About U Turn For Christ New Mexico

U-Turn For Christ is a two-month minimum residential ministry of restoration for men struggling with the sin of addiction. U-Turn For Christ is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

At U-Turn for Christ, they believe Jesus is the only way to true freedom from the sin of addiction. Their program is based entirely on the Word of God. Christian discipleship is at the center of everything we do.

Phase 1 is a two-month phase of the program with a highly restricted and monitored schedule. The resident must complete foundational courses of personal study, attend daily instructional studies and attend regular church services. Studies will address issues that lead to addictions, destructive behavior, wrong decision making, and much more.

Phase 2 is four months of the residential stay, where the resident now becomes a serious Bible student, required to attend special study classes as well as the daily instructional studies and church services. Work projects for Phase Two residents may be outside of the residence and more community focused, emphasizing the serving of others. This phase is still very restrictive and structured.

Do not send loved ones to this house of horrors. Torture, physical abuse, and punishment delivered though a supposedly Biblical based mission. I am concerned why an amazing church like Calvary would sponsor this despicable place.

Dear Alisa T., I would like to address some concerns regarding your son Christopher's time with us. During his stay over a year ago, Christopher was found in possession of multiple illegal substances and did not respect the sobriety of others in our program. Additionally, it was observed that you and other family members were enabling his harmful behavior, which impacted his progress in the program. Contrary to claims, there was no torture, physical abuse, or punishment involved. Christopher was given multiple opportunities to demonstrate his commitment to the program, but due to safety concerns arising from his reckless behavior, we had to make the difficult decision to remove him from our program. Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Consulting intervention services can help you plan an effective drug intervention in New Mexico. An intervention specialist will assess your loved one's circumstances and suggest the best approach to take for the intervention itself and for follow-up treatment. Intervention services can also provide follow-up care for family members, regardless of whether the individual chooses to enter treatment.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Each drug rehab in New Mexico offers unique amenities and treatment methods. Common aspects of treatment include group and individual counseling, recreational therapy, medication management, and healthy living. Aftercare is often provided to prevent relapse.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

This place is special. I'm glad to be part of the U-turn family! My life has been significantly impacted by the program and relationships at U-turn. While I was there, God showed me the power of humility. He also showed me that even though I SAID I wanted to follow Him and walk in obedience, I would have a LOT of surrendering to do (and still do!) before I was no longer lord of my life. At U-turn, I learned what it means to ABIDE, to truly trust God to meet my needs and to stay at His cross. It was NOT easy, but nothing worthwhile ever comes easily. U-turn helps you get the things that really matter- maturity, sobriety, restoration, new life- fruits of the obedient and faithful follower. I graduated my 1st phase, and while I was there for 2 months i saw and met a lot of men that wanted to change, wanted restoration-but they wanted it on THEIR terms. That's not how God works, He plays second chair to nobody. We have to come to Him on His terms, and we have to live according to His will, not ours and that definitely includes discipleship and spiritual growth. Because of U-turn I gladly seek and follow His plan for me. I no longer live to fulfill my flesh or empty desires, life has been so good and sobriety is just one of the benefits of my new life.If you're considering this program for yourself or for a loved one, then trust and believe God has you (or them) right where you're supposed to be and that nothing happens "by chance". For one reason or another, U-turn is before you-so I'll finish with this:U-TURN WORKS. Lives are changed and miracles happen everyday at U-turn. God moves through the program, in and around the lives of the residents and you'll literally feel His presence the moment you walk through the ranch's front door. It's a place full of hard work and God's grace. At the ranch they have a belief, that "PRAYER CHANGES THINGS". If you're considering U-turn for yourself or a family member, I encourage you to pray and ask what God wants you to do. If you're honestly seeking Him, He'll leave no doubt in your mind what He desires. Be blessed!U-turn, thank you for the foundation you've helped me lay. I thank God for allowing me to become a member the family! God bless you and all the people He brings to the ministry.

