Accepted Insurance

UAB Medical West Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have medical support available around the clock, and 24-hour clinical care in Alabama offers a safe environment in which you can begin your recovery journey. This feature offers constant supervision in situations like medical detox, where a team of professionals are on hand to ensure the withdrawal processs is performed safely and comfortably.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Proper nutrition increases comfort levels during detox and supports healing during drug rehab in Alabama. Nutrition therapy provides this crucial, balanced nourishment and helps you develop skills for long term health throughout recovery.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nicotine replacement therapy in Alabama may be a good option for you if you're dependent on cigarettes or similar products. This therapy allows you to slowly lower your intake of nicotine so you don't suffer extreme withdrawal or cravings as you quit smoking.

They always have a problem treating you with any kind of decency. They are rude and have no respect for your time. And when you try calling they almost always don't bother to answer and when they do they don't tell you anything useful.

Terrible place to bring anyone. My boyfriend was brought in by ambulance. When I got here the girl at the desk said she didn t see him in the computer. Wouldn t call back to see if he was there. She told me to wait a few minutes and see. Finally after about 5 minutes I asked her why she couldn t walk herself back there and find out if he was here

Upstairs after my son had surgery was great. Nurses were helpful and considerate.ER I would NEVER use again. I took my adult special needs son in for severe stomach pain. Two weeks earlier I had taken him to urgent care for the same pain and he was put on antibiotics for it. I informed them of this.It turned out he had a hot appendix. The morphine they gave him did not do anything to stop the pain. I went to the nurses desk 3 times and no one came to give him anything else for pain or even to tell us what was going on.I used the call button 3 times at least. The first time they answered and I told them he was still in a lot of pain. After that, they just opened the channel and left it open a minute then closed it. Never said anything, never responded to my saying "hello".After I finally tracked his nurse down and asked her what was going on, she told me his CT results weren't back yet. That was because they never took him to get a CT.I told her we were leaving. Then she came into his curtained area and said the doctor said "since the morphine isn't working, what do you suggest?" Completely unprofessional and made me feel like they thought we were drug seeking. She told me the CT was backed up and I completely understand that but they should have gotten him pain relief. Then someone came in to chastise me for complaining about his pain. Told me I can't just snap my fingers and expect immediate service. Rude, but again I understand an ER visit is an absolute minimum of 5 hours. The time is no problem. The unrelenting pain is a big problem!Once they got the CT and discovered he was not seeking drugs, things happened quickly and he was moved upstairs. If I could do it again, I would have taken him to the stand alone ER on highway 150. He would have ended up admitted anyway but we could have avoided this horrible ER.

The absolute worst hospital experience ever. Rude and unprofessional staff as well as not listening to one word the patient tells them resulting in pain that could have been avoided.

I can t remember this young lady full name, but she was one of the nurses that cared for my daughter in LD. Macy if that is correct and Brandi were absolutely amazing. When you re looking for quality care and you receive it, your total experience has a better outcome. These two ladies gave everything they had in them as nurses and beyond to care for my daughter. If this one message could reach someone, please show these two ladies some gratitude. Now let me say this Dr. Peter s was her physician and I must say, he is absolutely a Blessing from God . He assembled the team and prayed over my daughter and family, we are forever thankful for you Dr. Peter s. CAHABA YOURE #1 in my book.

I had to visit this free standing ER for a medical issue that required a CT scan. They took my insurance info and charged me my copay as usual. I had already met my deductible a few months prior.1 month after my visit I got a bill from them for a lot of money, showing that insurance paid $0. After multiple calls I finally got to speak with someone, who said they ran my info incorrectly, and "if I still had a balance" I'd get my updated bill soon. Now, 2 months later, I get my next bill from them for even more money than previously (incorrectly) charged. Thousands of dollars, run through BCBS, and threatening credit score-affecting outsourced debt collection even though this is the first bill I've received since.I do not recommend going to this ER if you have any other choices.
