It is with profound gratitude and deep appreciation that I write this review of the Mindful Healing Center and its exceptional director, Erica Norton. Reflecting on my journey, it is evident that without the unwavering support and compassionate guidance of Mrs. Norton and her dedicated staff, I would not be the person I am today. Two years ago, I was trapped in the throes of active addiction and plagued by severe mental health issues. My life was a harrowing cycle of homelessness, scavenging for meals from discarded food, and living in constant fear of legal repercussions. Today, I am proud to say that I am over two years clean, free from the shackles of addiction, and thriving both mentally and physically. My transformation is nothing short of miraculous, and it is all due to the comprehensive care I received at the Mindful Healing Center.Mrs. Norton and her team possess a rare ability to see the intrinsic worth in individuals, even when they themselves cannot. The level of care and compassion I experienced at the center was unparalleled. Unlike other facilities I had encountered, where I often felt reduced to a mere billable entity, the Mindful Healing Center treated me with dignity and humanity. They recognized the profound trauma that underpinned my addiction and worked diligently to address the root causes of my struggles, guiding me towards genuine healing and a new way of living.Under Mrs. Norton s mentorship, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery and rehabilitation. Her belief in my potential empowered me to overcome formidable obstacles, including resolving my legal issues and successfully completing probation. For the first time in over 15 years, I hold a valid Ohio driver s license and insurance an achievement that, while seemingly small, signifies a monumental step in reclaiming my life.Furthermore, I am now in a position to give back to the community that once supported me. I have obtained credentials from the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professional Board, as well as Peer Support Certification through Ohio Addiction and Mental Health Services. I am also a qualified Mental Health Specialist and Case Management Specialist. In my role as a Chemical Dependency Counselor, I manage a caseload of individuals struggling with addiction and mental health challenges. Drawing from my own experiences, I strive to illuminate their paths, just as the Mindful Healing Center illuminated mine. The lessons I learned at the Mindful Healing Center have profoundly shaped my approach to counseling. The empathy, respect, and personalized care I received have become the cornerstone of my practice. I am deeply committed to helping others find hope and healing, inspired by the remarkable example set by Mrs. Norton and her staff. In conclusion, the impact of the Mindful Healing Center on my life is immeasurable. Through the steadfast support and expert care provided by Erica Norton and her team, I have been able to restore numerous facets of my life that addiction had stolen. I am eternally grateful to God and Mrs. Norton for seeing beyond my flaws and helping me realize my potential. Without their intervention, I would not be here today, writing this testimonial.Thank you, Erica Norton, and the entire staff at the Mindful Healing Center, for opening doors to a brighter future and guiding me on my journey of recovery. Your dedication and compassion have not only saved my life but also enabled me to assist others in finding their way.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are designed to ensure clients receive continuing care while in the maintenance phase of recovery. Some clients may be in outpatient treatment, which is generally considered to be an element of drug rehab aftercare. The specific services provided in these programs are often determined by the client's case manager and care team in consultation with the client. Common services include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction.
12-step icon12-Step
Many treatment centers base their recovery models on the 12 step programming standard, which combines intensive peer support with spiritual, psychological, and emotional growth. Participants in 12 step recovery programs are expected to regularly attend group meetings, which are free, anonymous, peer-led, and open to the public. They are also required to select a sponsor to guide them through the recovery journey. These programs deploy spiritual principles to foster participants' self-understanding, forgiveness, acceptance, and accountability.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
A sober living home in Ohio is often recommended for those completing a drug rehab program. When you leave the structured setting of rehab, returning home can trigger relapse due to the abrupt change in environment. Men's and women's sober living homes act as transitional spaces to continue developing tools for recovery before fully re-entering society. It gives you time to adjust to the demands of life, in a setting that is free from substances.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services help family members prepare for a drug intervention in Ohio. During an intervention, family members typically read letters they have prepared that explain how the individual's substance abuse has affected their lives and relationships. Each family member also explains what they will do if the individual does not agree to get treatment. An intervention specialist offers support to guide this discussion and makes appropriate treatment recommendations.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Medical detox involves clearing your body of drugs and/or alcohol under the 24/7 care of licensed medical professionals. If you've become dependent on alcohol or drugs (like benzodiazepines or opioids), quitting abruptly can have uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects. The purpose of medically assisted detox is to keep you as safe and comfortable as possible during this process. Medications like Suboxone or Vivitrol may be provided if necessary to mitigate any withdrawal symptoms.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Ohio may occur in individual, group, or family sessions. It involves focusing on specific thought and behavior problems. Participants learn coping techniques and are asked to practice them as homework between sessions.

