, please go somewhere else.

I have been going to the Warren office on Market Street for 4+ plus years now. I have had a wonderful experience. I did go through a couple counselors before I found a fit for me. I now see Cherri and she is absolutely amazing if it wasn't for her I don't know where I would be today. She has been my Saving Grace.I also see a psychiatrist her name is Nicole. She is also great she is patient. She is compassionate, it took several different medications to finally find what has worked for me. Please don't give up, ask for a different counselor ask for a different doctor it is your right. Not everybody is right for you you have to find your person. Even if you cannot find it at Valley counseling please continue to seek the help you need. My life has changed for the better and I'm actually starting to feel like myself again. It's a process, and even though I did the work I couldn't have done it without Cherri and Nicole...thank you both for doing what you do.

If you mess with pseudoscience and abusers, don't expect to be treated well. Stop messing with and supporting a broken and greedy system.

Kara is an amazing counselor, and Dawn an amazing psychologist! I've never had an issue with anyone there, they have all been very respectful, kind, and helpful to me! Very clean place too. I never wait more than 10-15 minutes until I'm seen for my appointment. I'm really thankful for this place!
