Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs enable clients to receive a full continuum of care while continuing to live at home. They're often ideal for clients who are stepping down from inpatient care but some clients may prefer to transition into outpatient treatment immediately after completing detox. Many outpatient facilities also offer ambulatory medical detox for low-risk clients. Outpatient treatment generally includes psychotherapy and life skills training. Clients in opioid and/or alcohol recovery may also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).

aftercare iconAftercare

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Clients who are exiting inpatient rehab, those who are experiencing crisis, and those who prefer to live at home while in treatment typically enroll in intensive inpatient programs (IOP). These programs feature frequent and robust care, generally requiring clients to participate in at least nine hours of care weekly, though many intensive outpatient rehabs offer up to 20 treatment hours per week. IOP services typically combine individual, group, and family counseling with recovery education and holistic therapies.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

A sober living home in New Jersey is for individuals who are recovering from alcohol and drug addiction issues. This type of halfway house residence is focused on helping individuals learn and apply the tools of recovery. The setting provides fellowship, support, and structure to prevent relapse. The homes are typically designed for either men or women, but some may offer space for women with their children.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

A drug intervention in New Jersey is more than a confrontational conversation. This organized effort is specific and goal-oriented. During the intervention, family members share specific examples of how the person’s addiction has impacted their lives and spell out what they will do if the individual does not get treatment. The intervention also presents a clear treatment plan, which typically involves input from intervention services.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term, intensive outpatient option designed for those with moderate to severe addictions who don’t require 24-hour care. PHP treatment is often fully covered by insurance and provides structured programming (i.e. individual and group therapy). A typical partial hospitalization program can meet 3-5 days a week for a minimum of 20 hours, offering intensive treatment during the day while allowing you to return home after. PHP treatment duration can vary based on your progress but averages 90 days.

telehealth iconTelehealth

Telehealth is the use of digital communication technologies to access drug and mental care services remotely to manage your care with is common especially with the lower levels.

check iconDual Diagnosis

New Jersey has a variety of dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs, including inpatient and outpatient drug and alcohol rehabs, that recognize the unique needs of individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. These programs typically employ evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-focused therapy, and art therapy to successfully address co-occurring disorders and support sustained recovery.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health often overlooked, but it's a critical component of addiction treatment and recovery. Mental health disorders can significantly impact your quality of life, relationships, and ability to function on a daily basis. Mental health conditions - depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder - and addiction require specialized treatment just like any other physical illness. When people have a mental health disorder and an addiction simultaneously, dual diagnosis treatment is essential.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

intervention iconGroup Therapy

At opioid rehab in New Jersey, patients receive individualized treatment that is adjusted to meet their needs as they progress toward recovery. Addiction specialists partner with each individual to tailor their treatment to address specific challenges that contribute to their addiction.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

My brother has been dealing with severe PTSD and anxiety for years. We had tried other mental health centers, but nothing worked long-term. When we found True Life Care in Morris Plains, NJ, everything changed. The staff here truly understands trauma. They not only helped him in a safe and supportive environment but also focused heavily on treating the root causes of his PTSD. The therapy he received was life-changing, and the counselors showed so much empathy. The facility is so welcoming, which made him feel comfortable enough to open up in ways he never had before. The combination of individual therapy, group support, and mindfulness exercises gave him the tools he needed to stay on the path to recovery. Our family is forever grateful for the care he received.

I can t begin to express the gratitude I have for True Life Care Mental Health. My friend had been battling anxiety, and after multiple failed attempts at rehab, we were losing hope. From the very first day, the staff made her feel welcomed and safe, which was critical for someone as anxious as she was. The comprehensive treatment plan not only focused on her anxiety but also addressed the emotional and psychological issues. The counselors were so compassionate, and she connected with them in a way she hadn t at previous facilities. The peaceful, calming environment at TLC helped her open up, and their personalized approach gave her the confidence to reclaim her life. Today, she s handling her anxiety much better than I ve seen her in years. TLC is a place of true healing.

Tried to get residental mental health. They did pre assessment and told me they couldn't do it unless I had a drug problem then tried to coach me into admitting I have one too receive help. 2 days I could have sought help elsewhere. Insurance fraud? Mental health is a joke I'll never ask for help again.

Absolutely awakenings helped me tackle my mental heath issues head on. I was just not doing well and it was what felt like a last resort. Once I started each day got better. It came from the staff just focusing on an individual plan for me. I stayed in their program for a while. But it was worth it every minute. It was the first place I finally felt safe. It gave me the skills and strength to take my life back, and I am glad. It has made me feel confident in my future endeavors.

I don t normally write reviews, but I d be doing our community a disservice by not giving True Life . They saved a loved one s life and I couldn t be more appreciative. Their alumni program is spectacular, they remain in touch, check in frequently and overall does a great job.

Absolute Awakenings really helped me make a huge turn around in my life. The staff there isn't afraid to go the extra mile. They have a great array of counselors and therapists as well as good quality groups. Their mental health program can be intensive at times but that's what people need to get well. Absolute taught me to understand my triggers and how to cope with them effectively as well as how to use healthy communication skills. My therapist Courtney really respected my boundaries while also pushing me to do my best. Jeff the house manger can be hard on the clients but only out of love and care for them. He truly always has their safety and happiness in mind even before his own sometimes. Megan who runs the center works all hours of the day and night to make sure everyone (staff and clients) are properly cared for and supervised. The behavioral health technicians who supervise the clients throughout the day love to talk with the clients and be there for them as extra support. If you're looking for a program that truly goes above and beyond for people in need with a high turnout rate, Absolute Awakenings would be the first place I'd reccomend.

When I joined the program I was in a really rough place with my mental health. I came to this facility and it changed my life. They offer many different types of groups including hypnotherapy, music, field trips, and yoga. I learned a lot about how to become a stronger and happier person. I feel like I got my life back.