THIS IS BEN HENCH. MOST PEOPLE FORGET, THAT THOSE WRITING NEGATIVE REVIEWS, THAT THIS PLACE HAS A STANDING THAT THEY CANNOT BEND THE RULES FOR ONE PERSON AND NOT THE OTHERS. ALSO PEOPLE FORGET THEY ARE STILL HUMAN BEINGS AND MAKE MISTAKES. WE ARE ALL HUMAN BEINGS IMPERFECT AS WE ARE, GOD'S GRACE STILL COMES THRU FOR ALL OF US. EVEN WHEN MISTAKES ARE DONE. EVEN LEADERS ARE STILL HUMAN AND MORE THEN EVER INSTEAD OF TEARING THEM APART, PRAY FOR THEM AND ASK THAT GOD'S GRACE KEEPS THEM UP AND GOING. WHEN PEOPLE WHO ARE FOLLOWING CHRIST AND CONSTANTLY POURING THEMSELVES OUT TO PEOPLE, ITS LOT OF WORK AND ITS ONLY THRU CHRIST THEY CAN DO THIS. EVEN LEADERSHIP MAKES WRONG DECISIONS JUST AS YOU AND I DO, EVERYDAY, THEY NOT PERFECT. IF YOU THINK SOME ONE MADE A WRONG DECISION, PUTTING IT ON A REVIEW IS NOT HOW TO HANDLE IT. THE BIBLE IS VERY CLEAR ON HOW TO HANDLE DISPUTES BETWEEN BELIEVERS. THOUGH I UNDERSTAND EMOTIONS ARE INVOLVED, AND THINGS GET HARD AT TIMES, WE STILL NEED TO FOLLOW WHAT GOD TELLS US TO DO WHEN WE FEEL SOMEONE HAS WRONGED US. MINISTERING TO PEOPLE ON A FULL TIME BASIS'S IS HARD AND TRYING. SOMETHING YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER, IF GOD FELT THIS PLACE WAS WRONG, I CAN GUARANTEE YOU, HE WOULD SHUT IT DOWN. PEOPLE WHO COME HERE, NEED TO A VERY STRUCTURED LIFE AND THINGS HAVE TO BE DONE STRUCTURED, AND THINGS HAVE TO DONE IN AWAY THAT IS SUPPORTIVE AND LOVING FOR THEM, AND LEADERSHIP IS DOING THEIR VERY BEST TO FOLLOW WHAT GOD IS ASKING THEM TO DO. SO I PRAY FOR ALL US WHO ARE FOLLOWING CHRIST TO REALLY LOOK AT OUR OWN LIVES BEFORE PUTTING THINGS IN A REVIEW. I HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT DIVISION IS THE BEST TOOL THAT THE ENEMY HAS TO DESTROY EACH AND EVERYONE OF US. I AM NOT BEEN A CHRISTIAN VERY LONG, AND I AM LEARNING THIS, AND TRUST ME ITS NOT THE EASIEST THING TO DO, WHEN PEOPLE HAVE TO CALL EACH OTHER ON THINGS AND WHEN ITS DONE IN LOVE, MERCY AND GRACE, WE CAN ALL LEARN HOW TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS CHRIST LOVED US. SO I ASK THAT ANY OF YOU WHO WANT TO WRITE A NEGATIVE VIEW ON THIS MINISTRY TO CHECK YOUR MOTIVES, YOUR HEART, AND ASK YOURSELF, IS THIS THE CHRIST LIKE WAY TO HANDLE THIS.

I went through this program starting in July of 2018, I didn't have any money to enter the program and they let me in anyways, I'm very grateful for that however in my experience with the program, the focus more on discipline than they actually do helping you get through your problems. I had to dig a few holes which was their form of discipline for a couple of reasons. One of which was I bought 5 monsters, I don't drink that many monsters in one day, I don't think I could. No one told me there was a limit, another one was because I had Christian books, in Phase 1 you're only allowed to have the Bible but because I didn't feel comfortable letting them know that I had them I didn't want to dig another hole but I had to dig one anyways. I had a very severe back injury that I incurred on one of their work calls, I could barely walk and it even hurt to breathe. I ended up leaving the program because I couldn't dig the hole, they would not even let me make an exit phone call, they told me I had to walk two miles to the closest gas station but if I left, the door would be close behind me and I couldn't come back. We went to a Saturday men's bible study at New Covenant Church, there I use the pastor's phone to call my mom, I chose to leave the program by calling her and they ended up just leaving me at the church. I could not even get a ride back to go get my stuff, Shelby is the head overseer and is extremely immature and very judgemental. I did not feel safe expressing in my struggles, that alone is not a good healing environment to be in if you're trying to overcome serious addictions. I would recommend finding another program like Victory Outreach, Teen Challenge, or Expect A Miracle. There is one individual there that I want to give some praise to, that is Vernon, the assistant overseer. he has a lot of compassion and understanding and is a great person to talk to if you just need to get some things off your chest. Out of all the leadership there he's the one that I miss the most. You can genuinely tell that he cares when you speak to him. And that is the only person there that I can say that about. Shelby is a good person too, he is just way too immature to be in the position that he is, Vernon should be the head overseer and Shelby should be the assistant overseer. The way they run their leadership should go based on who's the best fit candidate, and NOT on who has been there the longest.

