I went to Wingate Wilderness Therapy when I was 15 after my mom died and I wasn't doing well. I found this place and asked my dad to send me. I went in very angry, confused and lost, but I came out a totally different person. I felt like I had purpose and I had reverted back to my true self. I didn't wish death upon myself anymore, i didn't want to hurt other people who did me wrong, I just wanted to start over and be successful in life (and I am). I will never forget the miracle that Wingate helped facilitate. The people who are posting bad reviews did not go to Wingate, they went somewhere else that probably did abuse them. I can assure you Wingate would never do that. Thank you to everyone who helped me back then!

My personal experience: I was 16 when I went and I have to admit my behavior was definitely different when I got out. It taught me discipline and respect for myself and others. I learned to make decisions starting from personal responsibility to educational opportunities. I definitely recommend this place.I fought back the first few weeks and maybe even months but it s like a wild horse who had trauma, they are eventually going to learn and it s going to take time.I recommend! This program has helped me become so much more independent, trustworthy, and just in general feel like I am worth something. All of the staff who are employed here want to help the students. Countless times I have heard from the coaches here that this job is so much more rewarding because of what this job allows them to do, such as helping their students. Brook Price as the program director always makes sure that the program benefits its students. I attended this program for around 6-7 months and I did graduate from here, I do not regret coming here at all. All I have is appreciation for the coaches/staff.

In fact I am updating my review because they ve moved and the new place is beautiful and very private! It s so clean and welcoming. I love the staff! So so much. It's a great place sometimes you have to give some time with your medication to work I tried before bed and it wasn't working or in the morning then i tried 4 hours before sleep and it finally after a couple months if you are on medication and everything is going good that means don't stop taking cause it's working. Also share your goals and maybe sign up for duo diagnose class.. I'm in the mental court and I enjoy how much I have grown in those classes you have to be willing and open minded on the therapy sometimes they know what they are talking while you getting frustrated about overwhelmed about the busy schedule you have but long run it's skills that you can cope to remain sober and cope with your emotions since they play major role on relapse and making bad decisions
