About Trillium Family Services

Trillium Family Services provides residential mental health treatment for children and young adults in Corvallis, Oregon. They help treat a range of different mental and behavioral health concerns, including substance use disorder. They’re in network with many private insurance companies and also accept self payment.

A unique feature of this facility is that they work closely with clients and their families to provide a wide circle of support. They customize their care to create a treatment plan that works for you, changing their approach as needed to fit your recovery journey. Here, you’ll find four different levels of residential care, including secure inpatient, psychiatric, and acute stabilization programs and independent living facilities for adolescents.

All of these programs incorporate evidence based and holistic therapies to help you overcome your challenges and reclaim your quality of life. Some of their on site amenities include playgrounds, sports fields, therapeutic gardens, and gyms. They’ll encourage you to use these and engage with others to develop your social and emotional wellbeing. At the same time, they offer individual, group, and family counseling services, as well as medication management, life skills training, psychiatric care, and school instruction.

While several former clients speak highly of this facility and say the clinical team is caring and compassionate, this is not a universal experience. Others say the staff members are not attentive enough, which can lead to negative outcomes for clients.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Eating Disorder Treatment

Eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and dysfunctional eating patterns. Many psychologists and other mental health professionals consider eating disorders to be food addictions, meaning food is being used in an addictive way (similar to drug or alcohol addiction). Certain substance abuse treatment programs will have treatment for eating disorders as one of the services offered. An eating disorder may also present as a co-occuring disorder or dual diagnosis alongside drug and alcohol addiction.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I think the staff if they take their work seriously and they take care of you and want the best for you, but, the hierarchy is too obvious, and the benefits and advantages are visible.

I was At Trillium for 4 months starting in February. While I was there I witnessed many hostile situations that could have been prevented. I was involved in one being kicked in the uterus area leaving a horrible bruse across that area. I have very frequent trauma attacks and when I was having one staff would ignore me. Also the residential units are very under staffed. When they put residents in hold when trying to climb the fence or run away from the staff they leave bruises and they put 5 staff on one kid even after they stop resisting. Don't take your kids here!!

I have never been, but I know 3 people who have gone and ALL of them are completely traumatized. One of them told me about some preventable suicides that occurred here and that absolutely disgusts me. HOW IS THIS PLACE STILL OPEN??

My child was in inpatient here for months. They told me they would release the child because they needed the bed. I told them no that the child was not ready. They said the child was doing fine. I told them that the child is very manipulative and was not ready. They ignore me. Less than a month after being home, the child attempted to stab me and went to juvenile detention. I was told they did this with another child once and he went home and started a fire under his care givers bed and killed her. Not a good place.

I beg that you do not send your child here. I went here when I was 14. I am now 21 and I still live with the trauma I experienced here. I m still in intense therapy due to it. The state was once very close to closing this place, I cannot believe it is still running. The suicides that occurred here will continue to haunt every inch of grass that it is built on. I drive past and my heart feels so very heavy. I m not sure how the staff and founders sleep at night. Trillium let multiple people die in their care, they tried to cover this up and falsify records which led to a SECOND death (oregon live and the corvallis advocate both have more information on this) This death happened while I was there. They left someone who they knew and saw self harm, alone in the bathroom for nearly an hour, where he took his life. This was completely preventable, as was the first one. I m deeply disturbed that local schools continue to recommend this evil place. You may send your child here, and the next time you see them they might be in a casket.

Terribly run place. Was here when the suicide occurred. Patients got away with saving pills, hiding glass in their rooms (lack of regular room checks), and there were some inappropriate relationships between staff and the teens. Can t believe this place is still up and running.

I m a former staff member here. The company cares about nothing but money. Staff aren t treated well in as a result the kids can t receive the help they deserve and need. They re so understaffed that kids often go over an hour without important meds they need for anxiety after asking for it. Trillium claims they care about prioritizing verbal de-escalation but the amount of times I witnessed kids be put into physical holds because they were slightly upset was absurd. Most staff do what they can to make the kids lives as good as possible, but anyone above a shift lead position does just about nothing to interact with the kids. The therapists act like kids aren t improving but refuse to communicate with staff who spend literally every waking hour with them to understand how they learn and grow. Unit supervisors BARELY come onto the floor to interact with the kids. Please do not send your children here. This place needs to be torn down and built back up before it can be safe for your children.