First of all i never said the program its self was bad. I think the house leaders need to be replaced. So don't sit there and say im putting down the program. My brother has be come a whole new person through his faith in God. But i don't understand how he got kicked out for being under the influence when no one was there when he returned back to the ranch that night. He was kicked out through a text message not in person so how was he tested. I feel like you will try to justify your action anyway you can so you dont like the bad person. And its easier to blame a recovering addict. I know for a fact my brother wasnt under the influence i was with him the whole time. But again why believe his family right. All i can say is God knows the truth and we only have to answer to him for our lies. But a little advice maybe you should talk to some of the people who graduated phase 1 and see what they have to say about your house leaders. It wasnt just my brother who saw the wrong going on there. But he was targeted because he wasnt afraid of speaking up and calling people out on things. But once again i never said the program its self was not good you guys just have bad decision making when it comes to who watches everyone in the house.

At the beginning the program was great and I truly believed in the program and felt they were doing right by our Lord. My brother was in the program, he finished Phase I and started in phase II. He had an emergency arise and asked for permission to leave for the weekend, it was approved by Robert. When my brother returned on Sunday evening everyone was gone, he stayed at the house alone for a while, then receives a call from Pastor Mike that he needs to leave, keep in mind this is 9:00pm. This isn't the first time they have kicked someone out this late in the middle of winter. He explained he had permission to leave for the weekend and forwarded the text proving he had permission. Pastor Mike stated that my brother walked from the program. My brother tried to make calls to Robert and of course wouldn't answer. How could they live by the word of our Lord and lie and throw someone out late at night. Shelters are closed at this time and some people may not have anywhere to go. How do they sleep at night doing this to one of God's children. All I can do is pray for them!!

I first came to UTFCNM in April of 2016. I had been in and out of jail, tried every kind of rehab or facility that I could to get clean. Through UTFCNM not only have I finally surrendered to the Lord after many years of running from Him, but I also have been given an opportunity to serve God once again. This program has radically changed my life in ways that I cannot describe. Only GOD can do these kinds of things, and He has done them for me and my family through this ministry. Over the last two years, through this wonderful ministry, I have seen a complete restoration of my own life, as well as the life of my immediate family. Along with my wife and five children, I also have been restored back to my mother, father, sister, and her children as well as all members of my wife's family. What a tremendous blessing!!! I also have to give credit where credit is due and often not given in ministry. As a matter of fact, we are slandered and persecuted despite our efforts to help others. Our director/pastor, Michael Gomez. This faithful man of God has been with me every step of the way for the last 19 months. Even when I was not doing well, he was there. The hours that he puts in on a daily basis to both the men's and women's ranch are both remarkable and commendable. Not only does he invest and sacrifice for our ministry, he also is on staff at our home church Calvary Chapel Southwest, and a husband and father to three children. Another person who I must mention is Rob Fisk. He, along with Pastor Mike has seen me through thick and thin in my time at UTFCNM. When I first got to the ranch, Rob was there standing with me as I was adjusting to the new environment. When I began to do well and advance in the ministry first as a phase one leader then as his Assistant Overseer, Rob was there. When I decided to leave and was gone for several months and I relapsed, he saw that my family was in need, and guess what, ROB WAS THERE. Even now that I am back and once again his assistant, Rob continues to be there not only for me, but my family as well. My kids know him as Uncle Rob. As a matter of fact, he recently came to my daughters birthday party and walked into the restaurant with the biggest stuffed animal you can buy. Once again, Rob was there. I have never NOT seen him do anything in his power for the guys at UTFCNM. This ministry is thriving and I am beyond blessed just to be here. I highly recommend U Turn for Christ to both men and women. With obedience, humility, and a willingness to completely surrender to God, ANY life can be radically transformed with the supernatural power of Jesus Christ. As a worship leader for many years I will close with the following lyrics from one of my all time favorite hymns, "There is power, power, wonder working power in the precious blood of the Lamb." Jesus was that lamb. A perfect, spotless and blameless lamb who came to save anyone who is willing and wanting to be saved from a world that is lost and dying. Gob bless UTFCNM and all their servants.

This place has completely changed my life! I'm a prime example of someone, whom everyone thought, would never climb out of the muck and the mire of addiction. Through U Turn for Christ, I have accepted a dramatic transformation and I know this would not have been possible without all the great people associated with this program. My salvation through Jesus Christ the Redeemer is the priceless wonder in which I exude tremendous gratitude. Thanks again U Turn for Christ. Couldn't have done it without you!