The main goals of dialectical behavior therapy are to teach you how to regulate your emotions, develop positive ways to cope with stress, improve your relationships, and live in the moment. This therapy lasts about six months and involves weekly individual and group sessions.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Some couples therapy in Ohio is designed as short term treatment to address a specific problem in the relationship, such as anxiety, depression, or addiction. Other couples therapy may focus on general strengthening of the relationship by improving interactions.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills provide stability. They increase the strengths that you bring to recovery by equipping you with the tools you need to navigate daily life. During rehab, you'll develop these strengths through life skills training that focuses on both cognitive and behavioral abilities.

Creative arts therapy can be an effective tool for recovery. It can relieve depression and anxiety and help you feel more in control of your life. Through creative expression, it can help you explore difficult emotions and process challenging situations.

Experiential therapy in Ohio is a hands on intervention method that focuses on doing and feeling. The method is client centered and tailored to the individual's interests. It may include drama therapy, animal assisted therapy, martial arts, or wilderness therapy.

I have some really great memories while being at The Mindful Healing Center. I met some life long friends that will forever hold a place in my foundation of my recovery. The staff & other clients helped me in many ways. Always allowing me to be myself but also encouraging me to grow into someone I always knew I could be. They welcomed me in with a WHOLE LIFE to unpack. The counselors and the owners allowed me to be vulnerable enough to work on my character defects and trauma that I had been carrying for years. They suggested and encouraged me to make amends, clean up my criminal history, and most importantly to make outside connections that will help me grow even more. I will always be grateful and thankful to TMHC.

The very kind, generous and beautiful women that own, operate and maintain the Mindful Healing Center have saved countless lives. In general it's 1 of the greatest places I've been honored with the privilege of being a part of. They (staff) go above and beyond what a person would expect from a rehabilitation facility in every area of the afflicted person(s) life. They are making a difference and are thriving, prospering and succeeding in treatment field.I highly recommend anyone that are struggling or are maladjusted to life, please choose recovery and healing every area of your life and allow TMHC to help you out of the bottom you may be on or on your way to. Make the decision to surrender and receive help and these people will help you in every area of life. You're never too old to start over, it's not too late. This place wants to help

What do you say about the place that gave you a proper platform to build your foundation? The lowest point I've ever been in my life, coming in to "try again"They loved me and made me show up every day, to exercise before the sun came up, then to group after group after group. I thought I was showing up for them, but they were teaching me to show up for myself.I let go of my own plans, plans to hurry up and get what I thought I needed, or back to my kids, or to hurry up and get a job. I decided to be willing instead. I did everything that was going on! I got involved and tried to help others and realized how much it helped me! We started our own recovery meeting complete with a coffee bar and brought in a new lead each week. They required me to do AA, which has changed my life and the thing is, that I have so much of what I prayed for and I know that one day at a time, I'll just keep growing!I still give of myself, I put others first, Im still eating better and treating my body right, I am relevant in my children's lives and live comfortably. I have a solution for every problem that happens in my life and it always starts with me looking at me. That is just a small testimony of my experience with the mindful healing center! I know that I have lifelong support with the sisters, there is no graduation for me. They helped me achieve so many goals and I'm so grateful to that place!
