About Unity Hospital

Rochester Regional Health used to be called Unity Hospital of Rochester. They provide alcohol and drug rehab services to teens and adults in Rochester, New York. Detox, inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and aftercare are offered. Those with dual diagnosis are treated within each program. They also accept clients under court orders.

At Rochester Regional clients at all levels of care may receive medication management. This program combines FDA approved medications with mental health therapy. Medications help manage withdrawal symptoms, reduce cravings, and stabilize your body.

MAT is provided in conjunction with medical detox. Detox may take place in the facility with supervision or at home, depending on your situation. After detox, you’ll transition into an inpatient or outpatient setting.

The inpatient program is for adults and lasts between 14 and 28 days on average. Individual therapy, group therapy, recreational therapy, and educational classes are provided. Additionally, goal planning, skills development classes, medication management, and discharge planning are offered. Custom meals include Kosher and vegetarian options. Dieticians and translators can be consulted if needed. Rcohester also has assistance for those who are hard of hearing or vision impaired.

The outpatient program consists of individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. These are similar to the inpatient program, except you won’t need to stay overnight. A specialty track is available for teens. Additionally, the outpatient program offers an impaired driver program.

After you complete your recovery program, the PROS program can help with social services. They provide tips for finding housing, continuing therapy, and primary care if needed.

POMCO, and TRICARE. Medicare is accepted. Please check your insurance provider for coverage and out of network benefits.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in New York occurs when family members and friends lovingly confront someone with a substance use disorder. The goal of this confrontation is to motivate the person to seek treatment. Loved ones point out how the person's destructive behavior is affecting them in hopes that they will agree to get help. Most inpatient rehab facilities offer intervention services that can help families walk through this process step by step.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
For many different stages and therapies offered during addiction treatment, it's essential to offer 24-hour clinical care in New York. often involves medication treatment for drug or alcohol detox. The withdrawal symptoms experienced during detox can be dangerous, but having medical experts on-site around the clock means someone is always there to step in and provide emergency medical care when and if it is ever needed.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Was there on August 26th, 2024 around 8pm. Was in the emergency room for over 2 hours, and I left due to frustration and received NO SERVICES from them. And they have the gall to send me a bill for 331 dollars and some change. That's like me going to the deli, getting a ticket to wait and leaving yet being charged. This is truly diabolical and unethical.

My mom was on the third floor! After spending two nights in a crowded noisy ER. She broke her hip and cracked her head open and needed eight Staples in the back. As I know everybody has been affected by this awful pandemic everybody. Especially in the health field they are very low on staff and I understand that. I was a little disappointed due to the fact of family member found my mother sitting in her own urine. I also brought up at least five different sweatshirts and hoodies to her being so cold, when she was just charged she had the same sweater on I put on 5 days earlier after her sponge bath hello Park ridge that's why we brought my mother stuff up so she could be changed not have her clean clothes to sit there growing dust. Most of the nurses were really nice with my mom given the fact she is not a very nice patient she is difficult and then the first one to admit that. But when you're in the hospital and you already been through multiple surgeries as my mother has of course you're going to be a little bit irritable. It was mostly clean Park ridge but as far as keeping up with changing my mom that didn't happen and I don't think a couple were too nice to my mom. I know you guys are working against the clock I know you are understaffed and you all are afraid of the virus but the elderly are people too you just can't leave them sitting there crying sitting in their own pee. If you don't like your job get a new one cuz one day you're all going to be elderly and you're going to be in that position and you're going to know how it is to sit in your own pee. I'm glad my mother's home with my sisters and my dad being changed and a warm comfy bed the best thing we did was to get her out of there. Don't get me wrong I still like Park ridge but not lawn Care on the third floor oh no no no no. Thank you thank you all er staff for taking and caring 4 my mom yesterday morning 9/1/24 the nurse, Jason and PA on duty our so super nice. Everyone was!! If I ever get sick or break a bone ima going 2 Unity

Have been sitting in the waiting room in the ED for over two hours while sitting here I have witnessed HIPPA being violated on more than one occasion. A Spanish speaking patient needed a translator the translator was on speaker phone at the registration desk loud enough for everyone to hear in the room revealing all of the patients private and personal health information. Staff arguing with other staff members creating a hostile environment for both employees and patients.

Intake nurse lied on my medical record. The doctor that was supposedly seen me never examined me. Although I came in by ambulance from work they never gave me a return to work slip. No compassion whatsoever.

If I could i d give them 0 stars. I went Thursday for pain that was around my appendix, after my primary sent me straight to Unity. I was stuck in a bed in the hallway where you can hear all the other patients medical history, diagnosis etc being talked about in the open. No privacy at all for them (even when they re in a room). Dirty garbage from previous patients who were also admitted and given a bed in the hallway. After being there for 6 hours i was not given any ibuprofen that I was told I was getting until i was leaving. Had an anxiety attack and some doctor yelled at me in my face and told me to put my big girl panties on and grow up. She complained to me how she didn t want to be there to do her job so I shouldn t feel how i felt. Instead acted like I should feel sorry she chose the career she did. And how she obviously hates it. Not to mention she wasn t even my doctor she just happened to walk by when i started having an anxiety attack. I wasn t even being loud or causing a scene. She was bothered I was starting to cry and had asked a nurse to help me. Because I was in pain and no one else was to be found or cared. The nurse who I had first seen when I got to the hospital put my IV in wrong and it filled up with blood. I told two doctors that my IV stung and was in pain and they told me i had not felt any pain and treated me as if I was a liar and walked away. Then the nurse that was actually nice and had been the one I went to, to get help had told me my IV was put in wrong and she was surprised no one else had noticed the blood that had filled up in the IV and that i d be in pain from it, so she had taken it out. The other doctor I had to take me to my CT scan made me very uncomfortable and he kept calling me baby girl and baby maybe 10 times and kept touching my lower back and trying to hold my gown for me in the back. Even though I had asked him to stop doing that. I had asked two people working where the bathroom was and they all told me to ask someone else as they just stood there talking together about their social lives and drama. My arm was swollen from it for 3 days. Lastly the doctors gave me false information on my CT they had told me I had cysts on my ovaries. Ended up seeing another doctor outside the hospital who they had faxed my scans to and they told me there was nothing in my CT showing I had that. Months later found out it was just my gallbladder that was the issue and ended up having surgery.
