Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Uncle Daves Housing is pretty decent. I moved in and lived there for a few months in 2021after getting hired for a good job and after living in homeless shelters and couch surfing on and off for about two years. The feeling was nice. The people living there and management were kool and layed back, everyone minded their own business and were good at keeping the place clean and sanitized. The only thing, I had to be placed in a four man bedroom because that was all that was available at the time. No complaints though. It all went smooth for me.

Response from the owner2 years ago
I believe you lived with us for many years and never complained. In fact others agreed you liked it very much. I'm sorry you felt it was necessary to give a 1 star to a company that gave you affordable housing and helped you out in difficult times.

I lived at one of Uncle Dave's Housing properties for almost 4 yrs, besides it being very affordable, I felt pretty safe considering it's public housing. The place was pretty clean considering the rooms are shared. Would I recommend Uncle Dave's Housing? Yes, to any one who doesn't mind sharing rooms and common space for the sake of saving money.

Could be a lot better. I stayed here a month when I arrived in L.A. 2 years ago. The good things were the blue line a block and a half away; the library was just as close; Denny's, Subway, Rite Aid, and Food 4 Less were in the same shopping center as the library. Inside, the maintenance men were very friendly, and compassionate. Now for the bad: Roaches were seen during the day in the kitchen, some guests cooked at night, and food left in the 'fridge was at the mercy of anyone who had the combination for the padlock. You were better off storing some items in the space you paid for. Because most of the guests were slobs, the bedbugs were celebrating. The bedbugs were all over, hiding by day, biting unsuspecting guests in the wee hours of the morning. Fogging one space forced the bugs into another.

Bedbug ridden joint! - you would be better off sleeping under a freeway! A young actor is covered in WELTS and DAVE and PETE REFUSED to refund him and his friends the $1500 so they could go elsewhere! BEWARE!

Response from the owner2 years ago
We have since hired a professional pest control company to come out on a regular basis. We have not had any bed bug problems in years. Unfortunately, the clientele we assist often can bring them in. However if there is ever a sighting we act on it immediately.
