They did a wonderful job with our son. When our son was discharged, he was a different kid for the better. Oaklawn is a great facility, and I would recommend this place to anyone. The staff are very professional and know what to do and how to do it to help the children.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Not understanding of anxiety problems. I had to wait months to see someone. They kept moving my appointment so I had to endure horrible months of anxiety before I could see someone. The nurse practitioner I was seeing just stopped my Lorazepam without weaning me off. I ended up in the hospital and they made me suffer through withdrawal which is still happening. They just canceled my appointment again because the person I was seeing is going to be out of the office for almost a month, so again I m waiting for my new medication and they won t prescribe anything until I go in and meet with the Nurse Practitioner. When I asked if I could see someone else they flat out said NO! So now I am just sitting at home waiting for the days to pass and I can get some help, living in hell. I was told by a therapist that we have the worst mental health services in the United States. So do I recommend Oaklawn? No, but it s the only game in town.

I was there for a like 8 months. There s some good stuff about it but I left that place worse off than I was. They will definitely lock you in your bedroom or pick you up and lock you in this weird quiet room I told them I had to go to the bathroom and they would NOT let me out and I ended up peeing on the floor and the room was so small I basically sat in it for an hour because I wasn t being compliant. I felt like I could never say how I truly felt there because I didn t want to have to stay longer . I had gotten blamed and punished for something I DID NOT do and was told someone would come talk to me about it . No one ever did. There are some staff like ms Bailey, Ms Bowmen, Ms kinfa, and Ms Gina that genuinely tried to help but most staff just didn t care fr . I was on a unit with a girl that put her hands on us, tore our rooms up, threw stuff at us all for fun cuz she didn t care and if we reacted at all we got in trouble. It was hell for me . I had a good Therapist and a good skills trainer but when I wasn t with them I felt terrible. They also didn t pay no attention to our ages I think. They made us do things like paint cartoon characters or we got in trouble. A lot of childish things even 16-17 year olds were forced to do. I feel so bad for all the kids that have to be there .

Staff goes out of their way to respond to parent concerns quickly and thoroughly. Having a child in a residential treatment facility is stressful for the entire family, and they were able to arrange a time to speak with me and allay my worries.I would like to see more information in their parent handbook as to what the residents daily routine looks like, the rules and the consequences. This would go a long way in easing parents concerns.

Biased. They are the real deal keeping the YOUth safe & out of harms way from the things that go bump in the night to the real dangers hidden in plain sight. The closets have no monsters nor under the beds. What more can I say, that I haven't already said. Yes there are phantom faces at the windows, empty chairs at empty tables. But it's not what you think, those are reserved for the guardian angels of family & friends watching day and night just as it was in the beginning of #DCF as the Children's Campus it is still the same only bigger and better for Youth are not always bad. They are just kids growing up too fast and want to be adults way too soon.

I was here for almost 11 months 2020-2021. It was ok here, it helped me with my trauma, but i was still depressed. But all in all, the staff is great, especially Mr. Gunn, Ms. Leah, Mr. Harris, and Ms, Ashley
