About The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center Atlanta

The Salvation Army has Adult Rehabilitation Centers at locations across the country. They’re called ARC for short, and there’s one in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a residential treatment program that gives you a clean, sanitary place to live while you recover from drug or alcohol addiction and learn to be on your own. The program is free, but they’ll let you use government benefits to help offset some of the costs.

The program is designed to last about 180 days or six months. While the focus is obviously on recovery, they do more than treat the disease of addiction. They know that to get sober and stay that way, you have to have to heal emotionally and spiritually, too. That’s why work therapy will be a central part of your treatment plan.

You’ll work directly with your counselors to find an open position in your community that fits your skill set. Then, you’ll start working about eight hours each day. This one step can be transformative because it allows you to become self sufficient, earn an income, and build accountability. As a result, you should find that confidence and outlook also improve.

During your downtime, you can hang out with your peers at the center or attend counseling sessions. The sessions can help you understand more about addiction, address any underlying issues you might be dealing with, and develop healthy habits.

Something I like about the program is that they emphasize the importance of spiritual care. You’ll attend worship services each week, participate in Bible studies, and talk with your counselors to deepen your relationship with God as you recover.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehab enables clients to receive addiction treatment while continuing to work and reside at home. Many programs offer evening, night, and weekend services so that clients may receive treatment on their own schedule. Outpatient treatment modalities typically include addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT). Many programs also provide step-down care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and standard outpatient services, to align with clients' evolving needs.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. Linden Oaks' Residential Stay Program offers additional support for those who may benefit from a structured living environment. A patient's stay may vary from a few days to 30 days ago. The program includes group, family and individual counseling.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Medical detox is the process of ridding the body of addictive substances in a medically supervised setting. If you become chemically dependent on a substance like alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines (like Xanax or Ativan), quitting abruptly can cause uncomfortable or even dangerous side effects. Licensed medical professionals ensure the process goes as safely and comfortably as possible while monitoring you 24/7 and administering any required medications,

I called to donate some very nice furniture, worth thousands, to a worthy cause. The men who came to pick up the furniture were rude, would not take off their shoes so as not to track in mud on the carpet or wear booties. They said I'll need to bring the furniture out for them. The face of your employees (lazy) is the face of the Salvation Army - you're hurting yourselves. I'll find another worthy cause.

I m in the process of moving and decided to donate some of my items/furniture to The Salvation Army simply because of how the donations are used. I scheduled my pickup and put in the notes that the drivers could just go right in to pickup the items. I didn t know that I needed to be there until I received an email the day before my scheduled pickup (i.e. today) indicating that my pickup had been canceled. When I called and finally got someone on the phone, the dispatcher stated that my pickup had been canceled because of my note about not being home. I decided in that moment that I would reschedule my patients for tomorrow so that I could be home. Problem solved, right? Nope! The driver comes to the phone asking if there are steps in my unit and if so, how many? I said yes, and there are approximately 17 steps. He said that they have a 13-step maximum and that if I can get the furniture downstairs then they can come and get it! Really?! Get it downstairs how? I can t lift that heavy furniture! My issue is that I paid an extra week of rent waiting for August 18th just so that I could donate these items/furniture to a good cause all to no avail! Just ridiculous! This is the true meaning of everything that s free is not free! Lesson learned

Clean and organized with some really good bargains. Very nice staff! Parking can be limited. Clothing is sorted by color so it may take people longer there to find the right size.

So glad I stopped by here. The employees are wonderful, the store is clean, and the prices are great. So much cheaper than Goodwill. The only negative I found is that clothes are not really organized by size, but that was minor as they are by item type. I found my new favorite thrift store.
