About Valle Vista Health System

Valle Vista Health System is a behavioral health care organization in Greenwood, Indiana. Clients have access to both psychiatric and addiction disorder treatment. Care is given to both adults and adolescents. For addiction recovery, the organization offers inpatient, outpatient and partial hospitalization treatment services. The recovery process may include medication assisted treatment (MAT).

Valle Vista Health System focuses on using evidence based therapeutic approaches to help patients learn effective coping skills to prevent relapse. All patients undergo an assessment and medical evaluation before staff members create a personalized plan that suits their needs. The facility accepts clients to the treatment program based on a need for treatment and presenting symptoms as well as willingness to adhere to program requirements.

The specific program you will be part of will depend on the level of care you need. Inpatient treatment offers 24 hour round the clock care as you work to recover from addiction. The adult partial hospitalization program is a five days a week program where you get treatment six hours per day. The intensive outpatient program is a short term addiction treatment program where you meet at the facility three days a week for a few hours in the morning or evening.

You’ll engage in group and family therapy and mental health focused programming centered around cognitive behavioral therapy. The services in the outpatient treatment program also include educational resources and an introduction to communication resources. Valle Vista Health System helps individuals addicted to any opioid, regardless of whether it’s an illegal or prescription drug. In the children and teens treatment program, they provide treatment for mental health issues such as anxiety and PTSD, along with treating substance abuse or co occurring disorders.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. Short-term, outpatient treatment for patients who don’t need around-the-clock care. Less concentrated level of treatment than the partial program.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

For long-term recovery from drug addiction, drug rehab in Indiana is often key. This treatment gives individuals who are struggling with a substance use disorder the tools to manage their disorder and achieve long-term sobriety.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Most of the staff was incredibly rude and unattentive, they only paid attention to some patients but the rest of us 'didn't have a too serious issue' so they would just give us pills. I honestly DO NOT recommend taking your loved ones here.

I was in valle vista youth for one week. The staff wasn't bad and the treatment wasn't bad.the only bad thing about the place was the rooms. I understand the beds aren't supposed to be comfortable but at the same time I didn't get any sleep because I felt like I was laying on bricks. Not only that but in my room( 323) my sink did not work at all. It wouldn't turn on and the staff did nothing about it. But some of my favorite staff worked with me. But my feelings about valle vista will never change it's the worst but best place I've been too

If I could give -5 stars I would. Very incompetent clinicians , nurses, and physicians. A family member tried to get admitted and the service was utterly awful. They needed assistance with walking and was told walkers weren t allowed but a wheelchair would be provided. How about they didn t receive a wheelchair but instead was given someone else s cane. And to put the icing on this beautiful cake, she was denied being admitted due to high blood pressure. My family member informed said physician that she hasn t taken her evening meds and that if she took them and waited for about 30-40 min her BP would be in the normal range. But no instead they were trying to force them to go to St. Francis. I am beyond infuriated. This clinic has no welcoming staff. Very cold and careless.

This place is a joke. I went for PHP and elizabeth and lisa are frauds. They lie to you and say the 10 day program will change your life, but it made mine worse. I was put on 5 different medications within 3 weeks of being there and kept seeing different people for it who didn't communicate with eachother. Lisa will get mad at you for refusing to take certain medication's you aren't comfortable with taking. They also LIED about insurance covering the program. I got a $2000 bill in the mail when they made my life worse instead of helping me. They claim the nasty hospital meals are free but you're paying for it. I wouldn't go here. IOP is also a waste of time as it didn't help me at all. This place is simply a joke.

This place is awful. I recommend the Saint Vincent Stress Center in Castleton that is a much better choice if you're struggling with a mental illness crisis, go there instead, it's worth it. They treat you with respect and dignity there. I was sent to Valle Vista recently after a mental illness medical emergency in the ER, and I was very disappointed with my stay as were my loved ones. I would have rather stayed at my local hospital that would have actually helped. The staff don't know anything and are really rude and unkind to the residents. I saw much mistreatment and disrespect to the patients that they're supposed to be helping. This is a terrible place if anything it increased my mental illness crisis, it definitely didn't help me by any means. I cried tears of joy when I was able to leave this horrible place. I will never forget the mistreatment I witnessed and felt by the staff at this place. It is really dirty and loud too. Waste of time. Don't go here. There are better places, don't waste it here.

Our son spent several weeks at Valley Vista. The direct caregivers seem to be invested in doing their best. As far as administration, I could never get a hold of the main administrator as well as the case manager from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield who attempted several contacts via phone. We were discouraged after five weeks that he spent there he had no significant progress. He then was transferred to St. Vincent s hospital s Psych unit and in three weeks he was successfully moving forward. Also $300 worth of his clothing was Not located upon his transfer? Overall,it was a very mediocre type of Medical experience.

Lost my (adult) sons phone. Released him with a lyft ride to a friend's house with no way to call or communicate with family or friends. I was told they would reimburse the cost of the phone with a receipt. When I called wanting to make arrangements to bring the receipt in, they claimed they knew nothing about the phone. Absolutely horrible experience, I would not recommend this facility for anybody.

Tell your patients to stop throwing their used needles on the ground! It's disgusting and unsafe to everyone else. Sharp safety should've been number 1 thing taught before being given medication! Do better!
